Oldie of the Week ~ Dovko - 1984

Presenting Old Jewish Musical Jewels which are not very well known to the younger generation.

The song will first be posted here on the main page and remain for approximately a week on the right column above the three featured videos of the week.

For the thirteenth song in this series we present "Dovko" from the album "Regesh 2" released in 1984. This song, as all Regesh songs, was composed by Shmuel Brazil (pictured top right). Album was produced and directed by Abish Brodt (pictured bottom right). Arranged and conducted by Yisroel Lamm.

Lyrics:
(Tehillim, 63)

Translation:
My soul cleaves to You, Your right hand upholds me.
So have I looked for You in the sanctuary,
to see Your power and Your glory.
My soul thirsts for You, my flesh longs for You.

Composed by: Reb Shmuel Brazil.
Soloists: Reb Abish Brodt.

Please Daven For Sholom Mordechai Halevi Ben Rivkah

At 1:30 pm central time, today, Wednesday, June 15th, in the Thomas Eagleton Federal Courthouse in St. Louis, Missouri, an appeal will be argued before three judges on the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in one of the most bitterly contested and controversial criminal trials in many years. Click Here for full story.

At 2:30pm Eastern today, there was a Tehillim teleconference at 718-258-2008.

Left to Right: Judges Murphy, Riley and Smith.

Update: The U.S. 8th Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis heard arguments Wednesday. Attorney Guy Cook says the court took the case under advisement. Rubashkin sought a new trial claiming Chief U.S. District Court Judge Linda Reade, who presided over his trial, couldn't be impartial and should have recused herself because she participated in the planning of the raid.

Geese Lose Their Raft & Surf Colorado River

From the author: "I was filming some kayakers surfing at the Glenwood Whitewater Park when I saw this group of geese floating toward the wave. Their technique is actually pretty good; beginning surfers could learn a lot. This was taken 6/7/11 at a 27-year high flow of 25,500 cfs. Since so many have expressed concern over the geese, it seemed to me like they were all okay when they washed out at the bottom.

P.S. For those that have been asking where this is, it's in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, USA, on the Colorado River. The Glenwood Whitewater Park was designed by RiverRestoration.org. You can get more information about events going on at the wave on the website: glenwoodwhitewaterevents.com."

I wonder if they're related to these guys. Maybe we finally figured out where they were running to.

Thousands of Israeli Youth Chant "Mohammad is Dead"

On Jerusalem Day, which celebrates the Israeli occupation liberation of the city in 1967, hundreds of thousands of youth ascended on the city. They marched through the Palestinian neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah where they chanted "Mohammad is Dead."

Although the news agency reporting this is biased against Israel, nevertheless, the vide is quite entertaining.

The answer to the question the reporter posed at the 6 minute mark was an easy one. We took it from Jordan when they - along with Egypt and Syria- in 1967 tried to invade and annihilate us.

The Lubavitcher Rebbe's Sensitivity Towards a Little Girl

In this video you can see the remarkable sensitivity the Lubavticher Rebbe had towards a young girl's feelings. During Kois Shell Bracha (after Simchas Torah), Cantor Mr. Satzkaz began singing "Who Knows One?" in Russian with his son and daughter beside him, the Rebbe signeled to the son to sing along, spontaniously the doughter started singing too and her voice was heard over the microphone. When the Rebbe noticed this, he signled for someone to tell her to sing "only with her lips" and the Rebbe added "be sesitive." It seemed there might have been some confusion and the little girl's feelings were hurt... Watch how the Rebbe puts down his cup and starts to clap insink with the little girl, giving her his full undivided attention so that she would feel better.
