New Square Hatzolah Rescues Woman Jumping GWB
Volunteers from a Hasidic Jewish enclave in New York state helped rescue a 25-year-old woman who jumped off the George Washington Bridge.
Heshy Gottdiener, 36, and others from New Square were searching for the body of a 46-year-old man from their Rockland County village who had leapt from the bridge on Jan. 22 when they saw the woman jump on Tuesday,
The group, which had hired two boats and divers to look for the body of David Ahronowitz, called 911.
Scott Koen, who was helming one of the boats, helped guide a New York Police Department helicopter to the vicinity of where the female jumper landed.
The woman had broken her legs and sustained significant trauma, but a Port Authority spokesman said that she was conscious at the hospital.
Koen, 58, a volunteer firefighter from Rutherford, New Jersey, was also involved in the “Miracle on the Hudson” rescue in 2009, helping passengers off the US Airways Flight 1549 with a dive ladder on the back of his boat.
Since 2009, only one of 96 jumpers had survived the 200-foot plunge off the bridge,
As to the continued search for Ahronowitz, Gottdiener said “We know a person has to be buried in order that the soul should rest in peace.”
A fund has been established to help pay the cost of search to recover the body of Dovid Z"L. Please donate by clicking : gofundme.com/neshamah

Cockpit Camera Captures Dramatic Crash Landing
A French pilot has shared the terrifying moment when his plane's engine died shortly after take off and he was forced into an emergency landing in a nearby field.
The man, in his 40s, took off from Chailly-en-Brie, east of Paris.
The camera positioned behind the man in the cockpit of a small aircraft, documents the initially smooth take off from the airfield. However, several seconds into the flight the motor slowly grinds to a halt and the propeller stops.
Amazingly the man doesn't seem to panic straight away and radios back his status to ground. The plane proceeds to nosedive slowly towards the fields, narrowly missing some trees. It skims the ground several times, causing the pilot to swear in terror, before crashing finally to the ground.
The camera tumbles from its position, hiding any further clear footage.
The aviator, who has more than 400 hours of flying under his belt was not injured. the pilot initially hit the ground at 81mph, before slowing to 37mph for the final impact.

Climbing the Great Pyramid of Giza
The pyramids in Egypt are some of the most famous man-made structures in the world, standing with others like Stonehenge and The Great Wall Of China. After seeing other extreme climbers take on skyscrapers in China, German daredevil Andrejcie has upped the ante by climbing the Pyramid of Giza. Illegally of course.
Eli Begun - We Must Go On - Music Video
Eli Begun is on the horizon. Eli has been in Mir yeshiva almost his whole life and has been influenced immensely by Torah and Rebbiem. He obviously has a lot of music in his genes especially from his father.
The song is a message to all jewish people about what our attitude should be amidst all of the pain and suffering that klal yisroel is going through and how "we must go on" and believe in Hashem that he will pull us through.
The song was arranged and mixed by his brother Chananya Begun and it was filmed and directed by Shia Fried who both brought this production to a new level.

Italian Reporter Goes Bananas
It was only a matter of time before he went bananas.
An Italian soccer reporter flipped out after being taunted live on air by a fan with an inflatable fruit.
The journalist was covering the final day of the European transfer window for TV station SportItalia when the man started harassing him with the inflatable banana.
And although he tried to keep his composure outside Chelsea FC’s Stamford Bridge Stadium in London, his frustration quickly got the better of him, The man poked the reporter in the face with a gigantic inflatable banana as he was live on TV The Italian reporter eventually snapped and hit the man with the banana after being taunted.
After being poked and prodded in the face several times as he speaks directly to camera, the reporter finally snaps and grabs the prankster’s weapon of choice before beating him with it.
Update: Turns out this was a prank. Click Here to watch.

Satmar Rebbe 24 Hour Visit to Israel
Rabbi Yekusiel Yehuda (Zalman Leib) Teitlebaum, Satmar Rebbe of Williamsburg, landed in Ben Gurion International Airport yesterday for a whirlwind 24 hour visit to Eretz Yisroel,
His visit is due to bearing cash for anti-draft yeshivas that boycott IDF draft notices, and for ultra-Orthodox students injured or beaten during anti-draft protests.
Rabbi Zalman Leib Teitelbaum, who has tens of thousands of followers in the US, is due for a 24-hour visit for a family celebration. He has called for a list of yeshivas whose directors refuse to comply with Israel Defense Forces draft orders, Israeli Channel 2 reported. Many ultra-Orthodox yeshivas allow their students to go to army induction centers to go through the process of applying for deferments, which eventually become exemptions.
In a letter to yeshiva heads, Teitelbaum has also asked for the names of yeshiva students who have suffered injuries in anti-draft protests.

