Kaliver Rebbe Sings Sol O Kokosh Mar At Danube River

More then 200 rabbis on Monday March 24th 2014 commemorated the 70th anniversary of the extermination of Hungarian Jewry by the Nazis, during a memorial in Budapest.

The commemoration was organized in the framework of the two-day annual conference of the Rabbinical Center of Europe, (RCE), an organization dedicated to assist rabbis across the continent. The conference brought more then 200 rabbis from across Europe and Israel in the Hungarian capital in order to discuss issues relating to assimilation and communal attrition. The Rabbis marched several blocks along the banks of the Danube River to the Shoes on the Danube Promenade, a Holocaust memorial site. The memorial is the site of a massacre by Hungarian fascists who lined Jews up along the river, made them remove their shoes and shot them, allowing their bodies to land in the Danube.

According to Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, some 568,000 Hungarian Jews were murdered during the Holocaust.

Holocaust survivor Chief Rabbi Menachem Mendel Taub, the ‘’Kaliver Rebbe’’ were also in attendance. The Kaliver Rebbe, who was born in Transylvania, returned on Monday to the country that expelled him and his family to Auschwitz, which he left alone at the end of the war after serious torture.    "The SS took us from the bunker, 20 people," he said. "They didn't bring us any food or drink for two days. We had a small pocket with breadcrumbs, and each of us took our the crumbs and put them on the floor, so that if someone was already starving to death, they would still have something to live on."

Rebbe Isaac Taub of Kalov, zy"a, (1751-1821) overheard this Hungarian song being sung by a gentile shepherd boy. He recognized the tune to be from the ancient Holy Temple in Jerusalem. He "bought" the song from the boy, and the boy immediately forgot the song once the Rebbe learned it. He added the words in Hebrew about Temple, recognizing the story of the bird to actually be a parable of the exile of the Jewish people, and the importance of waiting for God to take us home, and not to take matters into our own hands.

Yaancha by Yosi & Avi Piamenta Feat: Naftali Kalfa

Upon learning of Yossi Piamenta’s current medical situation, Naftali Kalfa composed the song “Yaancha." When Naftali went to visit Yossi in NY, they soon found themselves in familiar settings, a recording studio making music.

This song is produced & arranged by Yosi Piamenta, may he merit a long life until 120!

The song is dedicated to the speedy recovery of “Yoseph ben Genia” (Yosi Piamenta) and all the sick amongst Israel.
The brothers Piamenta first started their careers back in the 70’s when they were the first pioneers of their genre and created a rock band with heavy Chasidic and Middle Eastern influences which swept up the youth of that generation and ours. Since then they have been collaborating with big names in music and have performed all over the world.

Naftali Kalfa has released 2 albums. The first was a joint project with the Piamenta brothers, “Yehyu Leratzon”. The second album, released in 2013, “The Naftali Kalfa Project” is a double album. In it Naftali hosts Yosi Piamenta among others

Canada Border Services Arrests 7 Lev Tahor Members

Seven members of the ultra-Orthodox Jewish group Lev Tahor were arrested yesterday over immigration issues.

The Canadian Press writes that Stephen Doig, executive director of Chatham-Kent Children’s Services, stated they worked with the CBSA and that the seven members arrested have a combined 28 children.

Doig said that children whose parents are both in custody are now in the care of the children’s services. It is not known how long the children will be in their care.

Eight Lev Tahor children were detained last month after leaving Canada with their families before a scheduled hearing. Six were stopped at Trinidad and Tobago trying to head to Guatemala and two others were found in Calgary. Six more children – also part of the custody battle – remain in Guatemala.

Nail Biting Climb Of Ukraine Bridge And Back Flip

Only for it to end badly, though not the "badly" you were expecting.

A British 'freerunner' scaled the top of a bridge and performed a back-flip while hundreds of feet in the air.  James Kingston, who describes himself as a 'professional adventurer', climbed 380 feet to the top of the Moscow bridge in Kiev along with friend Mustang Wanted.  The pair are then seen dangling each other over the edge of the bridge, before the nail biting footage shows Mr Kingston do a back flip without wearing any safety gear. But despite nailing his landing, the end of the stunt doesn't quite go as planned.

Gross Bros. Welcomed Back to School with New Song

The tragedy that occurred in the Givat Mordechai neighborhood of Yerushalayim on Wednesday 21 Shevat, 5774 had the country horrified. The Gross family became ill, apparently the result of having an exterminator work in their apartment a day earlier. As a result, two children R"L died in Shaare Zedek Hospital, sisters, Yaal and Avigail OBM, one  18-months-old and the second 4-years-old. Two other children Chaim Michael Shlomo  and Rafael Yitzhak Isaac, ages 5 and 7, remained hospitalized in a pediatric intensive care unit struggling for their lives.

Two months later, after a miraculous recovery, the young Gross brothers returned to their school "Talmud Torah Achiezer" . There they were welcomed back by hundreds of fellow school children and together with their parents celebrated with singing and dancing, thanking Hashem.

Singer Shlomo Cohen and keyboard player Ami Cohen found it appropriate  to teach the children a new song "Rofa" and the children in a particular, immediately caught on and sang along.

Archaeologists Find Treblinka Gas Chambers

Dig at Nazi death camp yields first physical evidence of gas chambers, 'massive amounts of human bone.'

The first-ever archaeological excavations at the Nazi death camp Treblinka in Poland have revealed new mass graves, as well as the first physical evidence that this camp held gas chambers. The camp had been bulldozed in 1943. To cover their tracks, the Nazis went so far as to plant crops and build a farmhouse on the leveled ground.

Presented in a new documentary, "Treblinka: Hitler's Killing Machine," which aired Saturday on the Smithsonian Channel, the excavations revealed brick walls and foundations from the gas chambers, as well as mass graves and massive amounts of human bone, some of which was close to the ground's surface or exposed to the elements.

Historians estimate that about 900,000 Jews were murdered at the camp over just 16 months.

The Nazis began deporting Jews to Treblinka in July 1942, mostly from the ghettos of Warsaw and Radom. There were two camps: Treblinka I was a forced-labor camp where prisoners were made to manufacture gravel for the Nazi war effort. A little more than a mile (2 kilometers) away was Treblinka II, the death camp, where Jews were sent on trains.

The victims were told that they were going to a transit camp before being sent on to a new life in eastern Europe. The deception was elaborate: Nazis erected a fake train station in the remote spot, complete with false ticket-counter and clock.

The gas chamber was the subject of the teams' second dig. The excavations revealed a brick wall and foundation. There were two sets of gas chambers built at Treblinka, the first with a capacity of about 600 people, the second able to hold about 5,000. The gas chambers were the only brick buildings in the camp, Colls said. The digs also revealed orange tiles that matched eyewitness descriptions of the floor of the gas chambers. Each tile was stamped with a Star of David, apparently in order to fool the victims into believing that the building was “a Jewish-style bathhouse.”

The Jewish deportees were split into two groups, one of men and the other of women and children, and ordered to undress for "delousing." After handing over their valuables and documents, the victims were sent to the gas chambers, which were pumped full of exhaust fumes from tank engines. “Within about 20 minutes, some 5,000 people inside would be killed by carbon monoxide poisoning. Corpses were initially buried in mass graves, but later in 1942 and 1943, Jewish slave laborers were forced to reopen the graves and cremate the bodies on enormous pyres,” adds Live Science.

After the war, Treblinka was turned into a memorial. Out of respect for the victims, no excavation was allowed there, until Colls and her colleagues won approval from Polish authorities as well as Jewish religious leaders to conduct a limited dig.
