One winter day at Edgware Studios, Isaac Paneth sat down at the piano, as he often does, playing sweet melodies. His Moreh Derech, Reb Yaakov Yosef Spitzer Shlit”a, began singing along and, in that spontaneous moment, composed the beautiful melody that would become Ayay Shabbos. Gershy was immediately struck by its heartfelt tune, reminding him of his Rebbe Z”L’s Negunim and the unforgettable Friday nights at the Pitsburger Rebbe’s Z”L Tish. Inspired, they knew they had to share the song with the world.
Gershy crafted the arrangements with Moishy Kahana from Bnei Beraq, and Isaac brought in the Neimes Choir to bring the melody to life. During one of the sessions, the talented Reb Yaakov Shlomo Gross unexpectedly dropped by, adding his soulful touch and signature voice. Also featured is child soloist Chezki Markowitz (not seen in the video), from the Shevach Boys Choir of Skver.
The Nigun “Ayay Shabbos,” composed by Reb Yaakov Yosef Spitzer Shlit”a, is based on the Pre-Kiddush Friday Night Zemiros Shabbos Koidesh Adoin Hashuloim (אדון השלום).
Let this melody touch your soul and bring you back to timeless moments of inspiration and joy.
