Yaakov Shwekey - Maran Sheli - Music Video

There's no better time then on the eve of Chag Shavuot, to put out a clip on a man who lived and breathed the Torah, a giant in our generation i will always cherish the moments i had with him
The blessings he gave

He is truly missed...

The emotions were too fresh, the wounds too raw to have set my feelings to music immediately after Maran's passing. Even now, over two years later, the feeling that a sense of protection has been taken when we lost Rav Ovadiah Yosef zt”l is frighteningly palpable.

A Blessing from this great Tzadik lifted up every type of Jew. His words of encouragement and acceptance inspired Yidden from all walks of life, His home was open for any Jew who wished to enter.

As music is my own personal mode of expression, I hope that this song is inspirational not only as a tribute to a great man but an affirmation of his ongoing influence, and my overwhelming feelings of loss after hearing about his passing.

May we merit to join him again soon
in the times of…. Mashiach

“Minayin” – Hashem is a Yedid to All Cholei Yisroel

While visiting an unwell child at the hospital alongside Yedidim volunteers, legendary composer Yossi Green was taken by surprise: the child requested that Yossi compose a new song just for him—right then and there.

Yossi sat down at the piano, his fingers trembling. The kid was waiting, and Yossi was unsure where to start. What words would he use? Would he attempt to write new lyrics? Could he possibly compose something sincere in a matter of seconds?

And then inspiration struck. Yossi recalled the words of the Gemara in Maseches Shabbos, “Minayin shehashchina shorah l’maaloh merashosov shel choleh?” Like the many Yedidim volunteers—like Yossi himself—the shechina is a friend to every single choleh yisroel. Those were all the lyrics Yossi needed.

He started playing, and something beautiful happened. Magically, the words formed a tune. The tune begot a tempo, and soon the tempo turned to tears in the eyes of everyone in the room.

Yossi has visited the child again multiple times since, and his beautiful composition has been adopted as the official Yedidim song, sung by Yedidim volunteers at every patient’s bed.

“Minayin” is now being presented to the public for the first time, with vocals by Meshorerim Choir, music by Shlome Vechter, and the Shevach Boys Choir by Yossi glick of New Square.

Tourists and Predators Switch Places at Zoo

Tourists and predators have switched places at a zoo in China, where visitors are paying to be locked in a cage and stalked by big cats and bears.

Lehe Ledu Wildlife Zoo in Chongqing city is giving people the chance to get up close with some of the world's most ferocious animals - who they can even feed by hand.

Chunks of fresh meat are tied to the outside of a vehicle, which drives through the enclosure, in a bid to attract the predators and give tourists the closest possible dining experience with them - without becoming dinner themselves.

Camp Agudah Through the Decades - 75 Years

Historical Documentary Film Shown at 94th Agudath Israel Dinner

Back in 1942, while the guns of Europe were still blazing, Reb Elimelech Gavriel (Mike) Tress z”l, together with several other young Agudah activists, saw the need for Jewish children to spend their summers in a healthy, Orthodox Jewish environment, as opposed to “hanging out” on the city streets. Thus, Camp Agudah was born.

In the early years, the camp attracted, predominately, campers from non-religious homes, as well as young refugees from the ravages of Churban Europe. The “ruach” of Camp Agudah proved to be a spiritual, as well as physical, lifeline for thousands of Jewish children, in those early years.

Today, as we approach this summer’s 75th year of Agudah camping, many of those responsible for the founding, and subsequent success, of Camp Agudah throughout the years will be feted at the 94th Anniversary Dinner of Agudath Israel of America at the Hilton NY on Sunday, June 5, 2016. This is not just a historical milestone, it is a testament to the heroes in our history who rose to face the challenges of a fledgling religious Jewish community in the United States – and created a response that sparked a revolution – the impact of which is felt, even today, by every frum child who attends camp, anywhere. And it is an event which we hope you will join.

Highlighting the evening will be a documentary film, produced by Aryeh Gelbard, with footage dating back to the 40s and early 50s, shot in Highmount, and then in Ferndale, NY. Some of the ‘stars’ featured in the video include: Mike Tress, Rabbi Boruch Borchardt, Rabbi Yaakov Teitelbaum, Rabbi Syshe Heschel, and Rabbi Chaim Yisroel Belsky zichronom l’vrocho. Also featured prominently is Meir Frischman, whose extraordinary devotion as director of the camp for the past 40 years will be marked at the dinner.

Appearing in the video include such notables as: Rabbis Nosson Scherman, Paysach Krohn, Mordechai Finkelman, Michoel Levi, Naftuli Hertz Basch, Yisroel Gelbwachs, Yehuda Frankel and Yehuda Oelbaum, as well as a slew of camp veterans who have made their marks in Klal Yisroel, in part, as a result of their positive experiences at Camp Agudah.

Lion Charges at Boy at Zoo Slams Into Glass Enclosure

A heart-stopping video from Chiba, Japan shows a little boy turning his back on a lion enclosure only for the cat to charge forward and pounce - only stopped by the glass wall.

The video shows the two-year-old boy staring at a male lion during a visit to the Chiba Zoological Park with his family.

When the toddler turns his back, the big cat springs up and rushes at him, only to slam into the glass wall of the enclosure. The startled boy stumbles back when the massive animal rams into the glass.

Zookeepers said the lion, which weighs 400 pounds, gets excited around small children and just wanted to play.

Riding the World's Most Dangerous Road

Located in the valley of Pangi in India lies the world’s most dangerous road.

This group of men wouldn't hesitate after they filmed themselves in a vertigo-inducing video braving one of the world's most dangerous roads in India on motorbikes.

Charanpreet Singh uploaded their breathtaking journey from Killar in Pangi Valley, Himachal Pradesh to Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir to YouTube where it has quickly gone viral.

He wrote: 'This stretch from Killar to Kishtwar between two villages Ishtyari and Tyari is also known as cliffhanger and is one of the most dangerous, scary, and exciting road patches of India.' Singh rides behind two companions - no doubt giving them the scarier ordeal as they are first to face obstacles.

They drive carefully along a narrow path at the top of a high cliff, rock jutting out above them and a spectacular view to their right of the mountains - it's probably best not to look down too much on this trip.

While they appear relatively confident for much of their journey, when they tackle corners they take care to hug the cliff face and use their feet to push themselves along in order to have more control.
Another impressive view is of a waterfall pouring off the high cliff above them, Singh refers to them as 'mystical' as he stares up in wonder. Navigating some of the water tumbling onto their path proves tricky and the bikes slow considerably as they bump along through the enormous puddles.

There are several hair-raising moment when their bike drives perilously close to the edge and quite fast given the circumstances - but it seems they are in control throughout.

Birds Epic Tug-Of-War Battle, Failed Breakup Attempt
