Political Dignitaries Light The Menorah
Chabad delegation celebrating Chanukah with the Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper at his residence 24 Sussex Drive. The Prime Minister delivered an address just prior to the lighting of the Menorah, and was very vocal in his unwavering support of Israel and the Jewish People.

Thursday’s celebration included the reciting of traditional prayers and the lighting of candles in a 90-year old menorah from a temple in Long Island, N.Y., that sustained heavy flooding during Superstorm Sandy. The song was written in honor of the great Dnipropetrovsk Chabad community, and the Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminetzky, who inaugurated the “Menorah” Jewish global center in Ukraine these days. a beautiful complex built in the shape of a Menorah.
Performed by HaMenagnim orchestra and Chaim Israel, together with seven hundred yeshiva students.
Chaim tells the audience how this song was born when he visited the Baal Hatanaya's Ohel in Haditch, and how he met HaMenagnim orchestra in Ukraine, at Rabbi Kaminetzky’s Simcha.

Jacob Ostreicher Gives Lengthy Interview From Hospital
Chasidic Jacob Ostreicher, 53, was born and raised in Brooklyn. In December, 2010, he invested in land in Bolivia and managed a rice business there until he was arrested on June 3, 2011 by Bolivian officials. Separated from his family, Ostreicher began a hunger strike in April to bring attention to the violation of his human rights. His hearings have been delayed more than a dozen times.
Under Bolivian law, a person can be held 18 months without charges, a time frame which expired this week. The government has produced no evidence Ostreicher has committed any crime in that time, and has denied him bail. Last week Bolivian media and the Associated Press reported that seven people have been arrested in a corruption investigation into the case, including the legal adviser of the Ministry of Government, 2 weeks ago Ostreicher was sent to the clinic, where he says he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
