Whether it is baalei teshuva, yeshiva graduates or simply those seeking to cover as much ground in as little time as possible, there is a tremendous thirst for advanced Torah texts in the English language. To meet this ever-increasing demand, Rabbi Asher Zelig Eisenberg, of blessed memory, founded the Ohr Olam Institute. His primary goal was to bring about Zikui HaRabbim by encouraging the learning of contemporary Jewish Law and other texts and making them available to Jews of all streams of life.
The Ohr Olam Institute is an innovative new Torah project committed to disseminating the eternal wisdom of the Torah classics to the English speaking public to ensure that no Jew is estranged from Torah. Our goal is to bring the timeless words of our heritage into the Twenty-First Century in a language that everyone can understand without losing the depth or passion of the original Hebrew.

8 Year Old Takes His Siblings On a Joy Ride in Pajamas
The Minnesota State Patrol released a video of a slow-speed chase involving an 8-year-old driver.
Authorities said the underage driver made it nearly 20 miles from St. Paul to Mounds View on April 28, with his two younger foster siblings riding along. The boy turned the car into a driveway, and the trooper pulled up behind him.
The boy put the car in reverse and hit the patrol car, then parked.
The trooper got out and checked to see what's going on, and the boy eventually got out of his car wearing pajamas.
He took out his backpack and a bag with his belongings.
Then, his 5-year-old foster sister and her 3-year-old brother also get out. The three left with the trooper unharmed and were returned to their foster family. It's still unknown why the boy took off or where he planned to drive.

How 124 MPH Crash Looks Like
Nowadays all sorts of agencies are tasked with developing anti-speeding campaigns. However, sometimes it’s best to simply use the power of example.
The footage, which comes from an European organization that handles safety matters, brings us some of the most brutal accident testing moments we’ve seen in quite a while.
The velocity many drivers dream about before getting their licenses, namely 200 km/h (124 mph), was the one used as a reference point here. You’ll get to see cars traveling at this speed crashing into stationary vehicles. This is also a good occasion to compare frontal and rear impacts
In fact “crashing into” doesn’t quite cut it here. It’s more like “obliterating”. And to make matters worse, concrete barriers are also used.
Some might say that such videos are pointless, since that kind of speed would destroy any car and kill the humans inside it, regardless of the protection systems available. However, as we said, the point is to determine drivers not to reach this kind of speeds on restricted public roads.

Drone Spots Man Chilling Above 200ft Turbine
It's summer and the beaches are packed - so this guy got some private sunbathing time sky high
A drone pilot taking a look at a giant wind turbine was startled to find a man sunbathing on the top of it. Kevin Miller flew the drone all the way up the 200 foot turbine to find the mystery man flat on his back catching some rays.
Woken from his nap by the noise of the drone, he sits up, gives a wave, and looks rather nonplussed as the drone moves in further for a good look.

Lubavitcher Rebbe on Torah Study
Torah describes the symbiotic relationship between the sea-faring tribe of Zevulun and the scholarly tribe of Issachar. Zevulun supported the Torah study of Issachar, and shared in the merit of that study.
At the same time, Torah instructs all Jews, even the most philanthropic, not to suffice with supporting Torah scholars, but to engage in study themselves.
In this talk, the Rebbe demonstrates how even the busiest of people can toil in the study of Torah, “day and night.”

Twin Baby Girls Pretending to be Asleep
These clever twin babies know exactly how to pull the wool over their mum's eyes at bed time – by pretending to be asleep when she checks up on them.
In a hilarious video, twin toddlers are seen playful and giggly as they stand in their cot. As soon as their mother says "Hi babies" on the monitor, both hit the bed pretending to be fast asleep.
They certainly don't fool mum Judy Travis, who bursts out laughing on camera.
The 29-year-old Seattle resident shared the video online saying: "I rarely talk with the girls through the baby monitor. But when I do, this usually happens."

Man Apprehanded for Shoplifting in Williamsburg Pharmacy
A Williamsburg pharmacy owner, along with his employee and an elderly bystander, managed to catch a shoplifter with a bagful of merchandise before he exited the store. Though the perp struggled to break free, the men were able to hold on to him long enough for Shomrim to arrive.
The incident occurred today, Tuesday, at the Remedies Pharmacy in the heart of Williamsburg, located on the corner of Bedford Ave. and Wallabout Street.
The suspect, a middle-aged African-American male, was alleged to have previously stolen from the pharmacy, and he was recognized by a store employee before making off again with a bag filled with stolen goods.
The storeowner and his employee managed to apprehend the thief and hold on to him – despite his fierce struggles – until Shomrim volunteers arrived and forced him into immediate compliance.
The entire drama was captured on video, which was obtained by CrownHeights.info

