Vice President Pence Visits Chabad of Poway
While on a visit to San Diego Thursday, US Vice President Mike Pence used the opportunity to stop by at the Chabad Center of Poway, which was the scene of a tragic shooting a few months ago, and show his solidarity with the Jewish community.
Poway Shliach Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein embraced Pence as he entered the Chabad Center’s lobby. Goldstein’s hands were still wrapped with a blue bandage, covering the injuries he received from the gunman.
“We had to come,” Pence told Goldstein.
The Vice President and his wife Karen toured the Chabad Center, accompanied by Rabbi Goldstein, who described the horrific event in detail, retracing the shooters’ footsteps.
“I was looking down the barrel of a rifle, right here in my home,” Goldstein said. “I heard children playing behind me.”
Rabbi Goldstein also showed Vice President Pence the Mechitza in the Shul which still contains bullet holes from the tragic event.
Rabbi Goldstein then blessed the Vice President and his wife with the blessing of “Yevarechecha,” in Hebrew and English, and thanked him for being there for the American people.
“Rabbi Goldstein thanked the Vice President for coming to our home, building a bridge between Washington and our house of worship,” a person in attendance told COLlive.
“Karen & I were honored to stop by the Chabad of Poway, the site of a terrible shooting in April. To Rabbi Goldstein—your faith & courage is an inspiration to the nation. No one should fear in a house of worship. We will always condemn evil acts of antisemitism. We are with you!” the Vice President tweeted after the visit.

Floridian Caught Falling on Car
"We run a small used car dealership here in Fort Myers. We came into work, we were shocked to see a huge dent in the roof of a 2016 luxury sedan. We looked at the video from the security cameras to see if they held the answer to that crazy dent. There we saw that at 4:00 a.m. that morning, something fell from the roof of the building and hit the car, it was a person! We found one of the ladders that we keep behind a fence, was leaning up against the building in the back. We plan on locking up our ladders from now on. You never know when some crazy person may want to get on your roof in the middle of the night."

Elephant Really Wanted iPhone
"As we stood there, we were all admiring the beauty of this animal by taking photos and petting it as it was reaching out to us. I stood there smiling with joy, as elephants are one of my favorite animals, so I started to take some photos. I thought to myself, “Wow, no one is going to believe I was this close to a real live elephant” but boy did I get “close.”
"Next thing I knew, WHAM!! Right in the side stomach. I felt like 10 people had punched me at once as I was catapulted backwards and my phone flew forward to the ground. I abruptly crashed into one of the people that was on our trip and he stopped my fall, but the “abrupt” feeling of surprise was still there! Yes, I had the wind knocked out of me, no it didn’t hurt, yes I’m okay, and yes I still love elephants!
"It took me a couple of minutes to fully process the fact that I just got smacked by a real living elephant."

Dr. Yaakov Siegel at the Lubavitcher Rebbe's Ohel
The Zohar teaches that “A tzadik who departs is to be found in all worlds more than in his lifetime.” Because he is free of his corporeal limitations, the tzadik is able to grace those who connect to him with the full impact of his spiritual energies, imparting to them the love and fear of G-d, and showering them with abundant blessing and extraordinary miracles.
Upon the passing of his father-in-law and predecessor, the Rebbe advised people to continue jotting down their requests and to read the note (or place it on the table) in the room where he received people during his lifetime or at his graveside.“The Rebbe,” he said, “will find a way to respond.”
In a similar fashion, many Yidden all over the world today continue seeking direction, blessing, and advice from the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson Zechuso Yagen Aleinu, visiting his resting place or slipping a note into a volume of his holy work. Here are their stories.

A Team Orchestra Feat. Pumpidisa - Yishtabach Shemo
Music was always something we connected with, going back to when we were younger. Tzvi Levin of Pumpidisa befriended Yitzy Schwartz of The A Team 15+ years ago Upstate NY. As teenagers we spent our summers in the Catskill Mountains. This was the most exciting time of year where we would spend long nights together playing music in various abandoned locations such as the Raleigh Hotel concert hall, Reservoirs, Forests and under the famous 4 Corners Bridge down by the waterfall.
We even recall the time we got kicked out of an old long closed down jail in Monticello area. Things were starting to get a bit energetic. There were about 30 of us. It was about an hour and half before sunrise Thursday night Parshas Korach 2004, Yitzy had just begun Carlebach’s Esa Einai and before we knew it the Sheriff came bustling in with loud whistles ordering us to stand against the wall with our hands up. Tzvi then stepped forward and explained to the officer that we were just looking to sing some songs of gratitude to our Creator, and in our Bungalow Colonies we weren’t able to make noise past 11pm. The officers then agreed to let us stay another half hour. They were listening in awe and asked us to invite them to our next gathering.
This song was performed at the Scheiner Sheva Brachos. We felt it would be appropriate, whereas Mr. Scheiner has been an integral part of the Hachnasos Orchim in Ukraine by Reb Nachman of Uman.
This song was composed by Shlomo Ettlinger CPA who has been a humble follower of the Breslov path for close to 15 years. The Middle Eastern scale is perhaps influenced by living many years in the Old City, Jerusalem.
