Uzi Bodner - Refaeinu - New Single
Uzi Bodner's second single is not your typical song a unique melody that pulls at your heartstrings. When Uzi sat down with the legendary composer Yitzy Waldner, Uzi had a vision of crafting a song that expressed a heartfelt tefillah for those in need of a refuah. For Uzi, "Refaeinu" has a special meaning. Aside from singing by weddings and other simchos, Uzi also sings for Misameach, an organization dedicated to enriching the lives of sick people. This song is infused with uzi's heart and soul. This song is a melodic representation of an appreciation of Hashem's wondrous world, the fragility of good health, and the importance of tefillah. The song is produced and arranged by Doni Gross, one of Jewish music's biggest names.

Shlomo Helbrans & Lev Tahor Back in the News
After having been forced to abandon Israel, the United States and Canada amid accusations of child abuse, the radical ultra-Orthodox Lev Tahor sect is now under investigation in Guatemala, where it has been based for the past two years.
Guatemalan media reported that police had conducted a raid lasting several hours on the village where over 200 Lev Tahor members live. One unconfirmed report said children were taken away from their parents, and another said that Israeli officials were present during the raid.
Originally established in Israel, cult leader Sholomo Helbrans fled to the United States at settled in Monsey, NY during the early 1990's. In 1994 he was convicted for kidnapping in the 13-year-old child Shay Fima case, and served a two-year prison term. Following the loss of status in the US, he was deported to Israel in 2000, where he was to be sentenced for various accusations by people whose family members had joined the community Lev Tahor. He fled to Canada, where he was granted refugee status, and settled his cult in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec, for 12 years. In November 2013, amid clashes with the education authorities most members of the group (claiming religious persecution) left for Ontario. A year later, under the cover of night, he moved his group once again, this time to Guatemala, where they remain today.

Obama and Netanyahu Meet at UN
President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sat down for what may be their final official meeting Wednesday, seemingly determined not to let their rocky eight-year relationship define the future of U.S.-Israeli cooperation. The two stalwart allies — and occasional antagonists — trumpeted the "extensive security and intelligence cooperation" between the United States and Israel, which culminated in a new 10-year, $38 billion military aid package agreed to last week.

Pilot Has Close Call on Runway
A stunt pilot walked away with minor injuries following a harrowing crash at the start of an air race in Nevada, all of which was caught on his cockpit camera.
Thom Richard, pilot of 'Hot Stuff," a IF-1 Class stunt plane shared his incredible story and also posted the video of the crash
On September 18, Richard was set to take off in the fourth position during the Gold final at the Reno Championship Air Races when his plane suffered an engine malfunction. Richard shut down his engine and signaled to race officials to stop the race.
According to Richard, the flagman signaled back to the pilot with his arms crossed, indicating the start would be red flagged. Richard then popped his canopy up but noticed the flagman waving his arms
The wing of the other plane is seen in the video shearing off the clear canopy and nearly taking off Richard's head as he sat low in his seat. Just after the crash, emergency personnel is seen rushing to Richard's aid. He tells them that he has an injury to his right hand, but everything else is okay.

Making Way For an Ambulance in India
People in India do not really behave when it comes to traffic snarls or making way for ambulances during heavy rush on roads.
Recently, revelers participating in a festival came to a standstill as soon as a an ambulance was heard wailing in the background. The performers completely stopped the music, and in the pin-drop silence the crowd made way for the ambulance to pass through.

World's Largest Elevator
A permanent shiplift on the Three Gorges Dam in central China's Hubei Province began trial operation on Sunday. The shiplift, designed by a Chinese and German team, is the largest and most sophisticated in the world, according to the China Three Gorges Corp., a state-owned company responsible for the construction of the Three Gorges project.
The beginning of its trial operation marks the completion of the Three Gorges project 22 years after construction on the mammoth project began, said Zhang Shuguang, assistant general manager of the corporation.
The vertical-hoisting elevator is designed to help small and medium-sized ships, with a maximum displacement of about 3,000 tonnes, to traverse the dam. The water level behind the dam is up to 113 meters higher than the downstream river.
The shiplift is equipped with a ship-chamber, which has a pool of water 120-meters long, 18-meters wide and 3.5-meters deep. The chamber, its mechanical systems and the water weigh 15,500 tonnes altogether. The shiplift has been installed to complement the five-tier ship lock next to it, which is also the world's largest and has allowed ships to pass through since 2003.
The ship lock is running at full capacity, with its cargo throughput standing at 119.6 million tonnes in 2015, compared with 34.31 million tonnes in 2004. The increase has been attributed to the booming water transportation sector in the mountainous regions of the Three Gorges, including the southwestern municipality of Chongqing.
It used to take ships about three to four hours to pass the dam via the ship lock. The shiplift will cut this time to about 40 minutes to one hour.

Eitan Katz - Holocaust Story - Music Video
A few months ago I had the z’chus of leading the davening throughout shabbos at Congregation Ohab Tzedek in Manhattan. After mussaf, an elderly man (although with a youthful bounce to his step) by the name of Rene Slotkin approached me, gave me a yasher koach and wished me a gut shabbos...
After speaking about how he was a survivor of Auschwitz, he then told me the incredible story of how the actual numbers on his arm served as testimony that Hashem was with him throughout his time in the death camp.
Be Inspired...click on the above link to watch Mr. Slotkin tell his story, along with a nigun I humbly composed inspired by this tale of true faith in Hashem.

US Navy Launches New War Ship
The Navy's newest warship was launched in Wisconsin Saturday morning. The future USS Wichita splashed in the water at a shipyard in Marinette.
The ship is one of the newest class of combat vessels in the Navy's arsenal. Those ships are designed to operate close to shorelines, helped by agility and speed. The Navy has already had two vessels named after the largest city in Kansas and Wichita Mayor Jeff Longwell said he's happy to see a third.

Teacher Asks Child To Sing The "ABC's"
By mid-September, back to school celebrations are over as students across the country dive into their studies. Making the transition from lazy summer days to sitting at a desk for several hours can take a toll.
In this adorable video, a very young learner appears to be having a good day. He's so positive and upbeat. Perhaps he just found out about snack time? That all changes, however, when he's asked to sing his ABCs.
He dutifully complies and despite knowing his stuff, reciting the alphabet reduces him to tears.

Stranded Kitten Saved in Russia
A tiny kitten in Kaliningrad, Russia, tumbled out of an SUV on a busy roadway on Sept. 12. The kitten narrowly missed the wheels of another SUV as it somersaulted down the outside lane of Alexander Nevsky street, coming to a halt in the middle of the road.
The city, between Poland and Lithuania off the coast of the Baltic Sea, has a surveillance camera system called “Safe City” that captured the cat’s death-defying minutes on the road.
Car after car and truck after truck swerved to avoid the black kitten, just a small smudge in the middle of the asphalt. Trucks passed directly over the animal as it lay between their wheels.
After what Safe City described as 3½ minutes (the agency shortened the surveillance footage down to about a minute), a Peugeot came to a halt near the cat and switched on its hazard lights.
As other vehicles whizzed by, the driver stepped out and, after prodding the kitten, picked it up and carried it back to his vehicle. He has not been identified.
