Dvar Torah Parshas Vayakhel 5776
Rabbi Benny's Hilarious Torah Thought - The One With the Watermelon Fund - Vayakhel - Why did the very skilled craftsmen who worked on the Mishkon also spend their time crafting the very simple items such as hooks and pegs? Couldn't they work on the elaborate stuff, while leaving the simple work to other, less talented workers?
Ki Tisa - learning from our mistakes: Weekly Insights with Rabbi Lankry - In Parshas Ki Tisa, where the Jewish people are found building the golden calf, it's difficult to understand how they could possibly do such a thing, especially right after receiving the Torah.

Child Miraculously Escapes From Under Truck in China
CCTV footage shows a motorcycle driver with his 5 year old daughter being knocked down by a 20-meter-long truck waiting at the traffic lights in Taizhou, China. The child was thrown under the trailer while her father was trying to pull his daughter and the motorcycle out. The toddler escaped with minor injuries when the truck stopped. According to the local police, both vehicles violated traffic regulations.
Instrument Makes Music with 2,000 Marbles
Swedish musician Martin Molin has long had experience with esoteric instruments like the glockenspiel, traktofon, or Theremin, but he may have topped his musical prowess with the invention of his own new instrument: the Wintergatan Marble Machine, a hand-cranked music box loaded with instruments including a circuit of 2,000 cascading steel marbles. As the devices cycles it activates a vibraphone, bass, kick drum, cymbal and other instruments that play a score programmed into a 32 bar loop comprised of LEGO technic parts. The marbles are moved internally through the machine using funnels, pulleys, and tubes.
Molin began work on the marble machine in August 2014 and hoped to spend about two months on the project. Its complexity soon spiraled out of control as all 3,000 internal parts had to be designed and fabricated by hand, a time-consuming process that eventually took 14 months. An early version was designed using 3D software, but it was easier for Molin to create parts on the fly leading to it’s Frankenstein appearance.

Toddler Falls Out of Van on Busy Highway
A terrifying video has emerged from China of the moment a young child fell out of the boot of a moving vehicle onto the road.
The footage was captured on a dash cam on the car behind in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, on the morning of February 27,
Luckily the driver, identified as Jiang, immediately stopped, preventing the little boy from harm. The boy's grandfather, Yang Defu, was unaware he had fallen out of the back and drove on without stopping. The silver people carrier had been stopped at the traffic lights when the incident took place.
Dash-cam footage showed the young boy, who looks to be around two years old, slam onto the middle of the road when the boot opened. The boy rolled on the floor, got up and started running towards the vehicle.
However, the vehicle was driving off without him.
Stunned, the boy stood looking on as if unsure about what to do next.
One of the passengers in the car behind identified by his surname Jiang, got out of his vehicle, picked the child up, and returned him to his grandfather. The grandfather explained that the boot door had been damaged in a previous collision and would occasionally fly open on its own. Child safety seats are not common in China, and according to People's Daily, and child mortality rate from traffic accidents in the country is extremely high because of this.

Angry Elephant Goes on a Rampage
A raging bull elephant's prolonged tantrum has marred a religious event in south-western India, with the beast destroying several vehicles during a devastating rampage that lasted hours.
The elephant, Devidasan, lost his cool during a festival at Bhagavathi Temple, Kerala, unleashing his frustration on a taxi rank.
The mighty creature smashed up a large tuk-tuk and a small truck, both of which he picked up with his trunk and bashed against the ground, and also flattened several scooters parked in the area.
A pair of mahouts sat on his back for the duration of the rampage, but if their efforts to calm him down were effective, they were slow; it reportedly took hours to soothe Devidasan, who was perhaps suffering a case of "musth" – a testosterone-fuelled rage that periodically besets male elephants.

Too Cute to Eat
Some mothers have to worry about gluten or nuts, but the mom in this Video clip is doomed from here on out to keep her growing boy's dinner free of everything that makes it "just too cute."
He isn't falling for the "let me mess it up into a sad face" trick, either — as his tears flow harder, he gets realer. "Mommy, you never make something like this for me," he sighs, then looks hungrily at the (what appear to be) hot dog bites arranged into a smile.
Look, kid, it's a hard world out there, and you're gonna have to get used to eating cute things at some point – otherwise, you're not gonna be able to handle finding out where the hot dogs came from in the first place!

Astronaut Demonstrates Gyroscope Stabilisation In Space
European Space Agency astronaut Tim Peake has demonstrated the microgravitational effect on a toy gyroscope in space.
While under the influence of microgravity, a gyroscope will tumble and roll when tapped around just like anything else in space will, but when under the influence of rotational movement, the gyroscope’s physics change completely.
After rotation has started, you can tap on the gyroscope and rather than tumbling and rolling, the gyroscope will keep the same plane, moving through space.
This is similar to why large impacts on planets hardly affect the planes of planets, but just leave huge craters instead.

Naftali Blumenthal - Source of Strength - Music Video
Naftali Blumenthal is a young man who has been diligently perfecting his craft as both a singer and songwriter. Since a young age, he has been playing several instruments, as well as honing his songwriting skills. Naftali’s style is somewhat unique. It’s not about fast songs or the latest trend. It’s about deep emotion and a more meaningful composition. His original English/Hebrew lyric compositions, with their simplistic musical accompaniment, make one feel it deep in their soul.
Naftali isn’t looking to become the next big thing in Jewish music or a popular wedding singer. What he is looking for is to share his music with the world, hoping that there are enough people who will be affected by it and impact their lives. That doesn’t mean that Naftali isn’t a singer in his own right. While learning in yeshiva in Israel, Naftali held many kumzitzes and had the opportunity to sing at many chuppahs. Those who have had the pleasure of the experience always inquired as to when Naftali’s original music will be shared with the public so they can listen to it any time they want.
Well, the time has come. This debut single/music video ,produced by Shia Fried of Studio 123, is titled S.O.S. (source of strength). Naftali is showing the world just who he is at his deepest core. The song is about making the most of one’s life, in both the good times and the bad. While the video might be beautiful and simplistic, the music is sure to reach deep down inside the viewer/listener and grab them. It reminds them that regardless of class, position, talents and abilities, Hashem is the Ultimate source of strength. Without Him in our lives and minds, we lack the means to go on.
Source of Strength will be available online for digital download on iTunes, Amazon Music, Mostly Music and Spotify.
