Thousands Attend Hachnasas 75 Sifrei Torah at Kosel

A mega a Hachnasas Seferei Torah took place at the Kosel Wednesday evening. Thousands of people had gathered to see the 75 Torah scrolls which were repaired and brought to Israel from around the world in memory of the 75 Israelis killed in last years Operation Protective Edge war in Gaza.

The ceremony was attended by families of the fallen, President Reuven Rivlin, First lady Sara Netanyahu, Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon, Chief Rabbis David Lau and Yitzhak Yosef, Western Wall Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch, IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, head of the Shin Bet Yoram Cohen, the Commissioner of Prisons, army generals and many others.

Participating in the ceremony were Israeli President Reuven Rivlin,  Minister of Defense Moshe Ya'alon, Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gadi Eizenkot, the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi David Lau, Sephardi Chief Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef, Chief Rabbi of the Western Wall Shmuel Rabinovitch, Chief Chaplain of IDF Rafi Peretz, sponsors Yad Lebanm and FIDF, along with major donors, and members of bereaved families.

The program began with shofar blowing. IDF Chief Chazan Shai Abramson sang, accompanied by IDF cantorial Choir. Sifrei Torah were carried in by representatives of various service units. A live video feed enabled those at home to see, while thousands in the Old City could not even get close because of the size of the crowd.
