CCTV footage that emerged Thursday showed how a fisherman's lightning-quick reflexes saved the life of two-year-old Ali Ceyhan, whose stroller was speeding down a hill in the southwestern Turkish city of Bodrum and was just seconds from plunging over the side of a steep slope. Footage originally recorded Wednesday shows the man dropping his phone to run into the street to snatch the speeding stroller.

Belgian Soldiers Patrol Antwerp's Jewish Quarter
Belgian paratroopers fanned out Saturday to guard possible terror targets across the country, including some buildings within the Jewish quarter of the port city of Antwerp, amid heightened security threat. Read more: Belgium sends troops to Jewish sites, Britain boosts patrols amid raised terror fears
It was the first time in 30 years that authorities used troops to reinforce police in Belgium’s cities, and came a day after anti-terror raids netted dozens of suspects across Western Europe.
Belgium has increased its terror warning to 3, the second-highest, following the anti-terror raids of Thursday which left two suspects dead amid fears they had been planning imminent attacks on police and their office.
French, German, Belgian and Irish police had at least 30 suspects behind bars on Friday and in Brussels, authorities said a dozen searches led to the seizure of four Kalashnikov assault rifles, hand guns and explosives. Several police uniforms were also found, which Belgian authorities said suggested the plotters had intended to masquerade as police officers.
The seizures followed an anti-terrorism sweep on Thursday in and around Brussels and the eastern industrial city of Verviers in which two suspects were killed in a firefight and a third wounded. Authorities said the follow-up operation netted several returnees from Islamic holy war in Syria.
Some 150 paratroopers were watching synagogues in Antwerp, the Jewish Museum in Brussels and other selected building across the nations. The figure could be double in the coming days until the situation will be reviewed next week.

Terrifying Tire Crash Into Windshield
It's every driver's worst nightmare. Captured in 20 seconds of chill-inducing video.
Andrew Sukhdeo was lucky enough to walk away unscathed after a wheel came flying off of a car travelling in the opposite direction on Highway 401 near Ajax, ON this week.
"I saw the tire just as it bounced for the first time and I was trying to calculate where it was going to come down but everything was just happening so quickly that there was just no time to react or think. I just kind of ducked," Sukhdeo told CTV.
All considered, things could have been worse. Sukhdeo told CP24 that he walked away with nothing more than the need for a new sunroof and windshield for his Toyota Corolla.

High Speed Car Wash
A very close call was caught on camera a local car wash.
“That’s a whole new level of Quick Quack,” Mitch Shiveley, Site Manager of Quick Quack Car Wash in Sacramento, CA on Bicentennial Circle said.
Friday, a 94 year-old man paid for this wash, then suddenly blasted through to the wash area at 40 miles per hour, taking workers by surprise.
Cars are usually in neutral when they enter the wash, and get pulled in through a conveyor system, until they get pushed out to the vacuum area. But this car crashed straight into the vacuums.
No one was injured, but employees said it was close.

Yosemite Free-Climb Duo Reach El Capitan Summit
Nineteen days. Three thousand feet of some of the hardest climbing in the world. And just their bare hands and sticky-soled shoes to get them up the granite-faced monster known as the Dawn Wall.
Many other people had climbed El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. None of them ever reached the top after free climbing the Dawn Wall as Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson did Wednesday.
The two began climbing on December 27 and didn't come off the wall until the finished. They slept in hanging cots. Others sent them food when they needed it. They had safety ropes for the times they lost hold.

Hockey Player Clotheslines Himself With His Own Stick
Mitchell Skiba has given the sports world its first fail of 2015.
Skiba, a junior hockey player from northern Michigan, was ejected from a recent game and he inexplicably decided to flip his stick horizontally while skating through the narrow doorway. It was a bad decision.
The stick didn’t give, and Skiba, who plays for the Alpena Flyers, wound up clotheslining himself and his momentum knocked him right off of his feet and onto his rear-end.
Skiba quickly got up off the ground and hustled back to the locker room, leaving the stick on the ice.

Giant Hippo Stalks Speedboat
Footage taken from a speed boat in the Kafue National Park in Zambia has captured the moment they were chased by a humongous hippopotamus.
It shows the moment the incredibly fast and hungry hippo started to stalk the boat causing a wave of water in its wake. as it started to inch closer the boat picked up speed - and just in the nick of time.
The gigantic hippo was filmed launching out of the water just metres from the people on board the boat and crashed back into the water.

