A REVOLUTION IS BREWING

We find ourselves at the threshold of history in the making, with a movement that will BEZ”H revolutionize one of the greatest struggles faced by families in the community. Its success will be life-changing — and life-creating — for countless families in the most difficult of predicaments.

Background

Everyone is familiar with the challenges of couples who struggle to naturally bear children. While medical options exist, their costs are astronomical and, even with the assistance of wonderful tzedakah organizations, often can’t be met without great difficulty.

In the rest of the Western world, the government and insurance providers cover the costs of these wondrous treatments, but shockingly not so in the United States of America, where we remain woefully behind in this area. This is an injustice that must come to an end. This is a medical necessity like anything else, and must be covered.

The Solution

It’s time for a change in federal law, demanding that private insurance companies, and eventually also government-funded insurances, do what’s right and cover these invaluable treatments.

The timing has never been better than now, with Congress divided and enough support to see a bill pass. We can’t let this opportunity go to waste!

Why Tzedek

In a letter to Tzedek signed by 300 families, they urge the organization, which has proven in the past to be able to enact measures that others never could, to heed their pleas and help ensure the passage of this critical bill.

This push will take place in three phases:

The first will see infertility treatment included in the category of ‘medical necessities,’ amending ERISA and requiring commercial insurance companies to cover these treatments.

The second will see general marketplace insurance companies be pressed into doing the same so they can be eligible for the Obamacare exchanges. The final stage will be convincing Medicaid to follow the market and cover these vital services.

We Need You

As can be imagined, the insurance companies are pouring in millions in lobbying money to stop the above from happening. While there is enough support for these measures, we need to fight back with millions of our own if we want to win.

There’s no other choice! Klal Yisroel will unite and we will win — for generations.

WE NEED EVERYONE ON BOARD

5 Month Old Girl in Need of Urgent Surgery

Click Here To Help Fund The Life-Saving Surgery (every $ counts)

Joy and Sorrow

Little Saraleh lives in Israel and is born to proud parents who waited years for their beautiful gift, but she was born with an internal growth in her lower digestive tract which must be removed immediately. This type of surgery has a high success rate when done by the age of 3 months. Saraleh is holding at the sweet age of 5 months now. The fact is the hour is getting late.

The Current Situation

The doctors informed the young parents of the condition but explained to them that surgery must be done privately by a specialized team in Washington.

Though Saraleh’s family lives in Eretz Yisroel they, as any parent would do for their child, immediately began researching and making plans for this life-saving journey. They soon discovered the exorbitant cost of $250,000 to save this young bas meilech was not going to be a journey they could take without your help. We don’t understand all of Hashem's ways but their special gift from Hashem, and the challenges little Sarah faces has necessitated that they turn to you.

Hope Within Reach

We are asking that you take this journey with us, where the destination is the most glorious outcome: to save a beautiful jewish child’s life together with us!
We daven that it may be an auspicious time that we turn to you, to Klal Yisroel and ask that you participate in saving the life of this little girl. The young parents simply have nowhere else to turn, but hope is not lost. Klal Yisroel is amazing. We plead that you open their hearts and hands to Saraleh to save her, help her live, give her the only chance she has.

A 90th Yahrzeit Tribute to Cantor Yossele Rosenblatt

In June, 2023, we will mark the 90th Yahrzeit (date of passing) of the King of Cantors, the great Yossele Rosenblatt. Rosenblatt's music has permeated Jewish life and Synagogue music throughout the globe. He set the gold standard for creativity in Cantorial arts with his magnificent and beautiful voice. Rosenblatt died in 1933 at the age of 51, but his music lives on in the hearts of Cantorial aficionados and supporters everywhere.

Rosenblatt's fame extended beyond the Jewish world earning him large concert fees, a singing role in the 1927 film The Jazz Singer, and the sobriquet "The Jewish Caruso". He was known for his extraordinary technique, for the sweetness of his timbre, and for his unique ability to transition from normal voice to falsetto with hardly any noticeable break at all. Notably, he turned down a "golden hello" from the Chicago opera house because it violated his religious principles.

All selections that will be performed were written and composed by Cantor Yossele Rosenblatt

Cantor Netanel Hershtik
Cantor Yitzchak Meir Helfgot
Cantor Yaakov Stark
Cantor Yanky Lemmer
Cantor Zevi Muller

Shira Sings Shira

The power of song (shira) carries us through every moment of every day. It celebrates life’s highest peaks, and encourages us across the valleys. Song is contagious; when one person sings, he draws others in, and they can’t help but join him in harmony.

This song, composed by Shlomi Gronich in 1979 and now complete with new, uplifting lyrics by the one and only Lipa Schmeltzer, is a pitch-perfect invite from us to you, to raise your voice, to sing along, and to find strength and joy in music.

Of course, you won’t be singing alone! As you enjoy this pure a cappella recording featuring Shira’s finest vocal musicians, you’ll be inspired by the power of vocal music. You won’t hear a single string, wood, or wind instrument. No one but Shira can deliver such a nuanced, complex, and layered song without missing a beat (or an instrument).

This is not only the best thing you’ll hear this Sefira. It’s the best thing you’ll listen to—on repeat!—all year. Our gratitude to the legendary Sheya Mendlowitz for the concept.
