Challah Certified By Guinness As World’s Longest
VIN News - Brooklyn, NY - A 20 foot long challah prepared for the upcoming Shabbos Project event has been certified as the world’s longest braided bread by the Guinness Book of World Records.
The challah was officially measured by Guinness at the Great Big Challah Bake held in the Grand Prospect Hall in Park Slope on Wednesday night. Over 2,000 women and girls joined in the event, with each one preparing their own challah as a prelude to the Shabbos Project, a world wide effort to spread the beauty of Shabbos to Jews of all levels of religiosity, taking place this weekend.
The idea for the challah came about at last year’s Shabbos Project according to Rabbi Yaakov Giniger, director of programming for Project Inspire, which is running the Great Challah Bake for the Shabbos Project. Logistics for creating the record breaking challah kept organizers busy for weeks, with Strauss Bakery preparing the dough, which was then braided by a group of four people in under an hour. Once the six strand challah had risen, it was transferred to a custom made, 20 foot long aluminum sheet with handles, placed atop a wooden board of equal length and taken to a second bakery for baking
The challah was kept covered under a series of white cloths at the Great Challah Bake until it was officially certified by Alex Angert of Guinness. It will ultimately make its way to a special Shabbos table in keeping with Guinness requirements which do not allow food items to discarded once they have been awarded their record breaking status.

Tensions at Pro Israel Demonstration in Times Square
Tensions were high on New York's Times Square on Sunday as pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli protesters squared off against each other. While a few minor incidents were reported, no major clashes or unrest occurred.
On Sunday evening, October 11th, over five hundred Israel supporters gathered in Times Square to show their solidarity with the Jewish State in the wake of the recent wave of terror. The event which began at 7:00 p.m. continued until after 11:00 p.m.
Of course standing alongside the blood thirsty Jew haters were several Neturei Karta Jews desecrating G-d's Name.

Wave of Terror Continues in Israel
An Israeli man was killed in a hit-and-run truck incident near a Palestinian village in the Hebron area, Magen David Adom said on Tuesday.
The man was identified by authorities as Avraham Asher Hasnu, a 54-year-old resident of Kiryat Arba and Hebron.
According to an initial check by security forces, Palestinians hurled rocks at Hasnu's car. He stopped the vehicle, got out, and was struck by the truck.
A Palestinian terrorist lightly wounded an IDF soldier and an Israeli civilian in an attempted vehicular ramming and stabbing attack on Tuesday at the Gush Etzion Junction in the West Bank.
After ramming his car into the pedestrians, the assailant then emerged from his vehicle, brandishing a knife. In response, an IDF commander opened fire on the perpetrator, striking and killing him.
Both victims - in their early 20s - were lightly hurt. Magen David Adom paramedics evacuated both of the wounded to Hadassah University Medical Center in Jerusalem's Ein Kerem neighborhood.
The IDF and the Shin Bet intelligence agency arrested Sheikh Hassan Yousef early on Tuesday during a raid on his West Bank home. Yousef is a senior Hamas leader in the West Bank. Security forces arrested him in the Palestinian town of Beitunia, southwest of Ramallah.
Yousef, 60, is involved in intensive activities aimed at inciting Palestinians to commit acts of terrorism, according to the army. The sheikh has been arrested and jailed in Israel on several past occasions. Israeli authorities accuse him of "[fomenting] violence and conflict against Israel among the Palestinian public." Soldiers from the Artillery Corps Ra'am (Thunder) battalion and units from the Binyamin territorial brigade arrested Yousef together with the Shin Bet, and took him in for questioning.

Woman Pleads with Bear to Stop Breaking her Kayak
From the author: "During a solo kayak trip, intended to go from from Ketchikan, Alaska to Petersburg, Alask, a bear attacked my kayak. This incident occurred outside of a US Forest Service cabin in Berg Bay, Wrangell District, Alaska. I had just carried my tent, food, and all my gear into the cabin to dry while I went on a 4 mile hike that begins just behind the cabin. I heard something outside as I ate my lunch, and well, I never got to go on that hike. This video is taken 5 minutes after the attack began, he continued to gnaw on it for another 5 or 10 after the video ends. Shortly after the bear left and I drug the kayak back to the cabin door step. Then I swam to the S/V anchored in the bay. They did not have their radio on and I feared I would be stranded! The German flagged S/V Caledonia took me and my things to Wrangell but headed home to Ketchikan on the ferry Monday! Thanks for all the support friends!"
Some are saying that perhaps the bear didn't respond to her was because his name probably isn't "Bear". Try with "Stuart" or "Jerry" next time.

