Ducks Interrupt Police Pursuit

A police officer in Oregon pursuing a speeding driver was stopped in his tracks by a mother duck and her ducklings. The officer, Mark James, with the Portland Police Department, caught a vehicle going 52 mph in a 35 mph zone.Dashcam video on Officer James’ police cruiser shows him pulling around the corner to go after the traffic violator.

After a short ride down the road on a rainy day, however, a mother duck and her two ducklings thwarted his plans by walking right into the path of his cruiser.Instead of driving around the ducks to keep after the speeding driver, Officer James stopped his car, walked out in the rain and followed behind the ducks until he was sure they had made it safely to the side of the road and away from traffic.

Lubavticher Rebbe Advises on Surgery

Bus Driver Had a Surprise Passenger

A Pennsylvania bus driver had a surprise passenger recently that entered the bus unconventionally but left just like any other passenger.

The Johnstown Tribune-Democrat reports that a deer crashed through the windshield of a public bus in Johnstown, PA on Tuesday evening The CamTran bus driver’s bus-driving instincts quickly kicked in. The driver immediately stopped the bus He opened the door, and the deer just walked off the bus.

Gilad Schalit Recites Hagomel

During a memorial event for Lieutenant Colonel Emanuel Moreno on Thursday, Gilad Schalit recited the prayer one recites upon being delivered from danger or captivity. The former soldier was held captive for more than five years until he was released in exchange for more than 1,000 security prisoners.

It was hinted that Moreno was part of a plan to rescue Schalit from his Hamas captors, but the plan was never executed. Moreno fell near the end of the Second Lebanon War.

Thousands Protest Military Draft In Israel

Tens of thousands of people participated in a massive rally near the IDF's Rashi Street recruitment center. The protest against the planned induction of yeshiva students into the Israeli Army was organized by the Eidah HaCharedis and was attended by leading rabbonim and gedolim.

Despite the best efforts to keep the rally peaceful by Eidah representatives, conflict involving firecrackers, rocks, horses. and other types of violence broke out between the participants and the security forces keeping a perimeter around the recruitment office, leading to several arrests and injuries to all parties involved, including the horses.

Frum Teen Needs Lifesaving Kidney Transplant

A 15 year old girl from Jerusalem came all the way to Minnesota for her second kidney transplant, but once in Minnesota, the journey to save her life became even more uncertain.

The living donor the family brought with them from Israel is no longer a suitable match, and now they are stranded in our state, with a dire need, but no donor.  Sara Zalaznik has a rare kidney disease that requires a living donor, and few people are a match in Israel. She had her first kidney transplant in the United States at the age of three, but now her kidney is failing again.

The family says ideally a donor would be a healthy man or woman ages 18 to 40, with no kidney, lung or chronic diseases, with blood types A or O.

The University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital along with the University of Minnesota Medical Center just performed its 8000th kidney transplant. The U of M has offered guidelines if people decide they want to be evaluated for a kidney donation.
