SpaceX Rocket Explodes on the Launch Pad
This is the dramatic moment the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket suffered a catastrophic explosion on the Cape Canaveral launch pad during a routine pre-launch check on Thursday morning.
The blast, which shook buildings and windows miles away, occurred shortly after 9am and destroyed Facebook's $200million Amos-6 satellite that was set to launch on Saturday morning aboard the reusable rocket.
Billionaire SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said the cause of the massive blast - which caused no injuries - is still unknown as the accident throws into question the future of his program of subcontracting his 'reusable' and 'recycled' rockets to NASA.
The satellite would have opened up free internet to more than 14 countries in Africa to serve the most populated areas more efficiently.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who confirmed that the company's satellite was destroyed in the huge blast, called it 'deeply disappointing,' as he is currently visiting several countries on the continent and likely would have marked the occasion of the satellite launch there had it been successful.
The mishap dealt a severe blow to SpaceX, still scrambling to catch up with satellite deliveries following a launch accident last year. It's also a setback for NASA, which has been counting on the private company to keep the International Space Station stocked with supplies and, ultimately, astronauts.

Hawk Throws Snake at Family Barbecue

A viral video of a hawk appearing to drop a snake on a family visiting Australia, which sparked a debate over its authenticity, has been confirmed as a hoax. It was uploaded to YouTube by user Douglas Wong, 22, who claimed the hawk dropped the snake on his family as they enjoyed a BBQ in Melbourne, Australia.
Amid speculation it was created by Melbourne-based video production company The Woolshed Company, it has since been confirmed as fake. It was created for Australian Football League club The Hawks (Hawthorn Football Club).
“It was quite incredible,” said a Hawthorn spokesperson.
“We wanted everyone to know that it’s September and the Hawks are on the attack and hopefully we’ve succeeded.
“Our aim was to create a real buzz around the launch of our seventh consecutive finals campaign and really get people talking.
“The debate over its authenticity has been had by various media outlets across both Australia and the globe. Hopefully we haven’t scared too many people off a BBQ by the Yarra.”
The video racked up thousands of hits online within 24 hours of being uploaded, however online commentators and bird experts argued the clip was fake. A frame-by-frame analysis appeared to show that a ‘layer’ created during the apparent editing process had not been removed.

Experts from the Australian Wildlife Park also told BuzzFeed the footage could be real, adding the hawk could have been bitten by the snake.

Binghamton, NY - Dramatic dash cam video shows a violent 10-car pileup as it happened on a highway in New York last week.
A car went up in flames on impact and bystanders risked their own lives by running to help a woman who was trapped in a vehicle. Eyewitnesses said flames were shooting everywhere, and broken glass was flying all over the scene. That woman survived with just minor cuts and bruises thanks to the help of strangers who came to her rescue.
Ten people were taken to the hospital. Two suffered serious injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Luckiest Dog in the World Just Keeps Running
A rally event in Bolivia almost turned deadly for one wandering pooch when onlookers could only gasp and close their eyes with the car drifting around the track. Fans were watching the second stage of El Rally Codasur when they spied the small dog wandering down the dirt road like it was nothing.
In the distance an engine can be heard getting progressively louder. Fans tried their best to warn the driver, but to no avail. The dog was surely going to die in front of them.
It turns out that just as the dog was heading down the straight, it happened to run over an embankment. That doesn’t mean much — unless a rally car is barreling down on you.

Boy is Wedged Between Two Cows
This young boy's interview was hilariously upstaged by two cows
A panicked little boy was nearly crushed between two cows on live TV – all while his friend delivered a straight-faced interview.
A young boy with blonde hair was being interviewed at a cattle farm while a fellow youngster tended to two cows in the background. As the blonde child spoke, his friend suddenly became trapped between the two animals.
The entertaining antics all unfolded during a live interview on TV.
While the serious interview goes on, it is the scene behind the boy which draws everyone's attention.
The desperate youngster frantically tries to free himself, using his elbows as he fights to escape the vice-like grip of the two mighty animals. His red, grimacing face can barely be seen above the unforgiving animals' backs as he pleads for help. All of this takes place as the blonde child being interviewed talks about an upcoming local sports event.
At one point, the trapped child even disappears entirely from site, such is his uncomfortable predicament. Eventually, a woman intervenes and lifts the struggling youngster out.
The red-faced boy immediately walks away, appearing incredibly deflated and embarrassed.
