Bear Taken For a Motorcycle Ride

An astonished driver in a Russian city pulled out his cellphone to take video of a bizarre sight: a massive brown bear riding in a motorcycle sidecar.

Nicholas Pasynkov said he was driving Saturday in Syktyvkar when he spotted the large bruin calmly riding in a motorcycle sidecar that had been designed to resemble the face of a wolf.

Pasynkov, who pulled out his cellphone and filmed a short video, said it was an unusual sight on the streets of his town.

The bear was later found to be a trained animal performing in a traveling circus organized by the Polar Wolves bike club.

A second video later emerged online, showing the bear getting into the sidecar while a trainer sits behind the motorcycle's driver.

Israeli Police Officers Shot Dead in Temple Mount Attack

Two Israeli police officers were killed in a shooting Friday in Jerusalem's Old City, just outside one of the world's most important religious sites.

Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said three armed assailants, whom he identified as terrorists, targeted police units in the area. One tried to stab a police officer, he said.

All three attackers were shot and killed and the area has been closed off, according to Rosenfeld. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals.

"I can confirm that the two police officers who were previously in critical condition have died of their wounds in hospital," Rosenfeld said.

Rosenfeld said the attackers were "Israeli Arabs from Umm al-Fahm in northern Israel."

The incident took place a little after 7 a.m. local time by the Lions' Gate in the Old City walls, next to what Muslims call the Noble Sanctuary and Jews call the Temple Mount. The area is home to the Western Wall -- which was part of the walls around the Second Jewish Temple and is one of the holiest place for Jews to pray

Instant Justice for London Thief

A brazen thief was knocked off his Boris bike by a policeman's van door after CCTV footage caught him stealing from a Range Rover.

Jake Nedd, 31, was filmed raiding a black Range Rover parked outside a row of terraced houses in Dawes Road, Fulham, west London, where houses sell for upwards of £1.2 million, last Sunday.

Footage shows the criminal, who broke into the car after noticing the window was open, taking several items from the car before fleeing the scene laden with bags from the boot and front of the vehicle.

But shortly after he starts to cycle away, police are seen tearing down the street with their lights flashing. Nedd begins retreating down the street but officers give chase and swing open their door, sending the thief flying over the handlebars.

Jewish Mother of 6 Thrown in Jail for Raising Her Kids in Religious Home

An Orthodox Jewish mother of six who was barred from speaking with her own children because she insisted on  raising them in a religious home has been thrown in jail because she lacked the financial means to reimburse her wealthy ex-husband $10,000 in court costs as order by an Ohio judge.

Julie Goffstein and her husband Peter had been raising their boys as members of the Chabad community in Cincinnati when Peter Goffstein decided that he no longer wanted to live a religious lifestyle.  Given an ultimatum of choosing between her religion and her marriage, Julie chose to continue living her life as a Jew and the Goffstein’s bitter divorce began to unfold in 2010.  After hearing the testimony of 11 character witnesses and two court ordered evaluations, Judge Jon Sieve of the Hamilton County, Ohio Court of Common Pleas awarded full custody of all of the Goffstein children to their mother, specifically noting the importance of continuity for the boys who had been raised in an Orthodox home.

Nine months later, Peter filed for a reallocation of custody and within weeks Judge Sieve had reversed his decision, awarding Peter full custody of the four younger children, observing that Julie’s insistence on sending the children to yeshiva was not in their best interest.  While Judge Sieve’s ruling allowed the children to remain in yeshiva, Julie was held responsible for paying their tuition, with Peter given the authority to make all of the children’s educational decisions.  Over time, the situation continued to deteriorate, with Peter filing multiple lawsuits against his former wife and Julie moved with the two older boys to Crown Heights where they continued in yeshiva, while the four younger boys were sent to public school against their will by their father.

