Jewish Family Has Vacation Nightmare in Miami
A Montreal family is turning to the public for help, hoping someone saw the thief who stole their luggage from their car in broad daylight shortly after they landed in Miami.
Shlomo and Devory Kadosh had just arrived in South Florida with five of their children and were on their way to their hotel when they made a short stop at Haulover Beach on Collins Avenue at approximately noon on Wednesday to enjoy the sunshine,
Returning to their white Toyota, which they had parked in a public lot, they found that the SUV’s two passenger side windows had been shattered and the interior of the vehicle completely emptied out.

World’s Longest Zip Line Opens
The highest mountain in the United Arab Emirates has broken the Guinness World Record for the world's longest zip-line
The length of the zip-line at Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE has broken the record and is 1.7 miles (2.8km) long – the equivalent of more than 28 football pitches. It has broken the previous world record, which was 1.36 miles (2.2km) in Puerto Rico, and thrill-seekers can travel along the zip-line at speeds of up to 93mph (150kph) for two or three minutes at a time.
Adrenaline junkies will travel along the zip-line between 74mph (120kph) to 93mph (150kph) at a height of 1,680 metres above sea level. The zip-line has a cable that weighs over six tons and it is now open to the public who can fly across UAE's highest mountain in a 'superman' position.
The zip-line is priced at £125 per rider. The line is part of a multi-million dollar tourism project and is called 'The Jebel Jais Flight'. It took more than four months to construct the zip-line, which was a joint project between the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority and Toro Verde, a world leading zip-line operator.

Bear Pushes Injured Trainer Around in Wheelchair
A bear pushing a man around in a wheelchair isn’t the first thing you’d expect to see on the streets of Moscow, but that is exactly what Yasha the Bear was doing on Tuesday.
Trainer Oleg Aleksandrov had an accident at Nizhegorodsky Circus, falling 18 metres from the central dome, breaking both legs and an arm. He was raising three baby bears at the time.
"They were tiny back then and we bought up all the children’s food in the shops because that’s what they ate. We fed them from a bottle and raised them since then," Oleg said. However, following the accident, Oleg was hospitalised and taken away from his bears or "hairy children" as he calls them for four months.
"I was very worried about how our relationship would change," he said, adding "this thought was spinning around my head all the time I lay in hospital. I used to imagine whether or not they would accept me back. There could be a distance between us."
Fortunately, everything ended pawsitively when Oleg was reunited with the bears last week and they accepted his scent "as one of their own." Yasha the Bear seems only too happy to help Oleg get around until he’s fit again.

Wringing Out a Water Soaked Washcloth in Space
What Happens When You Wring Out a Washcloth in Space?
Two 10th-grade students wanted to know what happens when you wring out a water-soaked washcloth in zero gravity. Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield, who currently lives on the International Space Station, was happy to oblige.
Hadfield used a tightly packed washcloth (which he remarks looks like a hockey puck) that was available on the ISS. Rather than dipping the cloth into a vessel — which wouldn't hold water in space — Hadfield squirted water on the material.
Once the cloth was soaking wet, Hadfield twisted the rag, and the water began to form a gel-like tube. "Because of the surface tension of the water, it actually runs along the surface of the cloth and then up into my hand, almost like you had Jello on your hands," explained Hadfield.

Package Thief gets Instant Karma
Doesn't take a genius to identity the benefits to having a camera on your doorbell. The first is that you can see who's on your doorstep. The second is that you get great footage like this:
One opportunistic thief learned quickly that crime doesn't pay, after she badly broke her leg in the middle of stealing packages off someone's doorstep. 'Epic fail,' as the phrase goes.
The instant karma took place on a porch in a quiet suburban street in Snohomish Country, Washington, leaving her accomplice with no option but to come and save her.
Despite the thief's serious injury, the pair still managed to get away with the goods - although there was probably some explaining to do in ER afterwards.

Putin, Netanyahu Visit Jewish Museum
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday visited an exhibition “Sobibor: Victorious over Death” that opened at the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center in Moscow.
The Sobibor concentration camp (in Poland) was in operation from May 1942 to October 1943. According to various estimates, from 150,000 to 250,000 Jews from Poland and other European countries were killed in its gas chambers disguised as shower rooms. The camp ceased to exist after the prisoners’ uprising led by Soviet officer Alexander Pechersky.
Netanyahu came to Moscow for talks covering the Syrian conflict and Iran's role in the Middle East.
The two leaders on January 29 also discussed bilateral cooperation in trade and the cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as "pressing international and regional issues" including the peace process between the Israelis and the Palestinians and the situation in Syria, the Kremlin said.

Holocaust Survivor Teaches Grandchildren to Raise Voices
Six million Jews were killed in the Holocaust. At 81, Nat Shaffir is one of the youngest survivors, and he knows he is running out of time to tell his story. But he also knows that his grandchildren will keep his voice alive.
When Nat Shaffir looks at his beloved grandchildren, he beams with pride. But he also wonders.
He wonders if they could survive.
He sees them at their basketball games and birthday parties, and he sees himself at 9, promising to take care of his sisters as his father was taken away by the Nazis. He sees himself playing a dangerous game of trickery to keep his family alive through the winter of 1945 in the Jewish ghetto.
Shaffir survived the Holocaust as a child, emigrated to Israel and then the United States, settled down and raised a big, happy family. Five children, 12 grandchildren: Each named after one of his 32 relatives murdered by the Nazis in the Holocaust, which killed 6 million Jews total.
At 81, Shaffir is one of the youngest Holocaust survivors, and he is keenly aware that in a couple decades, there will be no more.

Lifesaving Drone Rescues Swimmers
Help came from the air for two teenage swimmers struggling in powerful surf, in what the local authorities called a 'world first'. A member of the public spotted the 16- and 17-year-old boys caught in a rip current in rough seas off Lennox Head, a New South Wales beach popular with surfers.
A Westpac Little Ripper Lifesaver drone was quickly launched and directed to their location, where it deployed a life raft then used by the pair to get back to safety.
Australia, whose 24 million people live mostly on the coast, had 291 drowning deaths in the year ending 30 June 2017
