The Lubavitcher Rebbe with Governor Mario Cuomo
Mario Cuomo, a son of Italian immigrants who became an eloquent spokesman for a generation of liberal Democrats during his three terms as governor of New York but couldn’t quite bring himself to run for president, has died. He was 82.
Cuomo died Thursday of natural causes due to heart failure at his home, the same day his son Andrew started his second term as governor, according to a statement released by the administration. He was surrounded by his family.
Cuomo loomed large in New York politics as governor from 1983 through 1994 and became nationally celebrated for his ability to weave the story of his humble upbringing with ringing calls for social justice. Click Here to read more.

Buffalo Takes on Hungry Lions
Brave buffalos charged three lions after they grabbed a young calf from the herd. The hungry lions crept up on the buffalo and calf in north-west Tanzania, East Africa, causing them to disperse in a terrifying 90-second ordeal. While the majority of the buffalo escaped, one animal turned back and stood firm against the lions in a bid to protect its young.
The big buffalo rallied and stood between her young and the lion's teeth while charging horns-first at the circling predators. Three lions took the opportunity to surround their prey and closed in on the calf. But the outnumbered buffalo could not hold them at bay and a young lion pounced and snapped away the baby between its jaws.
Only the quick-thinking reactions of the the adult buffalo saved young calf from death. The 1,000 pound beast ploughed into all three lions just as they looked set to feast on the calf. And the rest of the herd arrived just in time to mount a dramatic rescue and send the lions retreating with their tales firmly between their legs.
Amateur photographer Andreas Häntzschel, 39 from Aachen, Germany, captured the whole clash on camera while he was on safari.

Bochur Miraculously Walks Away From Crash in CH
CH.Info - A Jewish teenager is lucky to be alive after he was struck by a pickup truck while attempting to cross Empire Boulevard. The force of the collision sent him flying over 10 feet. The entire incident was captured on surveillance video.
The crash occurred at around 4:50pm at the intersection of Empire Boulevard and Albany Avenue.
Witnesses said that they saw two people attempting to cross the street when a pickup truck came over the hill and struck one of them, launching him some 10 feet into the middle of the intersection.
Surveillance video from Stan’s Dry Cleaners revealed just how lucky the victim is. Walking with his brother, the victim attempted to cross Empire against a red light and did not notice the traffic coming from the other side. He successfully crossed half of Empire only to be struck by the pickup truck, his brother was nearly struck as well.
Hatzalah was called and responded within mere moments, treating the victim for an injury he sustained to his leg. He was then transported to Kings County Hospital for further treatment.

Kangaroo Punches Drone Out of the Sky
This low-flying camera drone was spying on a few kangaroos that were hanging out in a field, and they didn't appreciate it. They watched it circle overhead until it got just low enough, then one of the feisty kangaroos leapt up and punched it right out of the sky. Thankfully the video footage was rescued, but the drone was not quite as lucky.

Failed Demolition Leaves Building Tilted To One Side
The disputed city of Sevastopol in the Crimea is now home to its own leaning tower after a controlled explosion went hilariously wrong. Spectators erupted in laughter when the explosion failed to bring down the 16-storey building on Boxing Day. The building wound up tilting to one side after a loud bang rippled through the city in the Russian-controlled territory of Crimea.
A demolition crew was hired to implode the building because it was built illegally, according to local officials. video shows the building’s lower floors collapsing as soon as the explosives were set off. But as the building begins to tilt to one side it suddenly stops and fails to come tumbling down. A cloud of dense smoke and dust fills the air and soon reduces visibility in the neighbourhood as people gather to catch a glimpse of the unusual sight.
