Geese Block Traffic on a Chinese Highway

Chinese commuters had a novel excuse for being late for work after an enormous gaggle of geese wandered onto a motorway and brought traffic

Police officers were left in a flap after two farmers shepherded their flock of 1,300 birds right across the Hubei section of the Erenhot-Guangzhou highway in central China,

Neither farmers nor geese took much notice of passing traffic as they strolled along the treacherous highway on November 5, even as drivers beeped their horns loudly in their direction. When police officers arrived at the scene, they attempted to shift the birds into one lane and place traffic cones around them to divert oncoming cars.  However when some of the geese starting breaking clear of the pack and wandered back into the path of trucks, the police ordered the farmers to get their birds off the road as soon as possible.

According to the two owners, they chose to walk the geese across the highway to save time and money rather than transporting the geese using vehicles.
