Second Boston Bombing Suspect Captured Alive

Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev lay hospitalized in serious condition under heavy guard Saturday apparently in no shape to be interrogated - as investigators tried to establish the motive for the deadly attack and the scope of the plot.

People across the Boston area breathed easier the morning after Tsarnaev, 19, was pulled, wounded and bloody, from a tarp-covered boat in a Watertown backyard. The capture came at the end of a tense day that began with his 26-year-old brother, Tamerlan, dying in a gun battle with police.

FBI Releases Video Of 2 Boston Bombing Suspects

The FBI released photos and video Thursday of two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing and asked for the public's help in identifying them, zeroing in on the two men on surveillance-camera footage less than three days after the deadly attack.  The photos depict one man in a dark baseball cap and the other in a white cap worn backwards. The men were seen walking together in the crowd, and the one in the white hat was seen setting down a backpack at the site of one of the blasts,

In his attempts to mock the tourist, the clever orangutan attempts to put the T-shirt over his head, but a little confused, he only succeeds in putting it over his head and obscuring his vision. Wearing the shirt like a headscarf, Carlo bounds around the cage before considering another attempt at putting it on properly. Much to the amusement of bystanders at the Davao Crocodile Park, the primate's second attempt to dress himself is more successful than the first. Experts have extensively studied the species for their learning capability.

Caught on Camera: Fertilizer Plant Explosion in Texas

Explosions rocked a fertilizer plant in West, Texas, Wednesday evening as firefighters were battling a fire, causing multiple injuries, authorities said.

Dani Moore, dispatcher with the Texas Department of Pubic Safety, said she did not know how many were injured or the extent of their injuries. "The fertilizer plant was on fire. Firefighters were on the scene. There was an explosion ... followed by a second explosion,'' she said. She said there were multiple damages to structures and vehicles. She said she had no information on the cause of the blasts or fire.

WFAA.com reported at least 10 structures were on fire, including a school which is next door to the plant. An emergency triage center was set up at a high school football field. The fertilizer plant is about 20 miles north of Waco and just off Interstate 35. KWTX.com reported one of the nearby buildings damaged was a nursing home, and state troopers transported some of the injured to hospitals in patrol cars. It also said the explosion knocked out electrical power to part of the community.

Raw: Explostion Hit Boston Marathon

Boston - Two bombs exploded in the packed streets near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday, killing two people and injuring more than 100 in a terrifying scene of shattered glass, bloodstained pavement and severed limbs, authorities said. A senior U.S. intelligence official said two other bombs were found near the end of the 26.2-mile course.

At the White House, President Barack Obama vowed that those responsible will “feel the full weight of justice.”  There was no word on the motive or who may have carried out the attack, and police said they had no suspects in custody. Authorities in Washington said there was no immediate claim of responsibility.  Bloodied victims are carried on stretchers and pushed in wheelchairs to safety. Police clear the scene strewn with debris and broken glass. A runner, crying, is comforted after the explosions.




The video was shot by Ryan Hoyme who was seated in a grandstand opposite where the first bomb detonated.
Following the two explosions the emergency services evacuated the area and tended to the wounded.

Technology Led to Mezuzah Arson Suspect Arrest

The NYPD denied Friday a published report saying an "ear lobe" photo of a suspected arsonist proved to be the crucial match in its database that led to the man's arrest.

But the department acknowledged "Facial Recognition Technology" did play a role in the apprehension of the 35-year old suspect, Ruben Ubiles—a career criminal with 52 arrests in his background.

Ubiles was charged with multiple counts of arson and burglary as hate crimes—for the Monday and Tuesday burning of twelve Jewish mezuzahs, on the apartment doors of residents in Williamsburg buildings. A mezuzah holds a tiny, religious scroll containing a prayer.
