Chasidim in Willi Get Free Shobbos Entertainment
That's the compensation they get for being forced to live in a zoo.
From the photographer: "A shooting took place in Williamsburg Shabbos Feb. 14th 2009 at 2PM, on Division ave, between Berry St. and Wythe St. There were about 50 NYPD officers at the scene. It's unclear what really happened. One thing is clear: two were arrested and one other suspect remained at large".

Lipa is Mobbed in Kosher Delight After Concert
When a Rosh Yeshiva walk in the room the place starts singing "Yomim Al Yimei Melech Tosif", but when Lipa walks in the room the crowd sings a different song.
Lipa Schmeltzer walks into Kosher Delight on Broadway, in Manhattan, after The Event concert Lipa with Sheya Mendlowitz later later both sat down to eat together with Dedi who was already in Kosher Delight, eagerly awaiting their arrival so they can join him in his meal.
This video shows only the beginning, it only took a few more moments and Lipa was surrounded by a crowd that makes the one in the video look small.

Videos of the Event
There is plenty of footage on the web from last night's concert. Below are some of the highlights, including some which are exclusively for Gruntig.
Click here to view 25 clips, some longer then others, but all in HD. I don't know how much longer these videos will last on the net, especially since a professional DVD of the Event is in the making.
Lipa Medley. A song containing many short glimpses of Lipa's hits.
MBD's surprise entry. The applause MBD got from the crowd when he entered was historical. People who have been going to concert for years exclaimed, never before had they ever heard an ovation like that. This may compare to a similar historical moment, when Shlomo Carlebach made a surprise guest appearance and joined MBD with Abie Rotenberg at the HASC 6 concert.
Abie Rotenberg's video tribute to Rabbi Eli Teitlebaum Z"L. Abei is joined by MBD on the video and is later joined by YBC/Pirchei, Lipa and the entire cast on stage.
YBC/ The Pirchei choir singing Ani Maamin, one of Pirchei's greatest hits.
A glimpse of Shloime Gertner's Music Videos presentation.
Funny Video with Lipa looking for his long lost brother "Dedi" who is in the Israeli Army.
Rabbi Boruch Chait, the legendary composer, together with Acheinu and Sruli Wuliger sing a song he composed while he was with Rabbi Eli Teitelbaum Z"L.
Dedi's entry. Listen to the crowd. Definitely the loudest I've ever been part of!
Rabbi Eli Teitelbaum's grandson talks about his special Zaidy, in a video tribute to the late Rabbi.
Life of Rubin has a collection of links to various stuff related to the concert.
TheCoolJew.com did a great podcast with Sruli Meyer of Sameach and Yossi Zweig of JewishInsights.com, click here to listen.
And in case you missed it, here is Gruntig's review of the concert in short.

Shlomo Carlebach talks in Yiddish
Shlomo Carlebach speaks in Yiddish on the topic of Purim.
I never heard Shlomo speak in Yiddish. I find this pretty amazing. Like a real farbrengin.
BTW anyone know who that guy speaking to Shlomo at the 1:10 mark is?

The Historic Event!
How do you say "go fly a kite" in Yiddish? one way is "Kish in Toches". Another way is to have Lipa make a Siyum on Mesechtas Megilah in the middle of the concert!
I just came back to Brooklyn and all i can say is "what a concert". The songs, the arrangements, the performers... And the audience, how they were into it! You could feel the energy in the the hall buzzing in the air. A surprise all star cast lead by The one and only MBD... There wasn't a moment of boredom during the entire 3 hours of the show. When Lipa Schmelzter and Sheya Mendlowitz kept on repeating that this concert will be something else, i thought to myself, yeah that's what they all say! but now after i saw what they were actually referring to, i couldn't agree more, this "Event" was in fact something out of the ordinary.
There is so much more to talk about but I'm exhausted, and besides I'm sure there will thankfully be many other writeups and articles from respective bloggers and news sources, that to write one myself is just not necessary.
I think one person who does not get the sufficient credit he deserves is the man behind the show, Sheya Mendlowitz. besides for being the producer of the entire show in general, there were those moments tonight which had Sheya Mendlowitz style written all over. The Perchei choir, Boruch Chait, Abie Rotenberg and as well as MBD's song selection, the typical sweet taste of good old Jewish music which when you hear today you know it's with Sheya behind the curtain. If you take a close look at some of the best concerts and best albums performed and released in the last 25 years of Jewish Music, you will see Sheya's famous signature written under the "A Production of" category.
It's interesting to note, prior to tonight, it seemed that Lipa was to be the main performer with perhaps 15 to 20 percent of the time to the other performers. Now although Lipa was the star of the evening, (i say that even with MBD getting probably the biggest ovation of the night), i don't think he even got 40 percent of the show time. But nevertheless, the rest of the performances were of such solid quality that this was not an issue at all.
Another interesting side note is the fact that there was no M.C. at the concert tonight. I actually like the idea. Kind of original.
I just want to say one last thing, March 1st, 2009 or Hey Adar, 5769, which ever way you refer to it, will forever be known as the night of a huge victory for Jewish music in this century.
The Jewish Music Report has already written up a full review. Check it out here.
The all new Pirchei Choir singing Carlebach's Eilecha, a popular Pirchei song.
The crowd going just a little too crazy, at the end.
