What Can King Achashverosh Teach You?
Why does the Megillah describe the extravagance of Achashveirosh’s feast in such great detail, which is irrelevant to the miracles or themes of Purim?
We must learn from Achashveirosh: Someone who spent 180 days partying and drinking, and then feasted for another seven days with decadent indulgence obviously had his priorities wrong, but he used his every resource and all his might. How much more-so must a Jew fulfill his priority – his G-d given mission – to his utmost, drawing on every talent, ability and resource G-d has granted him.
We cannot be satisfied by equaling or even surpassing the achievements of another person; we must achieve our own maximum potential, and even beyond. Only by providing others with a spiritual “banquet” worthy of our own “means” do we fulfill our obligation to G-d, to the Jewish people and to the world.

Members of Montreal’s community attended Yaldei’s ninth annual dinner in a mass wave of support for the hundreds of families that are serviced by the centre for children with developmental needs.
The only one of its kind in Quebec, Yaldei is a private, not-for-profit early intervention center dedicated to helping children with developmental challenges reach their full potential. Yaldei’s integration of advanced clinical, behavioral, educational and family support services provides children with the opportunity to learn how to walk, talk, play, attend school and lead productive lives as part of their community.
The dinner was held at the Crowne Plaza where the crowds were welcomed with an 18-piece orchestra and the Zimra Choir and Famed composer and choirmaster Dudi Kalisch was flown in from Israel special for the event and he dazzled together with the Shearim orchestra, singing popular melodies and performing his own original compositions including a beautiful Yiddish song about Yaldei. He was joined by both the Zimra men’s choir and the Zimra boy’s choir.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu Addresses US Congress
In a major speech that stirred political controversy in two countries, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Congress on Tuesday that negotiations underway between Iran and the United States would "all but guarantee" that Tehran would get nuclear weapons, a step he said the world must avoid at all costs.
"Iran has proven time and again that it cannot be trusted," no matter what it says about permitting verification of the terms of any accord designed to prevent it from getting such weapons, he said.
"The greatest danger facing our world is the marriage of militant Islam with nuclear weapons," he said in remarks before a packed House chamber.
Netanyahu spoke shortly after Secretary of State John Kerry met for more than two hours in Switzerland with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in hopes of completing an international framework agreement later this month to curb Tehran's nuclear ambitions.
The Israeli leader's appeal also came two weeks before tight elections in which he is seeking a new term - and after the invitation to address Congress extended by House Speaker John Boehner, a Republican, triggered a political furor in the United States. More than four dozen House and Senate Democrats said in advance they would not attend the event, a highly unusual move given historically close ties between the two allies.
The White House expressed its displeasure with the appearance by word and deed, dispatching Vice President Joe Biden on an overseas trip that meant he did not fill his customary seat behind the House rostrum during the speech. Nor did Netanyahu meet at the White House with Obama on his trip to the United States.
The prime minister was greeted with a roaring welcome as he walked down the same center aisle of the House chamber that presidents tread before their annual State of the Union speeches.

Instructor Saves Skydiver Having Seizure While Falling
A 22-year-old Australian man Christopher Jones, suffered a seizure during a skydiving training course in November, and his instructor -- who had to make two attempts to deploy the unconscious Jones' parachute caught the rescue on video.
During the skydive in the video above, the fun jump quickly turned scary when instructor Sheldon McFarlane noticed Jones roll onto his back. The video shows McFarlane trying to approach Jones to grab his ripcord, but he fails, and Jones plummets further toward the earth. On McFarlane's second try, he successfully deploys the chute.

Llamas On The Loose
Two quick-footed llamas dashed in and out of traffic in a Phoenix-area retirement enclave before they were captured by authorities Thursday, causing a stir in the streets and on social media.
A large, white llama and a smaller black llama darted through the streets of Sun City during the lunch hour. Cars and golf carts stopped in their tracks because of the wayward livestock.
The fugitive llamas were part of a trio that was making a therapy visit to residents at an assisted living facility.
"So many times we thought we were going to get them there, and they would dart in another direction," Parsons said.
The animals galloped along the sidewalk, through manicured yards and along street medians. They thwarted numerous attempts by sheriff's deputies and bystanders to round them up before they finally were roped into custody.
The black llama was captured first. The white one was nabbed after two men in the back of a moving pickup repeatedly threw out a lasso. It took three men to secure the rope.
The entire ordeal lasted about an hour. Sheriff's spokesman Brandon Jones said nobody was hurt and the llamas were returned to their owners. No criminal charges will be filed.
