Mi K'Amcha Yisroel - Joey Newcomb feat. Benny Friedman

I was privileged not too long ago to go on a trip to Europe to visit the places of our past. One of the toughest days was the day that we visited the Nazi death camps and we were all down and broken as we thought about what took place at such a place of destruction. Needless to say it was an emotional day. That night we went to krakow. And as we were Davening Maariv in the Rema’s shul I started to experience a different feeling. I thought to myself, after all we’ve been through we’re still here if not stronger. I started to think about the words “Mi K’amcha Yisroel” until this song came down.

The sound of this tune has a very happy and upbeat vibe and as we were considering a collaboration on the album, there was no better choice then Benny Friedman who’s a Chossid and a Heiligeh Yid. And he graciously lent us his beautiful voice.

Dear Friends,

I am often asked what music I personally listen to when I am alone, or on long trips in the car. Truthfully, I enjoy the quiet time, but when I do listen to music I almost always choose to listen to “oldies”. Each song that I listen to brings me right back to that specific era of time. I can vividly recall where I was and the specific feeling and inspiration that I got at that moment.

I encourage my children to listen to the music that I grew up on and it has now become their favorites too! I have a feeling that although our generation is speeding fast into the future we also find ourselves longing for the past more than ever before.

What was it about those days that we want to run backwards-towards (if that makes any sense)? Deep down we know the answer. While we are always looking for something new and fresh, the true hischadshus that we seek is already inside of us. The music of the good old days awakens something in us that inspires us to renew…..ourselves. When we listen we feel connected, inspired, and more at peace. That is why it doesn’t cease to talk to us even after all these years. Open your hearts and join me as we journey back and reconnect to some real Jewish music!

Baruch

LIVE! Rubashkin Celebrates 3rd Anniversary of Miracle

Live on Thursday: Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin will celebrate the third anniversary of his miraculous release at a live event with Avraham Fried, Benny Friedman, Yaakov Schwekey and Shlomie Gertner.

Three years ago on Zos Chanukah 5778 we all celebrated the miraculous release of Reb Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin. It wasn’t just a Nes and a victory for him and his family, it was a victory for us all – a triumph of trust.

As he so clearly demonstrated throughout his ordeal, Emunah and Bitachon are the tools Hashem gave us to overcome adversity. On Gimmel Teves Hashem showed clearly and publicly that trusting in Him will not just help us endure hard times. When we face the hard times with Emunah and Bitachon we will merit the Geulah.

We are all facing hard times and now more than ever we need to strengthen our Emunah and bitachon. Join Reb Sholom Mordechai in celebrating his Ness and in applying its lessons in our lives.

The Annual Night of Bitachon will be Thursday night, Beis Teves, December 17th. The program will begin at 8PM, looking back and celebrating the Ness with the musical participation of Avraham Fried, Benny Friedman, Yaakov Schwekey and Shlomie Gertner. Then, at 9PM, we will look to the present and future at a live discussion and Farbrengen with Reb Sholom Mordechai and his close friend Reb Pinchos Lifschutz on how to face our own situations with Emunah and Bitachon.

If you would like to send a question to be included in the discussion, you can email it to AlephBG@gmail.com or text it to 347-853-4683.

Making History: 1 Million Jews, 18 Min.! This Wednesday!

Making History: 1 Million Jews, 18 Minutes! This Wednesday!

Don’t Miss It!

Chanukah is celebrated each year by millions of people around the world but for the first time in history, this year it can be celebrated by everyone together.

“The world has witnessed much darkness this year” said event spokespersons Mendel Haller and Rabbi Ari Shishler, “yet Chanukah celebrates our ability to overcome impossible odds and band together to generate hope, goodness and light to dispel the world’s darkness”.

“The Global Chanukah initiative will see Jews from cities across the globe come together in a united global effort to inspire and to be inspired” they said.

Following the success of the 18 for 18 online Lag B’omer campaign, which connected 18 000 Jews from across Australia, the Global Chanukah initiative aims to unite a million Jews, from countries around the world. Jewish communities around from different time zones will unite at the same time for an 18 minute, high-impact online Jewish experience like never before. Jews from every corner of the globe, from Argentina to Arkansas, Thailand to Tel Aviv, Marseilles to Melbourne, will join together to be moved, to celebrate and to commit to share more light in our uneasy world.

You can be one in a million when you join fellow Jews from across the globe with a single purpose in: To be inspired, to inspire others and to share the light.

The online event will take place on Wednesday 16 December:

2pm New York
7pm London
9pm Jerusalem
6am Syd/Mel (Thursday)

“Chanukah teaches us that a small group, when united, can overcome the greatest obstacles and can illuminate the world” said Mendel Haller, “and we encourage everyone who can to log on during our time zone and become part of history”.
