LIVE: R' Elimelech Biderman Gathering in Meron

Rav Elimelech Biderman Shlita Leads Historic Gathering on Behalf of Cholei Yisroel

Thousands Pour Out Their Hearts in The Holy City of Meron

Scores of people are gathering tonight, the Thursday evening prior to the Yemei Haselichos, as the world-renowned Mashpia, Hagaon Rav Elimelech Biderman shlita, leads a group of hundreds of activists, donors and friends of RCCS on a historic trip to the holy city of Meron for a mass tefillah gathering on behalf of cholei Yisroel. In addition to those physically present at the gravesite of the holy Tanna, Rav Shimon bar Yochai, the gathering will be attended virtually by thousands of people who will join in live from around the world.

The “Maamid Rachamim Sha’ali” will storm the Heavens as they plead to Hashem Yisborach near the gravesite of the holy Tanna, Rav Shimon bar Yochai, to show His Divine mercy and send refuos to those suffering with the dreaded disease.

The Maamid is taking place in conjunction with a major campaign to benefit Rofeh Cholim Yerushalaim (RCY), the Israeli branch of RCCS, which has cared for over 1,300 patients in the last year alone, guiding them throughout the process of diagnostics and treatments, placing them on the road to recovery, and caring for the needs of the family.

After The Meron Tragedy This Family Started A Movement

Shloimi and Feige Steinmetz, self-proclaimed “simple Jews” from Montreal, were catapulted into international ambassadors for Emunah and resilience after the tremendous tragedy in Meron, where their son Dovi perished along with 44 others.

Shloime’s eulogy for his son set a campaign that would change people’s lives in motion, leading to the formation of the Ani Maamin Initiative. Thousands of people have developed deeper Emunah and Bitachon through the different projects of the initiative, and the Steinmetzs’ story of creating light amid terrible darkness continues to strengthen and inspire everyone who encounters them. Breaching the Police Barricade Entering Kever Rashbi

Lag Baomer 5782/2022.

After waiting for hours for police to open their blockades to Kever Rashbi, the thousands of men who traveled from all over Israel and beyond, were finally able to gain access and Daven at the holy site on the special day of Lag Baomer.

They danced and sang for a long time and the courtyard suddenly became a dance floor as was in years past. Musicians were later brought to the scene using a portable speaker.

The policemen left the area and a number of volunteers from the "Hilula D'rshabi" organization of Rav Kuperstock Z"L, became the ushers and took out old signs to direct the crowd.

LIVE: Lag Baomer in Meron 2022

Tens of thousands of people are expected to flock to Mount Meron on Wednesday night to celebrate Lag Ba’omer, exactly one year after 45 people died there in a stampede.

The disaster took place close to 12:45 a.m. when Lag Ba’omer fell on April 30. It began when about 20,000 haredi (ultra-Orthodox) men and boys left a bonfire held by the Toldos Aharon Hassidim at a compound near the tomb of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai.

They headed down a narrow passageway known as Dov Bridge, which ended in a 90-degree turn to the right and then 11 stairs down to ground level. The stairs were narrower than the passageway, creating a bottleneck. When a few people slipped, a human crush began, resulting in the largest civilian disaster in Israel’s history.

Over the past year, the government has ordered extensive changes at the site, demolishing illegally built structures, including Dov Bridge, and widening existing passageways.

“This is a complicated event since there are many changes that were done to the site and to the way things were,” Israel Police Northern District Chief Shimon Lavi said. “There are limitations on the number of people allowed on the mountain, so only 16,000 will be permitted there at any given time.”

The event is being coordinated with the Religious Services Ministry, whose minister Matan Kahana, stepped down on Friday due to internal Yamina Party politics.

Tickets need to be preordered and will serve as both transportation and entry passes. Entry will be staggered, with 4,000 people allowed per hour. They will be given passes for a four-hour stay, meaning that no more than 16,000 pilgrims will be on the mountain at any time.

“If you do not have a ticket, you have no business coming to Meron,” Lavi said.

No private vehicles will be allowed to approach the site, and all public and private transportation will be diverted to 11 bus terminals, from which shuttles will ferry people to the compound.

One bonfire-lighting ceremony will be held; food will not be sold on-site; people will visit the tomb in a moving line, with separate entry and exit lines and a short duration by the tomb; and a tent will be set up outside for those who wish to remain and pray.
