Torah Treasure Presents: Parsha Time - Vayerah
A fun sing along DVD that makes learning the Parsha a joy for kids and parents alike! When deciding what content to create next, Producer Chaim Hershkowitz knew that it would have to be about the Parshios. “I knew it was time to create something that was new, fresh and upbeat.” With that goal, Chaim’s first choice was Chanaleh Fellig-Harrel; who has written songs for him in the past. He asked her to come up with new songs for each Parsha.
“What she did, was bring every Parsha to life, with 12 original and amazing songs” Each scene brings a colorful array of props, backgrounds and the realistic costumes to give the kids a feeling of what went on in that time. With the vivid images and amazing lyrics in the songs, the children will literally sing their way through each Parsha, essentially covering thousands of years of History- in minutes! “We also got very lucky, with the very talented YBC soloist Nati Broyde singing and starring in this Parsha Time DVD.”
For the first time ever, Parsha Time includes a separate Karaoke Version so that the kids will be able to sing along with their favorite songs! Although it was released a week ago, the feedback has been tremendously positive. One parent commented “Every Friday since it came out, when I ask my children which video they want to watch, they say Parsha Time because they love the songs and video so much.”
Parsha Time can be ordered on Amazon Nigun music or at your local Judaica store.
And of course at torahtreasure.com

Measles Outbreak in Williamsburg, Rockland County
Six children below the age of 5 were diagnosed with measles in Brooklyn, health officials said Wednesday.
The initial case started after a child traveled to Brooklyn from Israel, where a large outbreak is occurring.
Five of the children were not vaccinated.
“Although measles is preventable, too many families are choosing to not vaccinate or delay vaccination, putting their children and other children at risk” said Acting Health Commissioner Dr. Oxiris Barbot. “It is also important to make sure the entire family is protected before traveling internationally, because outbreaks of measles are occurring in Israel and throughout Europe. If your child develops a fever and rash, contact their health care provider and keep your children home from school or daycare.”
There are also 11 confirmed measles cases in Rockland County.
Anyone who suspects an exposure is urged to call a health care provider before going to a medical office or emergency department.
Measles symptoms include rash, high fever, cough, runny nose and red, watery eyes. It can cause serious complications such as pneumonia and encephalitis (swelling of the brain). Measles infection in a pregnant woman can lead to miscarriage, premature birth or a low-birth-weight baby. Measles is easily spread through the air when someone coughs or sneezes. People can also get sick when they come in contact with mucus or saliva from an infected person.

Mosdos Kever Rachel Imeinu
To Donate Click Here
For thousands of years, Jews have unburdened their hearts to Rachel Imeinu - and had their prayers answerd.
The Barren were blessed with children,
The sick were cured,
The single found shiduchim
And the broken-hearted found solace and peace.
In late 2000 and often during 2001 and early 2002, there were shooting incidents near the tomb that closed the site for much of that time, once again bringing Jewish visitation to a trickle.
The tomb was reopened in about 2003, and a security wall was constructed around its periphery, but few at first made the journey.
Then a Jewish Israeli couple, Rabbi Moshe M. and Mrs. Bluma Kluger, personally intervened. They founded Rachel's Tomb Institute (Mosdos Kever Rachel), a group consisting of the Klugers, and a few volunteers, that has facilitated tens of thousands of visits to the tomb.
Rabbi Kluger engaged in a fund-raising campaign and also took out personal loans to fund five private, bullet-proof buses per weekday that make stops throughout Jerusalem for those wanting to pray at the tomb.
The buses have been running since!, and bring in approximately 100,000 visitors each year. The Israeli public-transportation system restarted service to the area, but many feel more comfortable in bullet-proof busing. (NOTE: Because of today's security improvement, bullet proof buses are no longer needed)
Mosdos Kever Rachel also renewed learning at Rachel's Tomb by helping to establish a Yeshiva, which offers daily classes and leads prayer services in the afternoons and evenings.

Cafe Owner Scares off Burglar While Away
A cafe owner scared off a burglar while on holiday 4,000 miles away - by screaming through a CCTV device on his phone.
Jamie Foster, 34, was on a coach on his way to the airport in the Dominican Republic when he terrified the raider by screaming at his mobile screen. The businessman watched aghast from another continent as the cameras were activated in his cafe and he saw the intruder rifling through the till. But his cries startled the criminal, causing him to flee the Lillies Cafe in Wickford, Essex, with £50 in his hand.

