Akeida - Yisroel Werdyger, Yoely Fisher Creation - Shira

The song “Akeida” combines the raw emotion of a lyric first composed to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Holocaust with the silky sweetness of Yisroel Werdyger’s voice. The strains, the sensations, the force of the song is sure to evoke the memory of the millions of Yidden who were murdered al Kiddush Hashem.

Akeida, written by veteran composer Yossi Green, was first sung in 1993 in Warsaw in front of a prominent audience who had come from around the world to mark 50 years since the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. The original arrangement was written by Shua Fried, and was recorded as part of Yisroel Werdyger's album, Du Voint A Yid, which was released in November of 2019.

The dazzling voices of Shira Choir, accompanied by the soul music of master performer Yoely Fisher and his orchestra, combine with Sruly Werdyger’s talents to produce an inspirational moment sure to awaken, to enliven, to connect.
