Shul Firebomber in Court

A teenager charged with attempted murder in the firebombings of two New Jersey synagogues pleaded not guilty Wednesday, as authorities announced they would conduct a sweep of synagogues within a 10-mile radius of his home to look for arson.

The 19-year-old man was charged Tuesday with attempted murder and hate crimes in connection with recent firebombings of two northern New Jersey synagogues that put the region’s Jewish community on edge and prompted round-the-clock police patrols.