Peretz Chein - Debut Single - Baruch Hashem - Lyric Video
In 2017 Peretz suffered a sudden spinal cord injury.
After an emergency surgery he remained partially paralyzed. The Doctors’ prognosis was “Go home and pray”. While undergoing rigorous rehabilitation, Peretz was moved to release this song.
Under the circumstance a ballad may have made more sense. Yet Peretz felt drawn to more upbeat notes and chose "Boruch Hashem", a song of praise and gratitude.
Today, while still in the process of healing, Peretz is happy to be performing again. A rising star in the world of Jewish music, he can be seen performing at weddings and events. So enjoy "Boruch Hashem"! And, whether you begin listening to the song while sitting or standing... be prepared to end up dancing!

Yahrzeit Of Rav Meir Shapiro - Founder of Daf Yomi
Rav Yehuda Meir Shapiro, Rav of Lublin, revolutionized Klal Yisroel’s limud haTorah.
For the budding talmid chacham, he created the Chachmei Lublin Yeshiva, the first yeshiva in Poland to provide bachurim with physical as well as spiritual nourishment, forming Am Yisroel’s next generation of gedolei haTorah.
But for Klal Yisroel as a whole, he also developed a revolutionary program that has turned thousands of simple Jews into talmidei chachamim knowledgeable in all of Shas: the Daf Hayomi.
Rav Yehuda Meir Shapiro was born on March 3, 1887, in the city of Shatz, Romania. Reb Meir’s father, Reb Yaakov Shimshon, was a prominent talmid chacham who once served as the Rav and Av Beis Din of Shatz.
Reb Meir was descended from a long line of renowned Rebbes. Reb Yaakov Shimon was a great-grandson of the well-known chassidic rebbe Reb Pinchas of Koretz. Reb Meir’s mother, Rebbetzin Margulya, was a daughter of the Manestritcher Rebbe, Reb Shmuel Shorr, who himself was a direct descendant of two famous halachic commentators, the Bach and the Taz.

Oh Beer!
A truck driver has been caught on camera spilling an entire truckload of beer crates onto the road while trying to make a three-point-turn during a delivery in Cape Town, South Africa.
Video footage shows the trucker attempting to reverse a lorry marked with a banner reading 'REGRET NOTHING' down the side.
As he maneuvers the lorry across the road, the load starts to shift, and soon the tarmac is covered in crates, bottles and beer.
The video shows the driver continuing to move his vehicle, despite beer crates spilling out onto the road. Withing seconds, the entire trailer is seen tilting sharply and half his load crashes into the road.
Many of the beer bottles from South African Breweries smashes into a frothy foaming sea of ale blocking the road and leaving the driver suffering a very unhappy hour.
It is believed that between 150 and 200 crates of beer fell out of the beer lorry.

Students Give Very Enthusiastic Good Morning
Adorable moment a class of very enthusiastic young pupils give their teacher a good morning welcome. The six and seven years old Filipino students greet 'Miss Judy' every morning with the bright and bubbly chant, which they need to repeat in local dialects and in English.
Video footage taken on a Monday morning last months shows the children telling the teacher that it is a ''jolly day'' and that they are ''glad to see her again.'' Primary school teacher Judelene Ibacitas said: ''I have been teaching my students this routine for four years now since I started teaching. ''I want them to understand that school is not boring and any activity, even the ones as simple as these can still be fun. They must put their energy and heart into it and value their time in the classroom.''

Teen Attacks Jew with Stick Minutes After being Released
A Jewish man was violently assaulted in an unprovoked attack while crossing a street in Crown Heights on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred at around 3:50pm at the intersection of Empire Boulevard and Albany Avenue. The victim was accosted as he was crossing the street by a black teenager carrying a wooden stick. When the victim realized he was about to be assaulted he attempted to flee.
The victim ran into the cleaners owned by R’ Shloime Junik, whose son tried opening the door to provide shelter to the victim, though not fast enough. The attacker managed to swing and strike the victim over his back and shoulder causing the stick to break in half. The perpetrator then threw the second piece into the store and striking both the victim and another bystander and causing further injuries.
Attempting the flee, the suspect ran down Albany Avenue into Lefferts park with multiple witnesses chasing after him. Both Shomrim and police were called and the suspect was apprehended, police arrived a short while later and arrested the suspect.
Officers at the NYPD 71st Precinct said the attacker was arrested earlier for a petit larceny for stealing orange juice from a deli shop at 592 Albany Avenue.
The man was given a Desk Appearance Ticket (DAT), an order issued by the police to appear in Criminal Court to respond to an accusation of committing an offense. He was then released from custody.
On the way home, the man was in possession of a tree branch and used it to assault a Lubavitcher chossid causing a cut and bruise to the victim's shoulder, police confirmed.
Police and Hatzalah were called to the scene. The perpetrator was found a few blocks away and arrested again - this time for felony assault. The NYPD's hate crimes unit was notified about the attack.
"We will be investigating the crime as a possible hate crime," an NYPD official told COLlive.com.