Nearly Squashed By Wrecking Ball To Prove Physics
Physicist, and crazy scientist, Andreas Wahl wanted to prove one of the basic laws of physics, the law of conservation. So how does he do it? In the most daring way ever of course!
The law of conservation is simple enough, stating that energy can not be destroyed, only changed. He proves this law in this daring science experiment in which he sets up a giant wrecking ball. Pulls it near his face and then lets go, waiting for it to swing back at him.
Luckily, science was correct again, and the wrecking ball just stops inches from the scientist’s face.

Pair of Monster Sinkholes Swallow Up Road
A "monster" sinkhole opened up next to another to create a double sinkhole near a busy highway in southern Oregon
Video shows a massive sinkhole that has opened near a highway along the coast of southern Oregon. The huge crevice joined another sinkhole which has been plaguing the Curry County town of Harbor since heavy rains last month.
A contractor was working on it Thursday when the erosion started to accelerate on a nearby road. The new sinkhole that emerged as a result of the erosion is a "monster" that could take up to 65,000 cubic yards of earth and eight weeks to repair.
It's the largest seen in Oregon for 20 years. “It’s a monster for sure,” said Jared Castle, Department of Transportation spokesman for southwest Oregon. “This is a very unusual event and is a sinkhole of a magnitude that we don’t see but once every couple decades.” Thankfully the double sinkhole didn't swallow any vehicles, and there were no injuries. According to Castle, the two sinkholes "probably have now met," Castle said, creating one gaping hole in the highway.

World's Fastest Rubik's Cube Solving Robot
We humans might think ourselves pretty smug for being able to solve a Rubik's Cube in mere seconds but robots are always out to one-up us after a computer has been created that can crack the cube in just over one second.
In the time it takes you to say the word 'Rubik's Cube' the homemade computer built by two software engineers from Kansas, US, has already solved the iconic puzzle, clocking in a time of just 1.047 seconds to get the job done.
The current Guinness world record for a robot is a relatively sluggish 2.3 seconds, with the humans lagging behind with 4.9 seconds, which was set by 14-year-old Lucas Etter in November 2015. Despite both of these actually being fast speed solving times (especially compared to our own 18-years-and-counting effort) this unofficial new world record has absolutely smashed them both.
The creators, Jay Flatland and Paul Rose, uploaded a video to YouTube of their robot getting 'hands-on' with the Rubik's Cube. It shows the Cube held in the middle of a 3D-printed frame via drilled holes with four USB cameras pointing at the puzzle. The robot is then hooked up to a Linux-based computer running a Kociemba Rubik's cube solving algorithm that takes the information delivered from the cameras and then works out in milliseconds which moves to make.
The result is a blink-of-the-eye flurry of movement by the robot that successfully unscrambles the famously tricky combination puzzle created by Hungarian professor Erno Rubik back in 1974. The two men are currently in the process of applying for the world record title.

14 Month Old Snowboarder
We may have a future Olympian on our hands -- at least that's what her parents are hoping for.
Sloan Henderson, a 14-month-old from North Salt Lake, Utah, is learning to shred some slopes.
Her father, Zach Henderson, recorded Sloan's first snowboarding attempt at Park City Mountain Resort on Thursday and shared the video on YouTube. She was a natural.

Surfer Thrown 40ft From Epic Wave
The surf was well and truly up for Tom Dosland last week when he took this tremendous topple from the top of Maui’s famous Pe’ahi (Jaws) wave.
Hawaii is seeing record swells thanks to El Nino, and Dosland was lucky enough to escape unscathed from the fall.
Hawaii has seen huge swells already in January, but last week saw the largest yet as 40ft sets lined up at the famous surfing spot in Maui - even the occasional 50 footer found its way through.
El Nino has been causing extreme weather patterns recently, with the Pacific suffering huge storms. The Californian city of Pacifica has declared a local emergency due to severe cliff erosion caused by El Nino.
For now, at least, El Nino is very much welcomed by the surfers who have flocked to Hawaii’s shores, as the islands see some of their largest waves since 2001.

Cargo Ship Drifts Off Coast of France
A cargo ship listing nearly 90 degrees in the water is drifting empty off the coast of France, as maritime rescue workers wait for the seas to calm.
The captain of the capsized Modern Express, sailing with a load of wood in the Bay of Biscay, 180 miles off the coast of France, sent out a distress call Tuesday and its crew of 22 was evacuated by Spanish helicopters.
France's coastal authority said the ship, with its deck nearly in the water, was being prepared Friday for towing. A team of four experts are to board the listing vessel later in the day amid swells up to 16 feet.
The ship was traveling from Gabon, in Africa, to the northern French port of Le Havre.
