Previous Lubavitcher Rebbe Comes to USA 1929
The Freidiger Lubavitcher Rebbe was arrested by the KGB, sat in a Russian prison and eventually sentenced to death R"L for the crime of supporting and running many underground yeshivas, opening Mikvahs etc in Russia where learning Torah was illegal.
On the 3rd of Tammuz 5687/1927 the death sentence was miraculously dropped and 9 days later he was yet again miraculously set free to leave Russia.
On the 12th of Elul 5689/1929 the Rebbe made his 1st visit to America after which he moved to Poland. When the war broke out the Rebbe escaped and arrived in America permanently on the 9th of Adar Aleph, 5700/1940 and announced that "America is Nisht Andresh" "America is no different". Over the next 10 years until his passing, the Rebbe practiced those words and turned over America into a Torah rich country.

Funeral Held For Brooklyn Boy Hit By School Bus
An four-year-old Brooklyn boy is being laid to rest this afternoon, hours after he was fatally struck by his school bus.
Police say Amron Altman was waiting for his school bus on 13th
Avenue at 49th Street in Borough Park just after 8 a.m. when he was hit by the bus. The bus driver was unaware he hit anyone and continued driving.
The bus driver, who worked for a private company, was alerted of what happened and then returned to the scene.
Police believe Altman, who was standing with his older brother, may have slipped on some ice and slid under the bus getting hit by the rear tire.
"The child was waiting for the bus and then slipped, you know when you slip on ice you can slip four or five feet," said local resident Gill Hoffman. "And this is what happened."
"To have a young child, who I believe was going to be five-years-old in a couple of days, to have this happen when the child was on the way to school, what is there to say?" Assemblyman Dov Hikind said with a sigh.
The 32-year-old bus driver did pass an alcohol test. No criminality is suspected and he is not expected to be charged.

The hit team which killed Mahmud al-Mabhuh last month was made up of six British passport holders, three with Irish passports, including the woman, and the holders of a German and a French passport, Dhafi Khalfan said. "We have no doubts that it was 11 people holding these passports, and we regret that they used the travel documents of friendly countries," he told a press conference, describing a rapid and professional hit.
While not ruling out "the involvement of (Israel's spy agency) Mossad or other parties in the assassination," Khalfan said the names on the passports had been passed on to Interpol to request arrest warrants.

Two Lubavticher Bochurem entertained Thousands of Satmarer chaseidim in Williamsburg Tuesday night, at the Sheva Brochos of the grandchild of the Satmar Rebbe, Rav Ahron Teitelbaum From Kiryas Joel.
The Bochurem are a pair of highly talented identical twins from France who currently learn in 770 i.e.the Lubavitcher world headquarters and Yeshiva on Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, NY. The two young men stood on the table and performed for over fifteen minutes while the Rebbe and Thousands of Chaseidim looked on with enjoyment.

Rabbi Eliyahu has been hospitalized since suffering a stroke and having open heart surgery 20 months ago. He served as the countrys chief Sephardic Rabbi from 1983 to 1993.

And the Top 3 Finalists Are...
After keeping the Jewish music industry and thousands of others in suspense, judges of A Jewish Star singing competition Avraham Fried, Michael Sojcher and Mendy Pellin met at the offices of COLlive in Brooklyn, NY. Their goal was to winnow down the contestants ahead of the March 7 Soul II Soul concert.
During the audition period, some 50 contestants from around the world were put to the test sending in a video of their solo performances, with or without background music. 26 auditions made it through and were previewed on AJewishStar.com. Until January 24, 2010, it was up to you to decide who would garner a spot in the Top 10 semifinalists.
61,893 votes were cast and here are the Top 10 (according to rank):
1: Choni Grunblatt
2: Avraham Ohayon
3: Shuki Sadon
4: Choni Teitelbaum
5: Binyamin Moshe
6: Boruch Sholom Blesofsky
7: Nissen Brenenson
8: Gershon Shapiro
9: Shmuli Stiefel
10: Moshe Lehr
These names were revealed to the judges at the Jan. 25th meeting by Yehuda Ceitlin, Editor-in-Chief of COLlive.com, without specifying in what order they were voted in.
In good spirits, the judges watched the auditions and were asked to rate each of the semifinalists with a score from 1 to 5. They also asked to give their take on these auditions. Each drew on their expertise and experience; Fried, as a music superstar, Sojcher, as the leader of the renowned Neshoma Orchestra and Pellin (joining via video conference from Los Angeles), as an entertainer and comedian - to make the decision.
The judges' Top 3 will take the stage on Sunday, March 7, to perform live for the judges and for the audience at Brooklyn School for Music & Theatre.
