The Sages tell us the story behind Emperor Nero's conviction that the Jews were rebelling against Rome. The nation had fallen to a low spiritual state characterized by baseless hatred. The story of Kamtza and Bar Kamtza was the pivotal event that ignited Nero's rage and caused the destruction of the Holy Temple:
"Because of Kamtza and Bar Kamtza, Jerusalem was destroyed." Gemara Gittin 55–56

"The Key Is In Your Hands" Rabbi Gavriel Sassoon
“Tisha B’av – The Key is in Your Hands”
Why do we cry for something that happened nearly 2,000 years ago? And what can each one of us do about it?
Produced for Oorah’s campers at both of Oorah's TheZone summer camps, as well as for Oorah families worldwide, this production is inspiring and enlightening no matter what level you're on.
Narrated by Rabbi Chaim Asher Reichman of Oorah's Kiruv department. Special short message at the end from HaRav Chaim Mintz, Oorah's founder and spiritual leader.
Interviewing R’ Gavriel Sassoon for this production was a truly humbling experience. His message here is short and direct, brought to life with a special tribute to his son, Dovid a”h.
May we merit the coming of Moshiach speedily in our times, and may the Jewish people “cry no more”.

When Margot Grabie is driving with her kids in the car she’s on the lookout for people who are texting and driving.
She’s sending her own message behind the wheel, and it’s plastered with washable marker on her rear windshield: “My kids ask you to not text and drive. :)”
“I thought to myself, why can’t I make my car into a mobile billboard?” the mother told CBS2/KCAL9’s Erica Nochlin. “I feel like everyone has the power to make change.”

Orthodox Jews Taking Jiu Jitsu Lessons for Self Defense
A new version of martial arts is being taught to and practiced by Orthodox Jews in Brooklyn.
CBS2’s Scott Rapoport talked to a man who has been called the “most dangerous Jew in NYC” — Although you wouldn’t know it by looking at him.
Former NYC probation officers and Washington Heights native Steve Isaak, 67, has developed a personalized style of martial arts called Shima Juijitsu.
He’s been teaching it for more than 40 years to a devoted following of the city’s most observant, Orthodox Jews, in a Brighton Beach studio. Part of his mission is for it to be self-defense from anti-semetism.
“Everyone need self-defense but they need it more than most, based on the history of Jewish people,” Isaak said.

Grizzly Bear Attacks Woman in a Glass Cube
A clip from a Japanese television show has emerged online and the content is utterly terrifying.
The 14-second-video, shows a large grizzly bear pushing a see-through cube containing a woman.
The woman is thrown about inside and can be heard screaming in panic while rolling onto her back and tucking her legs up into her body.
Meanwhile the bear circles the cube and sets about looking for a weak point in the hope of gaining access.
The woman inside captures her perspective on a hand-held camera and films the bear's attack.
The video concludes with the grizzly sitting down and pushing the box with its large paws - shaking it violently.
The clip is believed to be a preview for the programme Sekai No Hatte Madde Itte Q! and features a bear called Dakota. And the frightening game, which merely appears to test a competitor's nerve, is entitled the Predator Shield.

Soldiers Narrowly Escape Grenade Blast While Training
Three soldiers of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army successfully escaped a hand grenade explosion on July 12 training in southwest China’s Yunnan Province.
A hand grenade slipped from a soldier’s hand during training due to the soldier’s sweaty hand and fell beside them.
As it happened, the soldier, along with other two soldiers, swiftly made judgment about its drop point and jumped into a hole nearby, and the hand grenade exploded after one second. None of the soldiers are injured.

Coping with a child or spouse that is seriously ill is one of life’s most challenging and overwhelming situations. Day and night become a blur, normalcy becomes a distant dream and the rest of life’s routine challenges become exceedingly difficult by the pressing needs of the illness.
Doctor appointments replace grocery shopping, Surgery replaces supper time and therapies replace homework. The entire family, especially the children in the home, become adversely affected by the lack of the parents’ focus. Life becomes one endless whirl of worry, despair and imbalance.
Imagine if these parents would be able to take a short respite from the turmoil to refocus their spirits, rebalance their capacities and rejuvenate their lives. How amazing would such a breather be for them, their children and the entire family?
REJUVENATE has indeed imagined the unimaginable benefit that such a respite would afford these families who are suffering so much. REJUVENATE has indeed accepted the task and undertaken the challenge to help these parents and their families!
REJUVENATE, works tirelessly to arrange and implement much-needed, all-expense-paid vacations for parents or spouses that need them most.
From the travel arrangements to the accommodations, from the food to the fun, REJUVENATE sees to it that every detail of the trip is a stress-free breather that infuses the parents with a renewed life-force.
Since its inception, REJUVENATE has paid and arranged for scores of vacations for weary parents. Time and time again, these trips have proven to rejuvenate body and soul to enable parents to return to their families fresh and alive with the necessary stamina to be there for them and face the challenges at hand with renewed strength and fortitude.

Fearless Toddler Helps Dad Fly Plane
Lea Langumier, the four-year-old girl who charmed the internet as she giggled her way through a stomach-churning aerobatic flight in her father’s plane, is back in the air – and this time she’s been given a taste of space flight.
After watching a clip of Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield brushing his teeth on board the International Space Station, Lea, from Lachute near Montreal in Quebec, told her father Raphael how cool it was to see the toothbrush floating in the air.
“So we took a flight to make it even cooler,” said pilot Raphael. The video shows what happened as he took his small plane through a series of aerobatic manoeuvres to make a toothbrush ‘fly’ through the air.
Lea, who sat in the back seat during her earlier daredevil flight, now takes to the co-pilot’s chair and looks like a natural – not surprising as not only does her father run his own aviation company, but her mother was working as a flight attendant while pregnant and Lea has been flying since she was two years old.

Yeshiva Chachmei Lublin
In the year 2012 renovations were held in a building at the old town of Lublin. When the construction workers got to the attic they did not expect to find there a collection of about 2700 glass negatives, hidden for more than 70 years.
The preliminary cleaning, segregating and scanning of the collection were conducted by Christopher Janus, the supervisor of the renovations. Most of the photos depict the Jewish life and inhabitants of Lublin between the two world wars (1914-1939), and they come in a variety of formats
Until today most of these people remained unknown, including the photographers themselves.

Surfer Fends Off A Shark Attack
A professional surfer had a close encounter with two sharks during a competition in South Africa on Sunday — and the dramatic ordeal was captured on live television.
Australian surfer Mick Fanning fended off an attack and escaped the tense confrontation unscathed. But the scare led organizers of the J-Bay Open in Eastern Cape to cancel the finals.
In terrifying footage broadcast on live TV, Fanning can be seen fighting to stay on his board as at least one of the sharks thrashes violently in the water.
Rescuers quickly responded to the scene. Fanning and another finalist, Julian Wilson, were brought to shore by boat, according to the World Surf League.

Yonatan Razel’s Hachnosas Sefer Torah of Gratitude
Six years ago, 4-year-old Rivki–the daughter of singer Yonatan and Yael Razel, had suffered a traumatic brain injury and was in critical condition. For the first few days after the accident, it wasn’t clear at all if Rivki would even survive. And even after her condition stabilized it wasn’t clear at all if she would ever walk again or talk again.
But B”H, through miracles, today Rivki is a regular, healthy, cheerful 4th grader.
In honor of the miracles they experienced, the Razels commissioned the writing of a Torah scroll for Nachlaot’s Batei Broide Shul in Yerushalayim.
