The RIETS Story

Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, or Yeshivat Rabbeinu Yitzchak Elchanan, is the rabbinical seminary of Yeshiva University, now located in Washington Heights, New York. It was originally established in the Lower East Side of Manhattan in 1886 in memory of Rabbi Yitzchak Elchanan Spektor who had passed away during that era.

Delta Shows Off New JFK Terminal in NYC

Delta Airlines prepares to unveil the new Terminal 4 at JFK airport by creating a mock up set in a pop-up shop in Soho on West Broadway and Broome in Manhattan. The new terminal will include a beautiful new sky club which will also feature a 2000 square foot outdoor deck where one can sit in the sun and watch the planes.

Documentary on a Renowned Mohel

A short documentary about Rabbi Mordecai Zimmerman, one of the oldest and most respected mohels in Brooklyn, NY. He passed away in 2005.

Rav Mordechai Zimmerman, renown mohel (1913-2005). Born in New York to Rav Yosef Yehoshua and Shaina Rochel Zimmerman, he attended Torah Vodaas, which his father help found. He and his two brothers were sent to Mir and Grodna in Europe. While in Europe, he met with the Chafetz Chaim. He received his ksav semicha from Rav Shimon Shkop. After his marriage, he settled in Dubuque, Iowa for 5 years, then settled in the Bronx. In the mid-1980s, he moved to Boro Park, where he became a prominent member of the Mirrer minyon. He is survived by two sons, a daughter, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Victim Turns Table Against Robber

On Saturday, 4/27/13 at or about 5:05AM, the victim was walking in the 1900 block of Burgundy when he was approached by an unknown black male. The subject pointed a shotgun at the victim's face and stated give me your money. The victim disarmed the gunman and then chased him. Moments later the victim was approached by two black males in a black four door sedan (possibly a Honda Accord). The driver of the vehicle said to the victim "give me my gun back and I'll give you your phone that you dropped". The victim then used the shotgun to strike the rear windshield of the vehicle causing it to break. The two subjects then fled on Frenchmen to St. Claude and then unknown. The gunman was described as a black male, approximately 16-20 years of age, 6'00" tall with a thin build wearing a black hat and a black t-shirt.

Terror Stabbing Victim Evyatar Borovsky Funeral

Haifa, Israel - Evyatar Borovsky, 31, was laid to rest Tuesday evening. He was murdered by a Palestinian Authority resident terrorist, who stabbed him to death while he waited for a ride at the Tapuach Junction. Several hundred people attended the funeral.

Dramatic Footage Cargo Boeing 747 Crashes

A civilian cargo aircraft crashed at Bagram Air Field near the Afghan capital Kabul on Monday, killing all seven people aboard. The plane came down shortly after take-off and crashed within the boundaries of the US-run airbase, a NATO spokesperson at the base said. The Taliban quickly claimed responsibility for the crash, but the coalition dismissed the claim as "false" in a statement to AP. The cause of the crash is being investigated by emergency crews, but no sign of insurgent activity in the area was spotted at the time, the statement added.

Terrifying moment in which a head-on collision between a passenger train and a freighter was narrowly avoided, has been captured on camera, The spine-tingling incident occurred in Ontario, Canada where a full speed VIA train carrying commuters between Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto, met a stationary freight train in its path. Footage captured by a nearby spectator, shows the engineer of the passenger train jumping out of the locomotive cab in a bid to save his own life before the inevitable crash.

Palestinian Kills Israeli Settler

A Palestinian man stabbed and shot dead an Israeli settler in the West Bank on Tuesday April 30 2013, It was the first time an Israeli has been killed by a Palestinian in the West Bank since 2011. Israeli media said the attacker was standing at a bus stop used by settlers, Israeli soldiers and Palestinians at a junction near the Palestinian city of Nablus. He then stabbed the settler, before seizing the man’s gun and shooting him. The Palestinian then began shooting at security services who arrived on the scene, Israeli police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld said. He added that the man was in custody.