As the court battles continued, Peter Goffstein continued to keep the younger children shielded from both their mother and their Jewish heritage, allegedly chopping off one child’s payos, removing the boys’ yarmulkas and making them eat pork.  Friends of Julie’s also reported that he smeared urine on one child’s face as a punishment for  a religious observance and that Peter repeatedly bullied anyone who supported Julie’s mission of raising her sons in an observant home.    Eventually the court forbade Julie from discussing any religious matters with her sons, and she was found in contempt of court for telling one son of her efforts to get him back into yeshiva.

While Peter is extremely wealthy, Julie’s financial situation is very bleak, having been stripped of all marital assets by Judge Sieve. His latest decision, holding Julie in contempt of court for being unable to reimburse her ex-husbands court costs and sending her to jail, seems to be the latest obstacle thrown at Julie simply because she has chosen to raise her sons as practicing members of the Jewish faith.  Julie’s sons, ranging in age from nine to eighteen are living a life of turmoil, with the younger boys facing their father’s reported harassment and the two older boys now living alone in Crown Heights because of Julie’s imprisonment.

Safe Falls On Man, Extricated Unscratched

DNAinfo - A worker was beaming when he wriggled free from a massive safe he'd been trapped in for about 30 minutes after it fell on him in a Brooklyn yeshiva Monday morning, video shows.

Staff at Yeshiva of Machzikai Hadas at 1350 39th St., near 14th Avenue, had removed the base of a large safe and the Torahs contained inside so they could move it Monday, witnesses said.

A worker, whose name wasn't immediately released, opened a door to the safe which then started to tip about 10:30 a.m., according to witnesses and an FDNY spokesman.

"He saw he doesn't have time to run," said David Friedman, 20, who works at the yeshiva.

"He went inside like a turtle," Friedman added.

FDNY crews with Engine 282 and Ladder 148 came and surrounded the safe, talking to the man inside the entire time, video shows.

"He was communicating with the members [of the FDNY]. He was a little scared, but in good spirits. He knew we were there to get him out. We reassured him," said Lieutenant Richard Cannon of Engine 282.

The crews wedged pieces of wood to "secure the safe so it didn't move any further," Cannon said.

They then pulled the metal door that'd been trapped under the safe to make room for the man underneath, Cannon said. "After the members stabilized the safe, we proceeded to try to get the victim out, said Cannon, a 16-year member of the FDNY.

"We were able to reach in and pull the victim out," he added.

In dramatic video shot by witnesses, the man can be seen clearly beaming with a wide grin as he stands up safely. "He did jump up fairly quickly. He was a little shaken up. He did have a couple bumps and bruises on him, Cannon said.

Apart from being jostled, the man seemed otherwise OK, witnesses said.

"He was smiling, but his hand was shaking," Friedman said.

He went to the hospital by Hatzolah, a private ambulance service, FDNY officials said.

5-Story Building, Truck, Washed into River

A torrential downpour triggered the collapse of a five-story building into a riverbank in Tibet.

The building’s destruction on Saturday came after days of heavy rain which raised Qambo Prefecture river levels to dangerous heights and eroded the surrounding bank,

Bystanders filmed the residential building as it toppled backwards right into the Ziqu river in an almighty crash.

The building had been evacuated just prior to the collapse, and no injuries were reported, according to NDTTV.

Locals also captured the moment the violent waterflow caused the riverbank to further collapse, pulling a parked truck along with it.

Trump Chases Down Marine's Hat

President Trump on Saturday retrieved a Marine's hat and placed it on the Marine's head after it blew off amid turbulence from the president's helicopter.

As Trump approached Marine One, he bent to pick up a white hat from the ground before turning to the Marine. After placing it on the Marine's head, Trump patted him on the arm.

But the hat immediately flew off the Marine's head, forcing the president to chase it down as the Marine stood at his post, where he remained until the president boarded.

Evolution Of Jewish Music

Presenting a brand new video, paying tribute to the history of Jewish Music. Some we grew up with, some our parents told us about, and some that we get our children into. A generational link between eras! As Jewish music continues to evolve, this video is meant to take observation of those changes, with a little humor and respect, and a lot of love.

The project came together in the days following the Ivri Anochi music video, by Benny Friedman, Meir Kay and Sruly Meyer.
