Cockpit Camera Captures Dramatic Crash Landing

A French pilot has shared the terrifying moment when his plane's engine died shortly after take off and he was forced into an emergency landing in a nearby field.

The man, in his 40s, took off from Chailly-en-Brie, east of Paris.

The camera positioned behind the man in the cockpit of a small aircraft, documents the initially smooth take off from the airfield. However, several seconds into the flight the motor slowly grinds to a halt and the propeller stops.

Amazingly the man doesn't seem to panic straight away and radios back his status to ground. The plane proceeds to nosedive slowly towards the fields, narrowly missing some trees. It skims the ground several times, causing the pilot to swear in terror, before crashing finally to the ground.

The camera tumbles from its position, hiding any further clear footage.

The aviator, who has more than 400 hours of flying under his belt was not injured. the pilot initially hit the ground at 81mph, before slowing to 37mph for the final impact.