Man Charged with Hate Crime in Brutal Assault in BP
A suspect has been arrested on multiple charges after he allegedly viciously beat a man in Brooklyn on Sunday morning. October 14 2018 Authorities said the attack took place at around 7:30 a.m. in Borough Park near 46th Street and 13th Avenue.
Farrukh Afzal, 37, of Staten Island was charged with assault, hate crime, criminal mischief and harassment.
Leopold Schwartz, 62, told CBS2’s Hazel Sanchez on Sunday evening he thought his life was over when a stranger, seemingly came out of nowhere and assaulted him. “I was like this. And all of a sudden… boof, boof, boof, boof!” Schwartz said, referring to the barrage of punches that came his way. “So I start to fight back because it’s either death or life.”
Surveillance video shows Schwartz walking alone when a black livery car screeches to a halt at the curb behind him and the driver, allegedly Afzal, goes right after Schwartz.
Police told CBS2’s Sanchez that Afzal had mistaken Schwartz for another Hasidic man who had hit his car for no apparent reason while the Taxi and Limousine Commission driver was stopped at a red light. “He came out from the car. I couldn’t explain to you how angry he was. He was screaming the whole time,” Schwartz said.
A father of nine, Schwartz said he managed to break free and run into the intersection, but he tripped. “I fell down on the street. All of a sudden he’s on my head again, start to punch me. I screamed, ‘What you want from me?!? Help me please,'” Schwartz said.
A passerby approached to stop the attack, and Afzal went after him, police said. It was distraction that likely saved Schwartz. Witnesses kept the driver at the scene until cops arrived and arrested him. “I’m telling you if he had a knife he would stab me right on the place. No doubt,” Schwartz said.

Over-sized Truck Tumbles Down Embankment
A video went viral of an over-sized semi-truck sliding down an embankment in California, and miraculously, the driver was not injured.
It happened on Thursday in Mendocino County, just north of San Francisco.
A California Highway Patrol said they cited the driver, Christopher Cortez, for ignoring the many warning signs on the restricted roadway. "He stated that he saw a few of them," according to patrol officer Robert Powers. "He said he would try to work his luck and see what he could do with it."
The truck laid 100 feet down the ravine and will force a future closure of at least one day to retrieve it. The construction crew that recorded the video said they warned the driver, but he continued. "The tractors take a different line than the trailers," said Jim Shupe with California's Department of Transportation. "His trailer got in the berm and the trailer pulled him over."
Locals have seen similar incidents happen several times. "I saw it yesterday. There goes another one,'" said one woman her car. There was a similar, less severe incident last January where a wine truck carrying hundreds of bottles failed to make the turn. It resulted in closing the same state highway for two days.
Despite road construction that has narrowed the two-lane road to one at the difficult turn, officials said it would still be restricted.
Powers was asked if a similar incident would happen again. He answered, "100 percent. We could put a sign and a video of the truck on the loop, and it would happen again."

Orthodox Jewish Chasidic Man Attacked in Boro Park
A Orthodox Jewish Hasidic man walking to synagogue was attacked and beaten by a man on Sunday morning. October 13 2018
At approximately 7:30 AM a 62-year-old Jewish man was walking to Shul on 13th Avenue near 46 Street, carrying his Tallis and Tefillin. Suddenly, a vehicle screeched to a halt, the driver got out, and ran towards the victim. He began punching him in his face and screaming at him – all in a totally unprovoked attack. The man broke free and began running, but the suspect once again assaulted him in front of TD Bank.
The NYPD responded to reports of the assault and took the suspect into custody. The vehicle he was driving said “Church Ave Car Service” on it. Boro Park Shomrim were on the scene as well assisting police.
Boro Park Hatzolah transported the victim to Maimonides Hospital with facial trauma.