World Record for Highest Cliff Jump
A Brazilian-born canyoneer has set a pulsating world record after leaping almost 60 meters from a cliff and into a pool of water.
Laso Schaller is a world-renowned canyoning expert who uses rope, harnesses and other rigging equipment to descend rivers in ways few others have before. The 27-year-old regularly leaps off 25m, 30m or even 35m cliffs, but recently decided to tackle Switzerland's famed Cascata del Salto waterfall for a world record cliff-jump attempt.
With the help of a support crew, Schaller spent several days building a high-dive platform and studying the cliff face before taking the leap which, to be exact, was from a height of 58.8 metres.
To further ensure his safety, the team also set six tanks in the pool to aerate the water and soften the landing.
His plunge was nevertheless horrifying, with a point of view camera that was mounted to his helmet providing a dizzying perspective of what he faced.
It's estimated Schaller reached a speed of 123km/h before he hit the water and even though his feet-first entry was perfect, he actually missed the landing zone and instead plunged into the harder water in the centre of the pool. The impact was akin to a gunshot, resulting in a mad scramble by rescuers who had to drag him back to dry land.
Schaller was on his hands and knees for several tense moments before managing to climb onto his feet and raise his hands in triumph, triggering a roar of delight - and no doubt relief - from onlookers.

Boruch Dayan Emes.
Musician Yosi Piamenta, one of the most beloved and veteran voices in the Jewish music scene, passed away on Sunday, Elul 8, 5775.

An Orthodox Jewish singer-songwriter and guitarist, known for introducing the electric guitar to Jewish music, Piamenta played rock and roll tunes, often infused with heavy rock licks and extended guitar solos -- all while dressed in Jewish Orthodox religious clothing and singing Biblical Hebrew lyrics. Piamenta has been widely acknowledged by rock critics as a guitar virtuoso.
In addition to being an original songwriter, Piamenta covered others' music in the religious Jewish music category -- his album Songs of the Rebbes includes various Lubavitch, Belz and Sephardi nigunim and Zemirot -- as well as secular American music.
Piamenta was born in Jerusalem, Israel in 1951 to Yehuda and Genia Piamenta. In 1962, when he was 12 years old, Piamenta moved with his family to Tel Aviv, Israel. There, he received his first guitar from his uncle, Albert Piamenta, an Israeli saxophonist. Growing up, he practiced traditional Judaism.
In his 20s, Piamenta moved to New York, together with his brother, Avi Piamenta, with the intention of working on a joint album with American saxophone player Stan Getz. The album was a success but Piamenta disapproved of the entertainment industry lifestyle and turned to religion, joining the Orthodox Jewish community.Click Here for more.

Drone Reveals Devastated Tianjin Blasts Site
Drone footage released by Greenpeace on Thursday captured the aftermath of the Tianjin warehouse explosion, on Friday, August 15, in which at least 114 people died and another 700 were injured. Chinese officials are still working out the exact cause of the blast, although it is thought to have originated from a warehouse containing flammable chemicals, including sodium cyanide, sodium nitrate and calcium carbide. The latter can combine with water to form the highly explosive acetylene.

Goldilocks and The 6 Little Bears in Real Life
A stunned family captured hilarious footage of a family of bears cooling off in their paddling pool – before playing on the slide, chewing up the floats and absolutely trashing the garden.
The humorous moment was filmed by the family, who watched the chaos unfold from the safety of their home in Rockaway, New Jersey.

The Rebbe's Impassioned Defense of the Jewish Ppl
The Lubavticher Rebbe's Impassioned Defense of the Jewish People
The month of Elul is a time for repentance and introspection before the coming of Rosh Hashanah. Like Reb Levi Yitzchok of Berditchev, the renowned "defender of the Jewish people," the Lubavitcher Rebbe stands up to those who would misuse the month of mercy to chastise and rebuke their brethren. 21 Av, 5744 – August 19, 1984. From Living Torah Volume 143, Program 572.

The Art of Arranging an Orchestra - Dudi Kalish
Composer and Choir master Dudi Kalish was flown in from Israel special for Yaldei’s ninth annual dinner in Montreal, Canada at the Crown Plaza Hotel, February 22nd 2015. Together with the Shearim orchestra, they sang popular melodies and performed his own original compositions including a Yiddish song about Yaldei.
He was joined by both the Zimra men’s choir and the Zimra boy’s choir.
During one of his performances, Kalish slowly built up his musical piece, starting with the boy’s choir, adding a little piano, then slowly inserting instrument after instrument – with an addition from the crowd too – until the full 18 piece band, both choirs, the audience and Kalish exploded into a powerful, harmonized pitch perfect melody.
Members of Montreal’s community attended Yaldei’s ninth annual dinner in a wave of support for the hundreds of families that are serviced by the center for children with developmental needs.
The only one of its kind in Quebec, Yaldei is a private, not-for-profit early intervention center dedicated to helping children with developmental challenges reach their full potential. Yaldei’s integration of advanced clinical, behavioral, educational and family support services provides children with the opportunity to learn how to walk, talk, play, attend school and lead productive lives as part of their community.

