The Tzitzis in the Operating Room That Inspired a Song: the "yeled Hapeleh on Wheels" Yisrael Goldreich Revives Reb Moshe Goldman's OB"M Classic "Ke'nesher"
At the age of seven and a half, following a fall that resulted in a complex fracture, Yisrael Goldreich was rushed to Rambam Hospital for emergency surgery. Just before being put under anesthesia, he insisted to the medical team, "I am not taking off my Tzitzis; they are my protection." This courageous stance led to a compromise—rolling the Tzitzit upward—which became a standard practice throughout a series of complex surgeries. During his recovery, his father played him the classic song "Ke'nesher" by the late R' Moshe Goldman; the song became an anchor and the soundtrack of his life.
Now, in celebration of his Bar Mitzvah, Yisrael has come full circle, releasing a high-production rendition of the piece. The track was produced by Michael Tzi, with arrangements by David Fink, featuring the Malchus Choir, conducted by Pinchas Bichler, and a team of top-tier musicians. "This song gives me strength," Yisrael shares. "I feel that everything happens for the best, and I am grateful to the Creator, my parents, my teachers, and everyone who has supported me along the journey—from rehabilitation to the stage."
