All looked lost when this young and lone buffalo was attacked by two lions in a South African national park. But the pair had not bargained on the buffalo's friends coming to his rescue, and moments later they were tossed several feet in the air before being chased away. The dramatic scene was captured on camera in the Mjejane Reserve on the border of the Kruger Park.

Jewish Family Turns To White House To Save Son’s Life

A Houston Orthodox Jewish family has launched a petition to the Obama administration in an effort to get the Food and Drug Administration to allow their six year old son access to a treatment that they hope will cure his aggressive brain cancer.

Elisha Cohen was diagnosed with anaplastic medulloblastoma in October of 2012 and since that time has undergone neurosurgery and high dose chemotherapy to treat his cancer.  While tests showed that the treatments had initially eradicated the tumor, it returned several months later and was deemed by doctors to be untreatable.  “The doctors told me to go home, to take my son to Disneyland,” Elisha’s mother, Devorah Cohen told VIN News.  “But Jewish people don’t give up. It is not what we do.”

While the FDA pulled its approval for the treatment in July of 2012 pending further clinical trials and no longer permits the clinic to enroll any new participants, the Cohen's are hoping that the FDA will grant Elisha a “compassionate use exemption” something that has been done 247 times in the past.

When The Goating Gets Tough

High drama at Le Roc de la Peche in the French Alps

There are several ways to survive an avalanche - hold onto something and pray, 'swim' in the direction of the snow... or be a mountain goat. That certainly helped these light-footed animals after they were faced with a wall of snow hurtling down a mountainside in the French Alps last week. Incredible footage from over Le Roc de la Peche near Pralognan-la-Vanoise shows nine chamois goats having to think fast as the avalanche heads towards them.

Black Man Claims Attack By Chasidim In Williamsburg

A 22 year old black man who had been partying with friends in the early morning hours last weekend told police that it was a group of over a dozen Chasidic men who beat him, “They came up behind me, they grabbed me, they punched me in the face, kicked me down, knocked me out,”

The alleged attack took place at 4:45 AM at 475 Flushing Avenue in Williamsburg.  Police sources confirmed that Patterson suffered lacerations and bruising to his face and was treated at Woodhull Hospital.

NY Assemblyman Dov Hikind, who represents the Borough Park section of Brooklyn, told WNBC TV, “something obviously happened” to Patterson, but the allegation was “bizarre.”  It “sounds so out of character,” Hikind said.

Attempt At Backheel Goes Horribly Wrong

The supporter, who attended the league clash between rivals Nordsjaelland and Randers, was left red faced after attempting to back-heel a stray shot – only to knock over his collection of drinks.

The unknown fan was casually chatting on his phone whilst waiting for his friends, when the shot made its way towards him in the stand.  Clearly off balance, instead of letting the ball go past him he attempted an audacious back-heel – only to cannon the ball off a set of railings and into the drinks he had bought for his mates.  The result: total embarrassment.

Oh, and the whole incident was caught on live TV.

Protesting Kippah Ban With a Quebec Flag

Rabbi Yisroel Bernath designed a kippa to protest Bill 60, a bill that would ban on the wearing of religious symbols in the public of Quebec. The projected legislation, also known as the Charter of Quebec Values, would prohibit any display of religious symbols and the wearing of religious attire by employees in the public forum.

Bernath used social media to spread his design to the public. The viral link immediately brought in potential buyers, and Bernath put the kippot on sale on the Internet for $10. He also sold them in Rodal’s Hebrew Bookstore & Gift Shop. In less than one month, Bernath has sold 320 kippot to both Jews and non-Jews. Rabbi Bernath is known as “Montreal’s Hip Rabbi.” He is the spiritual director of Chabad Notre-Dame-de-Grace & Loyola Campus, and the Jewish chaplain at Concordia University.