World’s Grumpiest Baby
A cute baby boy from Brazil, is probably the world’s grumpiest baby. He refuses to stop scowling at his parents despite many attempts to make him smile.
the family doesn’t give up. They take a more direct approach and actually try to massage his face into a smile, like the baby was made out of Play-doh or something. This doesn’t work either.
What can possibly be the reason that this baby got so angry ?

Rabbi Laibl Wolf's 60-Second Message - Parashas Shoftim
Don’t Be Judgmental of Others – Only of Yourself
• Appoint judges and police officers for yourself – or more profoundly over yourself.
• Each person needs to step outside him/herself and be self critical and introspective.
• And then practice mastery – police our shortcomings.

Little Boy Bursts Into Tears at Reporter's Question
A little boy just could not handle the unintentionally tough questions of one L.A. reporter.
KTLA's Courtney Friel was outside an L.A. elementary school as kids got ready for their first day. One four-year-old, Andrew Macias, was about to go inside when Friel asked him whether he was excited about starting pre-kindergarten. "Yes," he answered. Friel then asked Andrew if he would miss his mother, who was standing off-camera. "No," he said ... but then he gave it a second of thought. And he lost it.
Andrew's mom was there to give him a big hug and reassure him before his big day.
Courtney, formerly of Fox News and a mother of two herself, later said she felt "awful" about what happened. Watch the cute - but then again a little bit heartbreaking - video here.

Avrumi Roth & Friends - שווים - Music Video

Do you stay up late at night worrying about the economic situation in Southeast Asia? Do you sometimes wish you were more like Millard Fillmore? Then this video will be of no help whatsoever (although I totally sympathize about the platypus)." Made in Camp Mogen Av - August 2015. Directed by Sruly Peikes.

Kinor Dovid is linked to the Harmony Program which is there to have a camp for Special Needs Men. After the release of Yaakov Shwekey's Single, "I Can Be," we decided it would be amazing to make a video showing how these special Neshamos can do anything. Besides for that the video also shows Kinor Dovid being themselves and interacting with their ultra warm hosts, Camp Rayim." Dump Truck Dumped
A Saudi Arabian truck driver's seemingly innocent mishap got a whole lot more destructive when he forgot to lower the bed of his truck before taking to the highway. As caught on camera by a nearby driver, the truck plows full speed ahead into a road sign that hangs over the desert freeway, not knowing or caring that the truck may be too tall in its current state to fit underneath.
Ignoring the warning honks of other drivers, the trucker only slows when the sign is destroyed - and his truck almost tips over from the force. Even more curious than why the driver didn't notice that the bed was still up is the white pickup that follows him at full speed. Perhaps he was trying to warn the driver of the sign's impending doom. Nobody was injured in the wreckage, and as far as we know, the only damage other than the road sign will be to the driver's wallet.

Shade Balls Prevents Evaporation in California Reservoirs
Los Angeles has been blackballed.
The city has completed a program of covering open-air reservoirs with floating "shade balls" to protect water quality.
City officials this week dumped the last 20,000 of 96 million black balls into the Los Angeles Reservoir in Sylmar, 25 miles northwest of downtown.
The 4-inch-diameter plastic balls block sunlight from penetrating the 175-acre surface of the reservoir.
That prevents chemical reactions that can cause algae blooms and other problems, allowing the Department of Water and Power to meet U.S. Environmental Protection Agency water-quality requirements.
They have the added perk of aiding with the ravages of the drought, and are expected to keep about 300 million gallons annually from evaporating.
The 36-cent balls also will help prevent evaporation of 300 million gallons of water annually from the 3.3 billion-gallon reservoir, the DWP said.
The city began using shade balls in 2008, and they now also cover the Upper Stone, Elysian and Ivanhoe reservoirs.
Tens of thousands of plastic balls were dumped intentionally into the biggest reservoir in Los Angeles to combat California’s drought. The balls that poured in were the last of 96 million balls, completing an evaporation barrier on the reservoir. John Blackstone reports on how they could help the state bounce back from its water emergency.

Eagle Takes Down Drone
An Australian videographer shooting footage with an aerial drone recorded the moment the device was knocked out of the sky by a "punch" from an eagle.
The video, features the drone shooting aerial footage in a wooded area when a wedge-tailed eagle quickly appears and knocks the drone out of the sky. The drone crashes to the ground while the camera remains functional, shooting dizzying footage of the plummet before resting on a tranquil scene of leaves on the ground.

