Google's Creepy New Robot Dog
Robotics company Boston Dynamics has a new four-legged addition to its family: a 160-pound quadruped named Spot. In this video the Google-owned company shows Spot gallivanting with a weird equestrian hop through office corridors, up concrete stairs, and along rocky hills with little trouble. Spot has a sensor head that helps it navigate and negotiate rough terrain. Spot even keeps his balance after being kicked by one of its human overlords. You can almost hear the canine whimper over the drone of his hydraulics.
We hope in the future when robots run everything, when they see the people kicking them, they wont get angry. So just saying, Gruntig is against robot cruelty and we believe that we can all live peacefully together.

Snowmobiler Triggers Avalanche, Gets Buried
This is the incredible moment a snowmobiler in the back country in Wyoming - near the Idaho border. was buried under an avalanche he triggered - and was saved by his quick-thinking friends.
The video - taken from a helmet cam by Mike Salmon, shows the snowmobiler speeding up a steep mountainside covered with virgin snow.
Then, in an instant, the disaster strikes. Almost in slow motion, a wide swath of snow breaks loose from the mountain and begins to crash down the side, swallowing the rider under a massive wall.
As the avalanche tumbled down the mountain, Mr Salmon and the other snowmobilers quickly realized that it could bury them, as well - despite them taking up a post several hundred yards away. They quickly drove away from the avalanche until the snow came to a rest.
Then within seconds, they spotted their friend's snowmobile, which was on its side with a ski sticking out of the snow. Just a few feet away, the was the rider - who had miraculously come to a rest with his helmet sticking out. As his friends work to dig him out, it's clear he's shaken up but uninjured.

Amazing Octopus Camoflage
From the author: "This guy took me completely by surprise while snorkeling in the Caribbean. I dove down to have a look at the shell that you can see just under where the octopus appears and as I approached the octopus came out of hiding. I had literally no idea he was there until I was about a metre away."
Watch it again and paused the video to see if you could find the octopus before it changes colors. Pretty amazing.

Filming Frustrates Williamsburg Chasidic Community
Some Jewish people in Williamsburg say the city is being inconsiderate of their religious beliefs by permitting TV and movie shoots to take place in the area on Saturdays.
The New York City Department of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting indicates that it tries to post no parking signs in anticipation of an upcoming shoot as soon as possible. However, residents on Division Street say signs asking residents to move their cars last Saturday by 9 a.m. were not posted until Friday.
They say they did not have any time to move their cars because they were observing the Sabbath. Some cars were ticketed.
The residents agree that TV and movie shoots are a boost for the economy, but they are asking for a little sensitivity when it comes to their faith.
Even if they are given ample time to move cars, some Jewish residents ask that no shoots ever be scheduled on Jewish High Holy Days.

Train Plows Through Blizzard Snow
A New Brunswick, Canada man captured video of a train challenging the deep post-blizzard snow and plowing victoriously through a high roadside snow bank.
Darren Gordon said he set up his camera on a tripod near the tracks Tuesday in Salisbury when his radio scanner alerted him to the oncoming train and he was able to record the vehicle pushing its way through so much snow that it repeatedly disappeared in white clouds.
The train's final push through the roadside snowbank left Gordon and his camera covered in snow.
"I was thinking...'I'm going to get a little snow shower here,'" Gordon told Global News. "But me and the camera survived."
Gordon said the snow was deep at the time of the train's passing as a result of New Brunswick being hit with more than 40 inches of snow during the previous two weeks.
The train, which Gordon identified as Canadian National Railway locomotive 2304 (ES44DC), was built in 2008.

Truck Has No Reverse
What would you do if your vehicle's reverse gear went bust? Well, you'd try to fix the transmission, obviously, but what would you do in the meantime? This guy came up with an emergency reverse system until he gets his Nissan Pathfinder's gearbox repaired.
Basically, his solution follows the same principle of two meshing gears that turn in opposite directions.
