Bus Driver Rescues Baby Wandering on Overpass
Newly released video shows the dramatic rescue of a baby wandering alone through the streets of Milwaukee with no shoes.
A Milwaukee County Transit Service bus driver named Irena Ivic saw the infant walking alone, wearing a red onesie and a diaper in ”freezing temperatures” along her route on Dec. 22, according to a news release from the transit authority. Video of the rescue was released Thursday.
Authorities have since learned that the baby is less than a year old, according to the release. Police said the boy’s mother, who may have been suffering from mental health issues, left the boy outside, and that the baby was placed with his father after the rescue, according to WITI.
As the bus sat waiting for police and EMS responders to arrive, one passenger walked up to Ivic as she held the baby in the driver’s seat. The passenger can be seen in the video giving up her coat and wrapping the baby in it.
When authorities arrived at the scene, the baby boy was fast asleep in Ivic’s arms and the passenger’s coat.

Railway Workers Save Goat Buried In Snow
Two heroic railway workers used shovels to rescue a chamois goat buried deep in a pile of snow.
On Tuesday January 8 2018. employees from the Austrian Federal Railways ÖBB were ploughing the rail tracks in Gesaeuse national park in Austria after heavy snowfall.
As they started to remove the powder, the goat's horns emerged from the thick white mantle first, then the animal started wriggling to free itself from the hole it had fallen into.
Finally, the chamois got up and rushed off towards the frosty bush as the rescuers celebrated their life-saving effort.

Decoy Deputy with Radar Gun Slows Speeding Drivers
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office brought on a new deputy this week that's cut out specifically for speed enforcement.
Drivers near the Fern Bluff Elementary School in Round Rock TX. may have noticed a life-sized cutout Tuesday morning of a deputy holding a radar gun.
Sheriff Robert Chody took a picture of one of his own traffic deputies and had it blown up to serve as a decoy in places like school zones.
"We want people to think that he's a real deputy," Lt. Gary Haston said.
"When [drivers] enter a school zone, they see him with a radar gun," he added. "They believe he's actually radar-ing traffic, so therefore they're going to slow down."
Sheriff Chody tweeted out a video showing the convincing cutout being deployed for the first time.

Couple Whose Baby Died After Ofra Attack Released
Shira Ish-Ran, the woman whose prematurely born baby died after she was shot in a terror attack last month left the hospital, on her feet.
“We are a walking miracle,” she told reporters as she left the hospital. “I arrived at the hospital lying down and left walking.”
Ish-Ran, who left leaning on a walker, was seriously injured in the shooting attack on Dec. 9 outside the West Bank settlement of Ofra. Her doctor, Dr. Alon Schwarz, told reporters a week after the attack that she will need a long recovery period and is expected to be able to bear children in the future. Her husband, Amichai, was shot three times in the leg during the attack.
“It’s not clear to me how our rehabilitation has progressed so quickly and in such a good way,” she said. “Your prayers help, keep praying, I also want to thank the hospital staff, how much they did for us and with sensitivity, it’s just unbelievable.” She also said she thanked God for the miracles every day.
Their baby, named Amiad Yisrael, was delivered from his injured mother and died three days after his premature birth at 30 weeks gestation. His parents were able to hold him right before he died but were not able to attend his funeral.
Israeli security forces on Tuesday arrested the Palestinian man, Asem Barghouti, who participated in the Ofra attack with his brother, who was the gunman.

Highway Sign Falls on Vehicle
Terrifying dash-cam video shows the moment a freeway sign crushed a moving car on melbourne’s tullamarine freeway on Tuesday.
The driver, Nella Lettieri, 53, suffered minor neck injuries and was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition, Ambulance Victoria told Australian affiliate Nine Network.
The video of the large sign falling was caught by a dash cam of a car driving behind her.
Contractors installed the sign in 2017, Nine Network reported. It’s not known what caused the sign to fall, and authorities said there was no sign that the sign was going to fall.
Engineers are conducting safety checks and investigating.