Thousands at 36th Yahrzeit of Satmar Rebbe
Tens of thousands of worshipers descended on Kiryas Joel Tuesday to pay respects to Rabbi Joel Teitelbaum.
He's considered by many to be the architect of the Satmar Hasidic faith in America after the Holocaust. Tuesday marked the 36th anniversary of his death.
"People feel close to the old rabbi, they come and they pray in his memory they light a candle they donate to charity," said Moses Witriol of Kiryas Joel Public Safety.
Between 30,000 and 35,000 came from all across the U.S. for the annual pilgrimage to the burial site in Kiryas Joel, the village named for the Grand Rabbi himself. Local leaders said the tradition is a sacred one and that visiting the mausoleum is about more than just one person.
"The message of love and faith and caring for everyone and coexistence is what it's all about here and that's what we're coming to bring honor to," said Rabbi Joseph Kolakowski of Sullivan County.
Teitelbaum is a legendary leader in the Hasidic Jewish community. Countless prayed inside the mausoleum where the leader was buried back in 1979.
"A cause for the community to come together and people from outside the community, all people from all over the world they travel here," said Kolakowski.

Obama: Bibi Only Foreign Leader to Interfer in US Policy
President Barack Obama charged that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was the only foreign leader he could recall who had forcibly interfered in a foreign policy debate in Washington.
He spoke about Netanyahu in an interview that he gave to CNN’s Fareed Zakaria on Thursday about the Iran deal, which aired in full on Sunday.
In the clip below, Zakaria asked Obama a question about Netanyahu’s stiff opposition to the deal to curb Iran’s nuclear program that was worked out between Tehran and the six world powers; the US, Russia, China, France, Great Britain and Germany.
Congress is expected to vote on the deal by September 17. Netanyahu has mounted a public campaign against the deal which he believes is a historic mistake because it legitimizes Iran’s nuclear program and leaves it with the ability to produce atomic weapons.
“Prime Minister Netanyahu has injected himself forcefully into this debate on American foreign policy in Washington. Can you recall a time when a foreign head of government has done that. Is it appropriate for a foreign head of government to inject himself into an American debate,” Zakaria asked.
Obama responded, “I do not recall a similar example.”
He added: “Obviously the relationship between the US and Israel is deep. It is profound. It is reflected in my policies. But as I said in the speech yesterday on the substance, the prime minister is wrong on this.

Ancient Mikvah Discovered in Jerusalem
During the construction of a kindergarten at the initiative of the Jerusalem municipality in the southeastern Arnona neighborhood, an ancient mikveh (ritual bath) from the Second Temple period nearly 2,000 years ago was found - and with it extraordinary inscriptions bearing a cryptic message from the past.
The Mmikvah was found around two months ago during a routine inspection by the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA), according to an IAA statement on Wednesday.
An anteroom, flanked by benches, led to the Jewish ritual bath, and alongside it a winepress was also excavated.
But the most unusual aspect of the mikveh was its walls, which were treated with ancient plaster and bore numerous wall paintings and inscriptions, written in mud, soot and incising.
As was customary at the end of the Second Temple period when the Romans occupied the Jewish state of Israel, the writing was in Aramaic and written in cursive Hebrew script. The symbols drawn on the wall include a boat, palm trees and various plant species, and what looks to be a Menorah.

Rav Leivik Schneerson Vs. the USSR: Unbroken Spirit
Reb Gedaliah Mazal witnessed the arrival of the Lubavitcher Rebbe's father, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, in Khazakhstan. He had been exiled there by the Soviets for the crime of spreading Judaism, but defiantly continued to speak out against the evil regime.
Reb Mazal describes the impact his bearing had on all who saw him, his continued activism, and the scene of his passing on the 20th of Av.
Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson was considered one of the greatest Talmudic and Kabbalistic scholars of his generation. He served as the chief rabbi of the city of Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine, during the bloody Bolshevik revolution and the subsequent Communist oppression. Despite terrible persecution directed at religious leaders in those days, he remained fearlessly defiant in strengthening Jewish learning and practice in his city and throughout the Soviet Union. Rabbi Levi Yitzchak was eventually arrested, tortured, and subsequently banished to exile in a remote village in Kazakhstan. His spirit, however, was not extinguished, even while his body was broken and eventually gave way to his early passing.

164 Skydivers Smash Head Down World Record
Travelling at speeds of up to 240 mph, 164 skydivers flying head-down have built the largest ever vertical skydiving formation.
The formation, resembling a giant flower, floated above Skydive Chicago in Ottawa, Illinois, for a matter of seconds Friday before the flyers broke away, deployed their parachutes, and whooped and hollered their way to the ground.
Seven aircraft flew in precise formation to ensure the jumpers de-planed at the right place, time and altitude. The record jumpers exited at 19,700 feet.
Ottawa is 80 miles southwest of Chicago.
