The fun holiday that follows Yom Kippur gets a fun music video to boot. Sukkahs are falling, Lulavs are flying, and there are some vocal harmonies in this visual treat by Rogers Park Band, starring Yosef Peysin and Mordy Kurtz, with a cameo appearance by comedian Mendy Pellin.
This is the Chicago-based, Hassidic folk-rock band’s debut music video.
“With the incredible amount of videos and clips that have been put up to get ready for Rosh Hashana and Hannukah, there have been virtually none celebrating Sukkot. This is a holiday that is, to some extent, largely overlooked in the social media world by many of the younger Jewish population,” said Mordy Kurtz.
So the band teamed up with famous Hassidic comic Mendy Pellin, star of the Jewbellish comedy series, and put out this video as part of their work with Jewish student life on campus to create a buzz for the lesser known holiday amongst Jewish college students across the nation.
Mordy Kurtz and Yosef Peysin formed Rogers Park in 2011, and have been recently named Continuum Theatre’s “Best Chicagoland Jewish Band” for 2014.

Truck Crashes Into Barrier at 50mph
As a small crowd watches, a former Blue Bell ice cream delivery truck barrels into a steel barrier at 50 mph. The truck’s windshield and hood hurtle forward while its cab folds like an accordion. The black barrels in the vehicle's trailer, made to act as stand-ins for explosives, hop a few inches into the air before restraints pull them back down.
The goal was to prevent the truck bed from making it further than one meter past the barrier, a spot marked by a blue pole at the testing site. None of the truck’s bed made it past the barrier, marking the test a success, The ability of a driver to survive such a crash is not a primary concern.
The U.S. State Department is developing a steel barrier that can immediately stop a speeding 15,000-pound truck. The government agency is developing the structure with the Texas A&M Transportation Institute at the university in College Station who released a video of a test run that shows the truck getting completely totaled after colliding with the barrier at 50 mph. it is being developed to protect international U.S. embassy bases.

Itzik Dadya “Mechavein El Ha’Or” Concert in Tel Aviv
A few weeks ago Itzik Dadya held a release concert for his new album “Mechavein El Ha’Or” in Tel Aviv. The event started with a siyum and some Divrei Bracha from R’ Chaim Horovitz, and immediately thereafter the music started.
No less than 14 musicians were there playing, conducted by maestro Gershon Freishtat. New arrangements for every song on the album, as well as Itzik Dadya himself sitting on stage and performing some of the new songs. A number of his good musical friends also graced the stage, such as Ohad Moskowitz, Yishai Ribo, the Kinderlach, and Daniel Ahaviel. The album has already sold 20,000 copies, and a number of the musicians who worked on the album came up on stage as well, including David Fadida, who produced the album.
To wrap things up though, the concert ended with the first ever ALS Ice Bucket challenge on stage. Itzik immediately nominated Menachem Toker, David Fadida, and his own father, and was promptly poured ice water all over his head.
Ki Besimcha, composed by Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz
Ice Bucket challenge accepted.

Pilot Steers Hot Air Balloon Through Underground Cave
An Austrian balloon pilot has succeeded in taking a balloon deep underground, a feat which he believes is a world first.
Ivan Trifonov, 70, managed to descend into Mamet Cave, on Velebit Mountain in Croatia, before ascending back above ground. The cave is 675ft deep with a 200ft opening at the top. The flight took around 25 minutes to complete, using a balloon especially designed for the stunt. Instead of a basket Trifinov sat in a small steel frame, perched above twin gas tanks.
The trip is being reviewed by Guinness World Records to verify that it is a new record (Trifonov figures it is). Of course, the boundaries of this cave are very difficult to maneuver for just about any pilot, so if verified, this world record will probably stand for quite a while.
But even if it isn't confirmed, Trifonov already has four world records to his name, including having been the first to balloon over both of the Earth's poles, the Mediterranean Sea, Jerusalem, the Great Wall of China, and the Kremlin. What's more, Trifonov accomplished his balloon-spelunking mission at the age of 70.

Leopard Diving Down For Lunch
This is the incredible moment of a leopard diving from a tree into an unsuspecting group of impala – and emerges from the pack with lunch. The sneak attack caused the herd to flee in fright – except for one poor animal that was stuck in the female cat’s vicious grasp. Within seconds the attack was over – and the leopard held its prize in its jaws. Yasmin Tajik, 41 from Las Vegas, took the photos on August 13 while on holiday in Botswana.
Argument Leaves Boy With Broken Heart
A heartbreaking debate between some young toddlers was caught on camera. The little boy and a pair of little girls were arguing whether it was raining or sprinkling outside. "My mom told me it was sprinkling," the little boy proclaimed. "My mom said it is raining," one of the little girls emphatically replied. "No! My mom said it was sprinkling," the little boy quickly argued.
The debate goes on for more than a minute, with each side passionately imploring their case. But then things came to blows as one of the little girls poked the little boy right in the chest. "Ow," he claims, as eyes begin to fill with tears. "Are you okay?" asks the other little girl, obviously shocked by her sister's actions. "You poked my heart," the little boy then cries out. The second little girl then tries to comfort the boy's broken heart.
We're still not sure if it was sprinkling or raining.

Japanese Volcano's Eruption Captured By Hiker
The Japanese volcano Mount Ontake erupted early Saturday, killing one woman and injuring more than 30 people. The volcano, which last erupted in 2007, is popular with hikers. At one point, more than 250 hikers were trapped on the mountain, although Japanese news outlets are reporting that most of them have been rescued. A medical emergency team has been dispatched to rescue the 41 hikers still trapped on the mountain. One hiker managed to take footage of the eruption, which has been sending ash pouring down the mountain for more than two miles.