Quick Thinking Pedestrian Outwits Robbers
A quick-thinking pedestrian outwits a robber who pursuing him by car by swiftly changing direction and running away.
CCTV footage, believed to have been captured in Argentina, shows a man walking down the street with a bag of shopping.
A vehicle's headlights shine bright as it approaches the pedestrian and slows to a halt beside the man.
Realising he is in danger, the man begins to race down the street away from the robbers.
But the driver of the car accelerates at speed and reverses backwards, chasing the man ominously as he tries to escape.
But the man outwits the robbers and suddenly changes direction and runs quickly away before the car has time to catch up.
And as the car tries to follow, the man changes direction again to confuse the driver and manages to run down a side street away from the robbers.

Heaviest Load on Highway Crawls Through Canada
The largest load ever to hit Alberta’s highways has begun its 77 mile journey.
The splitter, a piece of petrochemical equipment, is being moved from Edmonton to a work site near Fort Saskatchewan, Alta.
According to the Alberta government, the “historic super load” weighs 820 tonnes and measures 96 metres long – making it about as heavy as eight blue whales.
The splitter is so large that it takes up the width of an entire two-lane road, including the shoulder. People driving in its path are being warned to expect delays as it will be travelling below the speed limit and occasionally against the flow of traffic.
The splitter left Edmonton Sunday night, and stopped at a rest area outside the city early Monday morning. It is scheduled to be moved to Lamont, Alta., on Tuesday before making the final leg of its journey on Wednesday.
Once complete in late 2021, the Heartland Petrochemical Complex is scheduled to be Canada's first integrated propane dehydrogenation and polypropylene facility.

Police in Corpus Christi TX released dash-cam footage of a 70-year-old man being rescued after a fiery wrong-way crash on New Year's Day.
The crash happened early Jan. 1 on State Highway 358, according to police. The vehicle flipped on its side after the crash.
Video released Friday shows a group of officers and civilians flip the burning vehicle to rescue the man. The video stops before he is removed from the vehicle, but officials said he survived.
"The efforts from the officers and civilians are commended for saving the life of the 70-year-old male, who is believed would not have survived without their heroic efforts," police said in a statement.
The 70-year-old man was not identified. Four other people were injured in the crash and taken to a hospital, according to The Corpus Christi Caller Times.
Richard Lopez, the 28-year-old driver of the wrong-way vehicle, died at the scene, the newspaper reported.
Alcohol was likely a factor in the crash, KRIS-TV reported.

Vintage Footage LSJS "Shir" 1977
In 1977 the Jewish music scene was quite different than today. MBD had already released a few albums, with the album "I'd Rather Pray and Sing" being released the year before, Avraham Fried hadn't yet began his professional adult career. Instead there was the Ohr Chodosh, Yeshiva Diaspora, the Rabbi's Sons, and some others. Even the boys choirs of today were either just starting out or non existent. While Miami Boys choir was in the process of being established that very year, Tzlil V'zemer was still a few years away from forming, and the Yeshiva Boys choir a few decades.

In the USA there was Eli Teitelbaum's Pirchei Boys Choir, in England, Yigal Calek and the London School of Jewish Song. Yigal Calek a legendary composer and choir director was so popular back then, that in the early 1970's a young MBD once opened for a concert by the the London group.
Established in 1968, the London School of Jewish Song released in 1976 "London Live" an 11 track record of songs recorded live at concerts while touring Europe and the USA.
The footage below features a song off of the "London Live" album, as they performed live on a local Minneapolis television network, prior to their Chanukah concert arranged by Chabad of Minnesota, directed by Rabbi Moshe Feller.
Introducing the choir is a younger Rabbi Manis Friedman, long time Chabad Shliach in the Twin Cities, and director of the Beis Chana school for girls.
Watch below the Pirchei London Choir sing "Shir".
Composed by Yigal Calek
Arranged by Yisroel Lamm
Soloist: Philip Rosenberg.
Part two of this series will Iy'h be released in the coming days.
