My Visit to a Cemetery in New Jersey

Rabbi Dovid Trenk seemed to walk in a little cloud of simcha, energy and life, lifting spirits and souls as he walked.

I was his waiter in Camp Munk for a number of years and was privileged to develop a close relationship with R' Trenk.

This was my first time going to his resting spot since his passing 3 years ago.

May his Neshoma have an Aliya!

Dear friends,

It is with an incredible amount of gratitude to Hashem that I announce the release of my 11th album - Truma.

The album consists of 11 tracks, my own humble compositions. Each Nigun has its own unique story of how it was composed, arranged, and eventually brought to life on this special album.

There’s so much I can say about this album; the incredible devotion of the musicians and friends in building each track, the guest appearances by Joey Newcomb and Levi Falkowitz, the tracks that make you dance, the ones that make you introspect, the ones that stir up emotion of longing and yearning to Hashem, the ones that let you sit back, relax and just enjoy.

The title track, Truma, is of the most unique nigunim I’ve written. The first few psukim of Parshas Truma always moved me as it expresses Hashem’s desire to have us, the Jewish people, be part of the process of building His home in this world.

May this album find favor in Hashem’s eyes and in the eyes of all of His people.

I can’t believe that money is what’s keeping me from buying the food that my little Faigy needs to survive.

I can’t bear to think that her physical and neurological development all depend on the money that I don’t have.

I’m so lost, so alone… I have no choice but to turn to you all for help.

Because I can’t watch my baby cry from hunger and weakness another day. I can’t watch her grow thinner and waste away before my eyes…

Let me start from the beginning:

I gave birth to Faigy just 4 weeks ago. She was the most perfect baby in the world, sweet and angelic. We were ecstatic.

I brought her home, a little bundle of pink, never dreaming of what awaited us… Several days passed, until I suddenly noticed that not only was my infant not eating properly, but that her body and face were also terribly swollen. We rushed to the hospital where they commenced a series of tests whose results were shattering.

Our little Faigy suffers from a rare intestinal disease that affects one in a million! My world went black; we knew that our lives were on the brink of change, but little did we dream how… The instructions were clear, and overwhelming: Faigy can’t eat orally since her neck is so swollen that she can’t swallow. She requires special formula that can only be purchased in specific pharmacies in the country, costs a fortune, and is not covered by health insurance. I watch her wail weakly from hunger, but I can’t afford to pay for even a fraction of the quantity that she needs.

No mother should ever know what it feels like to watch her child whimper from hunger and know that there’s nothing more she can do. And all this is before the surgeries and treatments Faigy requires (which are also not subsidized by health insurance) in order to ever develop normally! Only with these surgeries can she ever be healthy, happy and live a normal life, and without them, she’ll remain in mortal danger!

I’m Faigy’s mother. I won’t let her suffer another day! I won’t let money stop us from giving her the care that she needs—and deserves!

Shomrim Member Thwarts Attempted Robbery

A quick-thinking Boro Park Shomrim member foiled a robbery at a cellphone store.

A black male had entered the store on 13th Avenue and 46th Street and told the owner, a chasidish yid, that he wanted to buy AirPods.

The man asked to see the AirPods before finalizing his purchase, and owner agreed, handing the expensive earbuds to the man.

However, instead of buying them, the suspect took off, running towards the door as the store owner gave chase.

As he reached the door, a Shomrim member who happened to be in the area saw the chase unfolding, quickly grabbed the suspect, and pinned him against the wall.

Police arrested the suspect at the scene and charged him over the incident.

From Agony to Hope

In 1992, Pesya Leah Lapine was brutally murdered Al Kidush Hashem in her home in Crown Heights. After this merciless tragedy, the Lubavitcher Rebbe addressed his Chasidim, speaking with heartfelt emotion. He repeatedly mentioned that the children would go through life constantly yearning for their mother. The Rebbe noted that this horrible incident left us with nothing but unanswered and unsettling questions.

Despite these unanswered questions, the Lapine children grew up with the knowledge that they needed to continue their mother’s legacy.

Rabbi Avraham Lapine, now a husband and father of 6, established a Chabad house in Columbia, MO, along with his wife. They have revived Jewish life through offering Torah classes, Shabbat and Yom Tov meals, and opportunities for local Jews to do Mitzvos and connect with their Judaism. One challenge they have in their community is easy access to a Mikvah. The current Mikvah system in remote Missouri involves an arduous and difficult undertaking.

In honor of Pesya Leah's 30th Yartzeit, Rabbi Avraham Lapine will continue his mother's legacy through the building of a Mikvah in Columbia, MO.

You too can be a part of this incredible deed. Please partner in making Mei Pesya Leah a reality to enable the families in Columbia, MO to observe the Mitzvah of Family Purity. Pesya Leah gave her life for the sanctification of G-d’s name. Through Mei Pesya Leah, G-d’s name will continue to be sanctified, and her legacy will continue until the ultimate sanctification with the coming of Moshiach.

The Missing Pair | Solemates a project of Mesamche Lev

Follow a young boy as he makes his way to purchase something very precious he’s been saving for.

This video captures the raw pain of children who are unable to afford a new pair and are left wearing torn and worn out shoes. To them, there is nothing more valuable.

For thousands of children in Eretz Yisroel this is a sad reality.

On Feb 6-7 we will help them replace despair with a pair.

Every year, Mesamche Lev provides thousands of needy children in Eretz Yisroel with a new pair of shoes.

UPDATE ON TRAGEDY IN LOS ANGELES: Funeral for Mother of 5, Killed in Denver Crash

Tragedy struck the Los Angeles Jewish community on Thursday morning when word spread of a horrific incident.

At the levaya of Leora Ezoory 33 A"H, shrilling and screaming could be heard from the Ezra's Nashim. Her husband Joel was Maspid while visibly injured. Hespeidim were made to a packed house. One of the Maspidim noted, "Chazal say that one of the responsibilities of a Maspid is to bring other to Bechi, but no words are necessary! Devastated parents, a broken husband, and 5 Yesomim. The youngest only 7 months old!"

Sources tell YWN that a young couple from the community traveled to Denver to go on a skiing trip. They were traveling on Interstate 70 in Idaho Springs when their vehicle (Jeep Compass Trailhawk) collided with a disabled tractor-trailer at around 5:30 PM on Wednesday evening.

Tragically, 33-year-old Leora Ezoory A”H was Niftar at the scene. Her husband was rushed to the hospital where he was initially listed in serious condition. Bichasdei Hashem he has stabilized.

She is mourned by her parents, siblings, husband, and her 5 children.
