Modziter Kumzitz Chol Hamoed Pesach 2021

The bi-annual Modzitzer Chol Hamoed Kumzitz took place this Tuesday evening, the 18th of Nissan, at the home of R' Aron Orlander, where lovers of Modzitzer negunim in the Chasidic Boro Park community were invited to come and join in the singing of the many lively niggunim, articulated in the classic Modzitz style and spirit

The Kumzitz is well-known for its featuring of the many Modzitz classiscs, as well as some treats from the lesser known vast selection of Modzitzer negina.

The kumzitz leaders, R' Aron Orlander and R' Dovid Bick, two close friends and students of R' Ben Zion Shenker zt"l, demonstrated the breadth of the Modzitz repertoire, as they sang niggunim of pure joy and spirituality.

Those in attendance also had the pleasure of hearing the skillful musical accompaniment of pianist, Dov Lenchevsky, as well as the heartwarming clarinet of R' Shmuel Helfand. Another highlight of the evening was the soulful singing of R' Yitzchok Tovia Kurtz, who was asked to share some musical gems composed by his grandfater, Chazzan R' Yossele Mandelbaum Z"l.

The kumzitz gave life to melodies from generations past, enabling the feelings of joy sparked by these niggunim to re-enter the present day. It was an opportunity for participants to re-ignite their passion for singing and music, and left all present feeling inspired and uplifted.

ThankYouHashem & Lipa - I’m Thankful I Can Thank

Pesach is one of many times throughout the year that we say Hallel and thank Hashem for all the good he bestows upon us.

It’s been a difficult year for all of us. Nonetheless, now more than ever, we should sing and thank Hashem with all our hearts, “Thank You for everything, the good, the bad and the in between. And most of all, I’m thankful that I can thank You!”

Composed and sung by Lipa Schmeltzer for the ThankYouHashem movement, this song will make you jump to your feet and dance while thanking Hashem, על שאנו מודים לך, ברוך קל ההודאות.

From Skin and Wool to Tzitzis and Tefillin: The Process

We all know that tzitzis and tefillin comes somehow from an animal. But how? Stop scratching your head and wondering how the goat at the petting zoo somehow turns into black tefillin or white tzitzis. Come along the fascinating trip painstakingly planned by Mefoar Judaica to actually see it!

Follow Rabbi Leibish Lish, the middos rebbe, as he uses expertise, humor and a dose of yiras Shamayim to explain the process in coordination with the amazing volunteers of Achim B'Yachad, a division of Chai Lifeline.

In the half-hour video, Rabbi Lish details the months of work that go into manufacturing tefillin and tzitzis, from when the wool is first cut and the hide skinned, down to the magical moment when the bar mitzvah bochur finally gets the ready made product, packaged in a beautiful velvet bag.

Mefoar, a Boro Park icon, has spent hundreds of hours and tens of thousands of dollars to set up a state of the art exhibit, with spinning looms, jars of processing material and equipment. Watch and tell us how you enjoyed it!

Leil Shimurim - Benzion and Luzy Klatzko

Performed by Benzion Klatzko and Luzy Klatzko
Composed by Benzion Klatzko
Arranged by Yisroel Ament
A Shabbat.com Production

It's 3:30 AM. The Seder is over.

Years ago, Rabbi Klatzko composed a song to be sung at the very end of the seder (when most of the family and guests are sleeping already)!

It was called "Leil Shimurim" - The Night of Watching.

It goes through some of the key verses in the Torah that describe a magnificent 24 hour period, beginning with the Korban Pesach and ending with the Jewish people leaving Egypt.

Every year the Klatzko family sings this tune, with each of the children singing a different part. It has four parts, with two parts slow and majestic and two parts uplifting and optimistic. May this be the last year we sing this in Galus!
