Rabbis Accused in Plot to Force Husbands to Get Divorces

The world needs to understand, when someone takes advantage of a particular religion to hurt others, the only way to fight back is through that same religion.

Three rabbis, including one who claims to have conducted more than 2,000 divorces, were arrested for allegedly pressuring Orthodox Jewish men into giving their wives religious divorces.  Rabbi Mendel Epstein, Rabbi Martin Wolmark, Rabbi Jacob Goldstein and a fourth man, Ariel Potash, are facing charges.

As many as six others people are also in custody but may not be charged.  The investigation revealed that unhappy Orthodox Jewish wives who wanted a divorce were paying $100,000 to the rabbis. In exchange, the rabbis would facilitate divorce, frequently by hiring armed thugs kidnap the husbands and beat them until they agreed.

FBI Raids Yeshiva Shaarei Torah in Monsey

The FBI raided a Yeshiva in Rockland County last night in what is being described as a "pay for divorce" kidnapping sting.

Law enforcement officials could be seen outside and inside the Yeshiva Shaarei Torah in Suffern around 9 p.m. yesterday.

An FBI spokesman says the head of the yeshiva and two other rabbis were charged for unlawfully seizing, confirming, kidnapping, abducting, holding a person for ransom reward and otherwise threatening them or conversing with them to get a divorce. The FBI criminal complaint says Rabbi Martin Wolmark, Rabbi Mendel Epstein, Ariel Potak, and Fnu Lnu aka "Yaakov" used violence to obtain a forced divorce. The suspects are scheduled to appear in Trenton, NJ federal court at 2 p.m. today.

Sources tell News 12 that in the Jewish orthodox community, if female wants a divorce, she needs something called a "get" from a husband. This must be a written grant from the husband. The FBI probe is investigating a group who charged women upwards of $100,000 to kidnap their husband, take physical action against him, and get that signature.

According to the complaint, Epstein told an undercover agent that they used cattle prods, karate, handcuffs and even placing a plastic bag over the men's heads to get them to cooperate.

Please pray for the full recovery of Yitzchok Brocho.

HT: Shmais.com

His melodious voice has been forever changed. He can no longer sing as part of the religious services he used to lead or read aloud from the Torah, the five books of Moses that serve as the foundation for the Jewish people.

He can still speak, but it’s often difficult to make out what he is saying. Words that had previously flowed with careful pronunciations and a tinge of whimsy – even through a distinctive East Coast accent – are now flat. It doesn’t hurt him to speak, but it sounds as if it does.

The disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, has robbed Rabbi Yitzchok Hurwitz of what had been normalcy. Commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, it has changed how he moves through the world and interacts with people, including his family, which includes seven children ranging in age from 7 to 16, and the members of the Chabad Jewish Center of Temecula. Moment the Entire Alcohol Aisle Came Crashing Down

This store employee, so proud of his careful and considered work stacking bottles in the alcohol aisle, stood back to admire his handywork but this supermarket aisle had a very short shelf life indeed. Within moments the entire aisle, bottles and all toppled over, narrowly missing two women perusing the shelves and the surprised shelf stacker.

The neat rows of stock quickly turned into a runny, brown mess as alcohol flooded the supermarket floor among a deluge of splintered shelves and broken glass on Thursday last week.