Jerusalem Funeral for French Jewish Victims
Israeli leaders gathered with the families of the four Jewish victims of a Paris terror attack on a kosher supermarket for an emotional funeral procession in Jerusalem.
Relatives of the victims each spoke briefly and lit a torch in memory of their loved ones before stepping off the stage with a huge Israeli flag in the background to embrace Israel’s president, the prime minister and his wife.
Yohan Cohen, Yoav Hattab, Francois-Michel Saada and Phillipe Braham died Friday during a tense hostage standoff at the market on the eastern edge of Paris. The bodies were brought by plane to Israel early Tuesday morning.
“Yoav, Yohan, Phillipe, Francois-Michel - this is not how we wanted to welcome you to Israel,” President Reuven Rivlin said, his voice quivering. “We wanted you alive, we wanted for you, life. At moments such as these, I stand before you, brokenhearted, shaken and in pain, and with me stands and cries an entire nation.”
The four were among 17 people killed in a wave of terror attacks carried out over three days last week by militants claiming allegiance to al-Qaida and the Islamic State extremist groups.
The killings shocked France’s 500,000 strong Jewish community - the largest in Europe - and deepened fears among European Jewish communities already shaken by rising anti-Semitism and threats from Muslim extremists.
The attack sparked calls from Israeli leaders for European Jews to immigrate to the Jewish state, a call repeated by Rivlin.

Jerusalem's Most Contested Neighborhood
Throughout the past several months, Jerusalem has been a scene of clashes and violent attacks. Silwan, a Palestinian neighborhood just steps away from Jerusalem's Old City, has been at the heart of the unrest, and is becoming one of the most contentious neighborhoods in the most contested city in the world.
As settlement expansion into East Jerusalem continues, Israeli authorities have ramped up their practice of demolishing homes built without proper permits — permits which are near impossible for Palestinians to acquire. In addition to the demolitions due to lack of permits, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced in early November the reinstatement of the policy of demolishing terrorists' homes, which Palestinians claim is a form of collective punishment.
VICE News traveled to Silwan and met with Palestinians and Israelis living in this contested neighborhood at a time when Jerusalem is more divided than ever.

On Monday the ZAKA volunteers were working with the local burial society to treat the bodies of the victims and prepare them to fly to Israel for burial. The ZAKA volunteers also worked at the scene of the terror attack at the Charlie Hebdo offices where, it has been discovered, there were three Jews among the victims.

Jewish Man Invents Word for 'Nieces and Nephews'
Mother and father? Parents.
Brother and sister? Siblings.
Niece and nephew? Um. ...
Attorney Rabbi Schneur Stephen Polter has figured out a solution. The 44-year-old Oak Park Jewish resident has created a term and is now working to spread, um, the word.
It's sofralia — "so" from the Latin word for sister, "fra" from the Latin word for brother and "lia" from the end of the Latin word for "child."
Polter has been using "sofralia" (soe-FRAIL-yah) for years, but the public push comes as a footnote in his fourth self-published book, which came out last fall.
His dream is to get the word in the Merriam-Webster dictionary, which assesses usage when determining what new terms to add. No joke; think "selfie."

Over 3 Million Rally Against Terror In France
The French Interior Ministry says 3.7 million marched throughout France for an unprecedented rally to show unity in the face of terrorism after attacks that killed 17. The Interior Ministry said that an estimated 2.5 million marched across France in cities and towns Sunday, and between 1.2 and 1.6 million in Paris. But it said a precise account is impossible given the enormity of the turnout in the capital.
Dozens of world leaders including Muslim and Jewish statesmen linked arms leading hundreds of thousands of French citizens in an unprecedented march under high security to pay tribute to victims of Islamist militant attacks.
President Francois Hollande and leaders from Germany, Italy, Israel, Turkey, Britain and the Palestinian territories among others, moved off from the central Place de la Republique ahead of a sea of French and other flags.
France’s Interior Ministry said the Paris rally for unity against terrorism on Sunday was the largest demonstration in France’s history — a march organized to show harmony after three days of attacks that left 17 dead. Calling the rally “unprecedented,” the ministry said the demonstrators were so numerous they spread beyond the official march route, making them impossible to count. French media estimate up to 3 million are taking part, more than the numbers who took to Paris streets when the Allies liberated the city from the Nazis in World War II.
