City Workers Paint Disabled Parking Box Around Car

City workers in Tel Aviv were captured on video painting a disabled parking box around a car, then towing it away.

Hila Ben Baruch who had parked—legally—near her apartment was shocked to return and find her car was missing. City officials notified her that she would have to pay 1300 Israeli Shekels—or $365 US—in fines and towing expenses to get her car back. Hila told the Haaretz News Agency that, “Within five minutes they turned me into a criminal.” But she wasn’t about to take it lying down. Hila was able to obtain a video from a surveillance camera that proved the shenanigans on the part of municipal workers.

In this video posted to Facebook, municipal workers are seen painting white lines around Ms. Ben Baruch’s car and then adding the universal symbol of a wheelchair behind the car to denote a disabled parking spot. Later, a tow truck can be seen lifting the vehicle from its space and towing it away.

The city of Tel Aviv has since apologized to Ben Baruch and dropped the fines.

News Reporter Gets Punched In The Face

An investigative reporter for local Atlanta CBS affiliate WGCL got more than he bargained for this week when he went into the field to find a business man who had been charged with stealing customers’ tax refunds.

Reporter Jeff Chirico encountered the father of the man he was attempting to investigate, who was not very welcoming of the local news team. The elderly man grabbed Chirico by the collar and made a fist, saying “it only costs 35 bucks to bust this man in the mouth.” When Chirico tried to enter the man’s property, he found himself getting punched in the face and falling to the ground. The man came after him again, warning, “Don’t you dare attempted to go in my business. Chirico, who was not seriously injured, said he would be calling the police “and you’ll be arrested for assault” before the man threatened to punch him again.

Outraged By Brooklyn College Anti-Israel Forum

Protesters at Brooklyn College rallied against a pro-Palestinian forum scheduled to be held on the campus next week. The demonstrators say the lecture featuring two people from an anti-Israel group is egregious and portrays the school as being supportive of radicalism.
Students were mixed on the issue. Some say they favor divergent opinions while others say there is no excuse for hatred. College officials say their campus is very diverse, which is why they decided to go ahead with the event. It will be held Feb. 7 with a question and answer period to follow.

"This lecture, which is funded by tax dollars, gives a platform to the BDS movement, whose goal is to delegitimize Israel's existence," said Assemblyman Hikind. "Like its philosophical brothers in Hamas, BDS aims to eliminate the State of Israel from the map. Only its tactics differ from its terrorist cousins: While Hamas blows up busses of innocent men, women and children, BDS works to isolate Israelis, to cut them off from business."
