Tefilasi - Avrumy Straus & Motty Ilowitz

Vani Tefilosi — words we say daily, right at the start of Shacharis, asking Hashem to listen to our tefilos and answer our call.

As we stand right before the Yomim Noraim, when every Yid pours their heart out in prayer, I hope this song brings you closer to the meaning behind those words. May it uplift you and, b’ezras Hashem, may all our tefilos be answered.

Carlebach Kabalas Shabbos - Avrumy Straus & Friends

A Carlebach Kabolas Shabbos with a chassidish taam by Avrumy Straus & Friends - filmed in Israel. (Yes, it’s normal to sing along and then find yourself dancing)

Avrumy Straus had a dream. He felt transformed by experiencing a Chassidish kabalas Shabbos in the Nusach of R' Shlomo Carlebach and started leading the davening in his shul. Now, Avrumy wants to share that same experience with the world by presenting the first Chassidish Kabolas Shabbos Nusach Carlebach ever filmed.

The video was filmed at the historic Kehillat Renanim Shul in Yerushalayim. Together with Avrumy and the Neshama Choir, the video includes an ensemble of some of the greatest Israeli Chassidish singers, including Yoeli Davidovitz, Ahrele Scharf, Suchi Goldstein, Shimmy Lifschitz, and Moishe Wales. Each singer has several solos throughout the davening.

Avrumy said “I saw how many yidden were uplifted and inspired by a chassidish Carlebach Kabalas Shabbos that seemed familiar yet fresh and unique at the same time. I hope this video will inspire others as well.”

I Believe In Myself - Avrumy Straus - Chaim Gold

With the current situation we find ourselves in, Botei Medrashim/Knessios and Yeshivos/Schools closed, cut off from the world and lost, this is the exact time to try to bring some hope and positivity.

A while ago, singer/songwriter Chaim Gold and Avrumy Straus collaborated and created a special song titled אני מאמין בעצמי/ Ani Maamin B’atzmi. The voices of these two singers and the arrangement of the time is sure to reach deep down into the depths of your soul and try to comfort you.

The lyrics are from the holy Tzaddik Reb Tzudik Hakohen MeiLublin ZT”L. The lyrics talk about the fact that a person has a CHIYUV, an obligation, to believe in one’s self because he is a part of Hashem. Though times might be hard, we are Klal Yisroel, we are all parts of Hashem and we have to believe in Him and by that in ourselves. We will get through this. There is a reason for all this chaos. While we don’t understand this, we believe that Hashem has His reasons and it’s for our benefit.

May we all hear the footsteps of Moshiach and experience the ultimate geula bekarov.

Avrumy is a chassidishe yungerman who was inspired by Yitzchak Fuchs and Reb Shlomo carlebach. He performs at Sheva Brochos, Bar Mitzvahs and simchas of all kind. Straus has always loved music especially Kumzits style, which gives people a more spiritual connection. Avrumy has been playing since the young age of seven years old. After performing for the last few years, Avrumy decided it was time to broaden his horizons and release a video showcasing his talent.

He is joined by keyboardist Efroyim Berkowitz and percussionist Shia Beck. This set was performed live at a fundraising event in Monroe, NY for the organization Ezer L’shabbos. This set includes the popular songs Git Shabbes, Reb Shlomo’s Sholoim Aleichem, Kiddush and Shabbos Zemiros.
