A Russian fireman was knocked down a ladder by a large chunk of snow while trying to rescue people from a burning building in the east Siberian city of Magadan, Thursday. The fireman managed to hang on until a colleague came to help him. Meanwhile another fireman climbed past him on the ladder and rescued a toddler from fire. No casualties were reported.

World's Oldest Jewish Woman Celebrates 112 Birthday
A Long Beach, NY, nursing home resident believed to be the oldest living Jewish person in the world was the guest of honor yesterday at a gala celebration commemorating her 112th birthday KA"H. For Goldie Steinberg, a resident of Grandell Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, yesterday’s event was a belated birthday party. Mrs. Steinberg’s actual birthday was on October 30th, the day after Hurricane Sandy decimated Long Beach, forcing the evacuation of all of the kosher nursing home’s residents for almost four weeks.

The children of two prominent Hassidic rabbis got married on Tuesday, drawing thousands to the ceremony and reception in Monsey. The bride, Sima Halberstam, is the daughter of Rabbi Chaim Halberstam of the Satmar Synagogue in Rockland. The groom, Naftali Meisels, is the son of a renowned rabbi in Brooklyn.

Amazing footage posted online shows the moment one late night news viewer watched the high-speed police pursuit he had been following fly past his own front yard on Monday night. Tuning into to a live broadcast covering the car chase through the streets of Inglewood, California, the stunning coincidence only begins to reveal itself when sirens are heard coming from outside the man's home. As the man seemingly begins to stand in anticipation of something, wailing sirens can be heard and suddenly the camera turns to the window and shows the actual troop of police cars in pursuit fly past his window

Cops Lift Taxi Off Man
This video captured the amazing act of strength by the quick-thinking NYPD on Sunday morning January 13 2013. As a pedestrian lay pinned under the taxi, a group of police and bystanders rushed to circle the car. In a dramatic rescue, the officers lifted the four-door sedan several times so emergency workers could pull free the unnamed victim, who was lying underneath the wheels. ABC7 reports that the man was rushed to the hospital in cardiac arrest and listed in critical condition. Police have not charged the driver.
