Ken Burgess, English composer and arranger, was born in the 60s. He arranged songs and produced albums for famous Rock bands, and his songs climbed to the top of the song contests in England, the United States and even Canada. Later on in his career, Burgess was offered a proposal that was hard to refuse to: The French singer Frances Lay asked Ken to serve for him as musical producer for an album for a successful talented Israeli singer called Nava Baruchin (famous in Israel as the soloist of the Pure Souls Trio). But very soon the two understood that not only notes and sounds connected between them... Through her Ken discovered Judaism and decided that he wanted to convert to Judaism. After a long struggle they made Aliyah and he was converted in Yerushalayim by the chief rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Lau. After making Aliyah in the year 5753, Burgess continued to be connected to the general music industry and even joined the Jewish music industry, working with singers from the front line as musical producer, as arranger, as singer and as composer. About five years ago, he realized a dream and established “United Studio” where he works till today. Many esteemed singers in the Jewish music field record at his studio, among them Mordechai Ben David, Ya’akov Shwekey, Yeedle Werdyger, Yishay Lapidot, and many others. Burgess released three albums, while deeply connected to the Jewish Music industry: “Not Alone in the Desert” which was released in 5763, which included the song ‘Adon Olam’ which hosted many Chasidic singers, “Bneh Malchuso” – which was released in 5764 and a third album which attained the name “Ken Burgess 3” and was released in 5765 – which was produced by one of the greatest Jewish singers, and a very good of Ken’s – Mordechai Ben David, which includes duets with Menachem Toker, Mordechai Ben David, Dudi Hertz, Yeedle, Mendy Garuffi, and more.
“G-d Help the Helpless Man” is the single from the new album which is expected to be released around Chanuka. The song is a plea to Hashem to help all those who cannot help themselves. The songs awakens us to do some Cheshbon Nefesh now, in these days of Elul. A distinguished choir joins Ken as the song concludes.
Here is the interview with Menachem Toker. The interview is in Hebrew and in English.
