Throughout our history, no matter the darkness we faced, Shema Yisrael was always on our lips. It’s the first thing a child learns, and often the last words a Jew says as he departs this world. But today, with so many neshamos drifting from Yiddishkeit, it feels more urgent than ever that every Jew knows these words, and for those who do, to truly internalize them. Shema Yisrael is the language of our neshama.

Singing “Guf VeNeshama” with Amir Dadon in Zedekiah’s Cave was deeply emotional. This song was written to bring the words of Shema Yisrael back to the center, so they can live inside us, as they always have. Watching the audience tap into their neshamos and connect to Hashem through tefila together was moving and unforgettable.

In honor of the Three Weeks, Yaakov Shwekey releases a new a cappella version of his powerful song Kaddish, featuring for the first time the renowned vocal group The Maccabeats, who also produced the vocal arrangement. The song Kaddish was written In memory of the fallen IDF soldiers, and the accompanying video has stirred deep emotion throughout the Jewish world.

Yaakov Shwekey is Releasing a New Single and music video titled “Kaddish,” which he co-wrote and Produced With Yitzy Waldner, in Memory of his Parents, Fallen IDF soldiers, the Murdered Hostages, and all those who lost their lives Al Kiddush Hashem.

The song was Arranged by Yanky Steinmetz and is Accompanied By an Especially Moving Video depicting the Names and Faces of all the fallen heroes.

In the Video, Shwekey wears a unique Tallit, Embroidered with the Names of the Soldiers who perished HY”D, An initiative by his dear friend Shai Graucher.

Yaakov Shwekey - Guf Uneshama - Music Video

The Single, 'Guf Venshama’ is the theme song from the first EP album that will be released in a few weeks. The song 'Guf Venshama’ deals with the spiritual connection and the common denominator of every Jew, the recitation of "Shema Yisrael". The song was written and composed by Avi Ohayon, arranged by Matan Dror, and accompanied by a sensitive and moving music video produced by 'OlamMedia'. David Fadida oversees managing the production.

Ever since Simchat Torah, a profound sense of upheaval has gripped millions of Jews globally, leaving them with a feeling of groundlessness. In the footage, the boundless anguish in their eyes is evident, yet amidst it all, one constant remains—the anchoring island of sanity for every Jew in any circumstance, at all times, and particularly in recent months. It is the act of covering their eyes and uttering the words of Shema Yisrael, akin to saying, "Like a lost child, I came back to You."

The album 'Guf Venshama’ marks the initiation of an expansive project comprising a series of EP albums scheduled for release in the coming months. Within each album, Shwekey will showcase an array of musical styles, spanning Hassidic, Israeli, and English genres, featuring captivating duets with various singers. The underlying theme of the project is the promotion of unity across all segments of the Jewish people, a sentiment artistically echoed in the music. Each album will boast its unique artistic direction, contributing collectively to form a comprehensive and harmonious musical mosaic.

"The goal of 'Guf Venshama’ is to make sure that there is no Jewish child anywhere in the world who does not know how to say 'Shema Yisrael'," says Yaakov Shwekey. "With this idea we started this project, and the challenging times that the Jewish people are going through now only strengthened the importance of this message."

When Yaakov Shwekey walked into ArtScroll/Mesorah headquarters last year with a group of children from the Special Children’s Center of Lakewood, the idea first popped into his head. And the idea had been germinating ever since.

Yaakov saw the mural on the wall of Rabbi Meir Zlotowitz zt”l, the legendary founder of ArtScroll/Mesorah Publications, along with a beautiful tribute penned by his partner, Rabbi Nosson Scherman, depicting the world-changing impact that this one man had on the world.

Yaakov wanted to express those very sentiments through song, paying homage to Rav Meir ben Rav Aharon zt”l, who lit up the world with his vision and dedication to spreading Torah to the four corners of the globe.

It was thus that this song, Veha’er Eineinu, was born.

The result is a stunning production that movingly portrays the story of a child who questions his own ability to make a difference, but goes on to become the greatest Torah disseminator of his time, forever changing the Jewish landscape.

The takeaway? Hashem gave each of us talents and abilities. And just as Rabbi Meir Zlotowitz did, so can you use yours to change the world.

Pesach In Florida: Shwekey & Akiva Concert

In the weeks and months leading up to Pesach, preparations are gearing up for two first-of-their-kind concerts in Miami and Orlando, catering for the tens of thousands heading there for Pesach.

The concert blends the classics with the new, with Shwekey’s popular hits over the decades, such as Racheim, Vehi Sheamda, and Eish, being complemented by Akiva’s breakthrough presence. Though a newcomer on the scene of Jewish music, Akiva’s music videos have already garnered millions of YouTube hits, and his songs have reached the #1 spot on Israeli radio numerous times.

The two performed together a few weeks ago at the prestigious Hasc Concert, and participants were swept away by the powerful performance and unique blend of American and Israeli music between Shwekey and Akiva. Immediately after the concert, the two got together to plan additional joint performances and look forward to a lasting friendship and additional collaborations.

Event producers told COLlive: “We’ve set out to do something unique. We’re taking our cue from the prestigious Pesach programs, who have hosted musical events on Chol Hamoed with fantastic production quality for years. We want to bring the same experience to the masses headed to Florida for Yom Tov.

“Following recent trends here in the States, with the wild popularity of Israeli music and performers, we are excited to host Akiva as he increasingly furthers his efforts to touch Jews of all backgrounds!

“Participants at the recent performances by Israeli singers here in the States, accompanied by Israeli producers, have picked up on the incredible quality Israeli producers bring with them. This Pesach, we want to “bring Binyanei Ha’Umah to the shores of Miami'', so to speak.
