"We Can't Sleep, You Can't Sleep!"

Scores of drivers honked their car horns near Gracie Mansion Monday night to disrupt the mayor’s slumber in protest of the recent uptick in illegal fireworks shooting off across the city.

“We need to send a message that we need to end these chaotic fireworks that [have] been happening across the city,” said Councilman Chaim Deutsch, who attended the protest.

“So if we can’t sleep, Mr. Mayor, you won’t sleep,” the councilman said in a video statement posted to his Twitter account.

Deutsch said the demonstration was expected to attract a few hundred people and it did.

A video posted to the Twitter showed dozens of vehicles honking their horns for over 1 hour by Gracie mansion and immediate vicinity.

In a separate video posted by American phenom & radio host Heshy Tischler, who also attended the rally, declared “We want these firecrackers stopped!”

In the first two weeks of June, the city’s 311 system clocked 849 fireworks grievances, compared to just 21 during the same period last year — a whopping 4,000-percent surge.

The mayor’s spokeswoman, Freddi Goldstein, tweeted Monday night that city hall will announce “a multi-agency crackdown on illegal fireworks suppliers” on Tuesday morning.