A-Rod Smashes TV Monitor in Fox Sports Studio
The New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is used to breaking balls and even breaking records, but new Fox Sports analyst broke part of the set on the first day of his new job.
Rodriguez, 40, was signed by the network to comment on the Major League Baseball playoffs, but was chatting with its NFL studio team when he was asked to toss a football to journalist Jay Glazer.
The pass sailed above the diminutive Glazer's head and smashed into a video display behind him, cracking a television screen as the show's regular analysts broke out in a chorus of 'oooohs'.

Chief Rabbi Visits Desecrated Joseph's Tomb
Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef and a delegation from the Shomron Regional Council visited Joseph’s Tomb in Nablus late Sunday night to inspect the compound after it was severely damaged by Palestinian rioters who set fire to the site on Friday.
“‘The nations came and desecrated your sanctuary’,” said Yosef, citing a verse from the Book Psalms.
The recent attack on the site was heavily condemned by Israeli ministers, while the UN General Secretary also issued rare criticism of the Palestinians, describing the incident as “reprehensible.”
President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas was also critical of the arson attack on the holy site.
The Book of Joshua records that the biblical figure Joseph was buried in the city of Shechem, close to present day Nablus, and the tomb is believed to be his final resting place, although there is an archaeological debate on the issue.
Friday’s arson attack is the second time that Palestinians have tried to destroy the shrine.
In October 2000 at the beginning of the second intifada, Palestinian rioters entered the site and set fire to it, gutting the place and burning the prayer books and furniture at the tomb. The dome of the tomb was subsequently painted green in an apparent attempt to Islamicize the site, although the paint was subsequently removed.
The site was restored and re-dedicated in February 2011, but Jewish worship at Joseph’s Tomb has been strictly controlled since October 2000 and the site is fully under the control of the PA.

Man Rescues Couple From Mud
This is the touching moment a fisherman rushed to the rescue of two elderly tourists who were stuck in the mud by laying face down so they could pull themselves from harm’s way.
The dramatic scenes unfolded when the Norweigan couple became stuck in waist high mud while bird watching with their camera in the Krabi river in Southern Thailand.
Cameraman Theerasak Saksritawee captured the couple , believed to be about 60-years-old, trying to move but held in place by the suction-which is when Chat Ubonchinda spotted them from his fishing boat.
The quick-thinking fisherman waded over and lifted the couples photography gear and rucksacks to higher ground before attempting to pull them free with his hands. But the effort proved unsuccessful as the fisherman started to sink into the mud with the birdwatchers.
Rather than trying to call emergency services, the Good Samaritan tried a more humbling approach when he lay face down in the mud and let them up by pulling against his body. Once the tourists were safe and sound, the fisherman gave them a smile and a bow before returning to his boat.
The couple have since tried to contact the man to show their appreciation but he told reporters he did not want anything in return for his good deeds.

Terror Attack At Beersheba Central Bus Station
One person was killed and seven people have been injured in a shooting and stabbing terror attack at Be'er Sheva's Central Bus Station. One of the casualties was seriously injured and four more have suffered moderate wounds. The seventh casualty is lightly wounded, according to Magen David Adom chief Eli Bin.
Two terrorists are believed to have carried out the attack. One suspected terrorist has been killed and the other is in critical condition. He was reportedly caught and shot after he hid in a public restroom.
Security camera footage apparently shows how one of the terrorists was shot dead.
However, Channel 1 quoted police as saying one of the men shot as a suspected terrorist may not have been a terrorist at all, but an Eritrean infiltrator who was mistaken for a terrorist.
According to reports, one of the terrorists was armed with a gun and the other with a knife. They were reportedly brought to the Central Bus Station in a car by an accomplice who then drove off and there is a dragnet in search of that vehicle.
A large number of Magen David Adom paramedics and police delivered emergency first aid to victims and evacuated them to Soroka hospital.
It is not clear how the armed terrorists succeeded in penetrating into the Central Bus Station, which is under heavy security.
Chief Superintendent Doron Ben Amo of the Be'er Sheva police said that the terrorists were apparently armed with a knife and a handgun. One of the terrorists stabbed a soldier and took his M-16 semiautomatic rifle from him, and then started firing it.
