Yeshiva Chachmei Lublin

In the year 2012 renovations were held in a building at the old town of Lublin. When the construction workers got to the attic they did not expect to find there a collection of about 2700 glass negatives, hidden for more than 70 years.

The preliminary cleaning, segregating and scanning of the collection were conducted by Christopher Janus, the supervisor of the renovations. Most of the photos depict the Jewish life and inhabitants of Lublin between the two world wars (1914-1939), and they come in a variety of formats

Until today most of these people remained unknown, including the photographers themselves.
