Yeshiva Shaarei Torah: Building on a History of Success

On Carlton Road in the heart of Monsey sits a treasure.

It’s a treasure that has been giving forth diamonds for four decades, enriching the community around it and benefitting many people beyond its immediate environs.

That treasure is Yeshiva Shaarei Torah, a pioneering mosad haTorah that continues to serve as a mainstay in the greater olam haTorah, standing at the forefront of the Torah world, producing bnei Torah who have gone on to spread what they’ve learned and to be marbitz Torah in communities across the globe.

As Yeshiva Shaarei Torah prepares for its gala expansion dinner on March 26, it is enlightening to take a look back at the history of this bastion of Torah.

Handcuffed Suspect in Custody Jumps Out Window

A Wisconsin assault suspect has been captured on CCTV escaping a police station by diving out of a window head-first in handcuffs.

Quantrell D. Schwartzlow, 17, managed to flee the Rock County Sheriff’s Office in Janesville after being left alone in an interview room.

The teenager had been hauled from his classroom at Orfordville Parkview High School on October 18 and arrested on suspicion of strangulation/suffocation in an August 1 assault.

Schwartzlow was placed in the interview room on the same day ready for questioning.

Footage shows the teen heading straight for the window as the detective leaves the room.

He opens the blinds and pushes the window out before diving headfirst from 12ft up. A second camera picks him up sprinting across the lawn making his getaway.

About 14 minutes later, the detective returns to find the room empty and the window wide open,

Pelican Boards Boat for a Bite

"We went fishing in the Gulf Canal which is in the game reserve on Wednesday, February 13th, 2019. When we arrived in our fishing spot I turned off the motor. At that time I heard the weeds moving from the bank. That's when a pelican flew and landed about one foot from my boat. I was in disbelief and in awe. I started videoing because I didn't think anyone would believe me. The pelican flew in my boat in landed on the rail and stayed with us for about 4 hours. He hopped around the boat, sat on my motor and just hung out. He even ate my grandson's ham sandwich and took a nap on the front seat. The pelican was not aggressive at all. It was truly an amazing day, it was such a rare and beautiful sight to see. The belly laughs from my grandson were priceless. I will treasure this day and memory forever."

Shloime Kaufman - Acheinu - New Single

In the time of the Purim story, the Jews were; as throughout the past; on the verge of complete annihilation and in desperate need of salvation. They prayed to the master of the world to save them.

With the joyous occasion of Purim just around the corner we today also pray for the salvation of those in need. The power of prayer at this time of the year is most certainly heard by our merciful father above. The words of Acheinu have always been on our lips whenever we think of our brethren in need.

With this in mind, we introduce this new track by Shloime Kaufman. This new release marks the beginning of the next chapter of Shloime's accomplished career with many other songs along with their poignant messages due to be released in the near future.

Please take a moment now to pray together with all of the Jewish world  for our brothers in despair that HASHEM have mercy upon them, and bring them from darkness to light, and from subjection to redemption, now speedily and soon; אמן כן יהי רצון!!!

Schoolgirls Nearly Struck As Driver Uses Sidewalk

VIN News -  Brooklyn, NY - For the second time in less than a week, Jewish children on their way to school had their lives endangered by a vehicle driving on the sidewalk.

Surveillance footage showed two backpack-clad Chasidic girls jumping out of the way of an oncoming pickup truck as they waited to cross Harrison Avenue at the corner of Wallabout Street in Williamsburg just before 8:30 AM.

The late model, four door, black Chevrolet pickup with flashing yellow dashboard lights was at the northeast corner of Harrison Avenue, and with traffic jamming the intersection, the driver drove around a school bus and mounted the curb, missing the two girls at the southeast corner of Harrison Avenue by approximately three feet.

This morning’s incident follows another that took place on February 20th when the driver of a blue Toyota Avalon drove on the sidewalk on 53rd Street between 18th and 19th avenues in Borough Park to avoid having to wait behind a stopped school bus, just as a second school bus was unloading small children at Talmud Torah Imrei Chaim Viznitz.

Surveillance footage showed the youngsters and a supervising teacher staring in surprise as the car inched slowly towards the building’s entrance while the children crossed in front of the vehicle, with the driver zooming down the sidewalk as the teacher held the rest of the boys back and out of harm’s way.

Sources told VIN News that the driver of the Avalon had had words with the driver of the stopped school bus just before the incident took place.

Police said that they have impounded the Avalon but an investigation is still underway and that they have yet to apprehend the driver of the vehicle.

I’m Yitzi Hurwitz And I Know That I Matter

I was talented. I could teach, lecture, sing, dance and play guitar. I was
strong and handy.Within two years, I watched that all slip away. My muscles that played guitar, gave to my congregation and danced at weddings lost their functionality. They call it ALS.
