Shira Choir Singing "Im Hashem" of Rechnitz Goes Viral

It was just over two years ago when Los Angeles businessman and philanthropist Mr. Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz released his new composition "Im Hashem Lo Yivneh Bayis." Mordechai Ben David was the first to sing it, during a Chol Hamoed Sukkos evening at congregation Shaarei Torah on L.A.'s La Brea Avenue.

Just over a week later, Shraga Gold, founder of the Shira Choir, celebrated the Bar Mitzvah of his son. Partaking in the Simcha was the entire cast of the Shira Choir, paying respect to their friend and enhancing the night with their voices. They sang through the night without any help at all of a single live instrument, in accordance with a special community agreement, to not splurge on musical expenses at Bar Mitzvah celebrations. Among the many other melodies performed that night, the Shira Choir sung this beautiful, yet unknown new melody of "Im Hashem" for the very first time.

A recording of that performance was uploaded to the legendary Shiezoli channel on YouTube, the largest Chasidic video channel on the Internet, and was featured here on Gruntig.net on that same day.

It wasn't until almost a year later that it became noticeable this video was generating an exceptional amount of interest, with the number of views gradually climbing, reaching several hundred thousand views. It was later revealed that this viral turn, had ironically begun deep inside Russia and Ukraine's non-Jewish community. Moreover, during the summer months of 2015, a video of a christian acappella group from Lithuania chanting the Hebrew verses during a live concert, made its way around Jewish blogosphere and Whatsapp groups around the world.

Then, just last week, in a matter of literally days the video suddenly spiked another few hundred thousand, soaring beyond one million views and can now be found on every corner of the world wide web.

While many in the Jewish orthodox community seem to react this phenomenon with both confusion and wonderment,,Yahoo, AOL, MSN and everything in between, all seem to agree that there is something unique and special about this clip.

Below is a clip of students in LDS Business College, Salt Lake City enjoying the video. From the up-loader: "This took place in Utah, before our class starts we watch YouTube videos that are either very popular, or we have something to learn from. We are studying Social Media Marketing. We talked briefly about how faithful the Jewish community is to their faith. Not to mention how well they sing."

Another video, this time from France. He writes: "I try a traditional Jewish song, although I do not speak or understand Hebrew".
