Man in Wheelchair Stops Robber

He has been confined to a wheelchair since breaking his back ten years ago. But when Larry Skopnik saw a customer threatening the shopkeeper at a local store he didn't let his disabilities get in the way. Propelling his wheelchair towards the man, Mr. Skopnik got him in a headlock, then wrestled him to the ground. He was able to hang on to him until two other customers came to his aid. The man was then arrested by police.

Mr. Skopnik had been shopping at the Food Store on Commerical Drive, in Vancouver, when he saw the man attempting to pay with a suspect $50 note. Cashier Cindy Grewal refused to accept it - at which point the thief charged behind the counter. 'Boom, I tried to grab him,' Mr Skopnik said describing how the weight eventually pulled him out of the chair.
